Abstract

Scheduling is an important issue in parallel processing. Most scheduling algorithms makes assigns tasks in a direct acyclic graph (DAG) to processors. Usually only the allocation and ordering of tasks are considered, and sometimes communication time is included in the determination of priorities of the tasks, however, communication messages are not explicitly scheduled. Moreover, communication contention plays an increasing important role because of the increased system size of parallel computers. We study the effect of communication scheduling on large interconnection network and try to avoid communication contention. We present a communication scheduling scheme which can be easily included in exiting list-based scheduling algorithms. Experiments show that parallel execution time is reduced as compared to traditional scheduling without explicit communication scheduling. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i5.1350

Abstract

One of the dominant virtue of Steer-By-Wire (SBW) vehicle is its capability to enhance handling performance by installing Active Front Steering (AFS) system without the driver’s interferences. Hence, this paper introduced an AFS control strategy using the combination of Composite Nonlinear Feedback (CNF) controller and Disturbance Observer (DOB) to achieve fast yaw rate tracking response which is also robust to the existence of disturbance. The proposed control strategy is simulated in J-curve and Lane change manoevres with the presence of side wind disturbance via Matlab/Simulink sotware. Futhermore, comparison with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controllers are also conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The results showed that the combined CNF and DOB strategy achieved the fastest yaw rate tracking capability with the least impact of disturbance in the AFS system installed in SBW vehicle.

Abstract

Jatropha is a plant that has many functions, but this plant can be attacked by various diseases. Expert systems can be applied in identifying so that can help both farmers and extension workers to identify the disease. one of method that can be used is Extreme Learning Machine. Extreme Learning Machine is a method of learning in Neural Network which has a one-time iteration concept in each process. In this study get a maximum accuracy of 66.67% with an average accuracy of 60.61%. This proves the identification using Extreme Learning Machine is better than the comparison method that has been done before.

Abstract

The operation and control of electricity in distribution networks has faced great challenges as a large number of distributed generations (DGs) are integrated. Connection of distributed generations (DGs) in the distribution system offers advantages in terms of reducing distribution and transmission costs as well as encouraging the use of renewable energy sources. The power flow in the distribution systems is no longer moving in a single direction and this resulted the system to become as active distribution networks (ADN). One of the main problems in ADN is the voltage regulation issue which is to maintain the voltage to be within its permissible limits. Several methods of voltage control methods are available and focus is given in finding the optimal voltage control using artificial intelligence techniques. This paper presents an optimal and coordinated voltage control method while minimizing losses and voltage deviation of the network. The optimal and coordinated voltage control scheme is implemented on an IEEE 13 bus distribution network for loss and voltage deviation minimization in the networks. Firefly Algorithm (FA) which is a known heuristic optimization technique for finding the optimal solution is used in this work. The results are compared with another optimization method known as Backtracking Search Algorithm (BSA) for identifying the best setting for solving the voltage regulation problem. In order to solve the multi-objective optimization issue, the MATPOWER load flow simulation is integrated in the MATLAB environment with the optimization algorithm.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the feature and necessity of resource migration, and summarizes the commonly methods among different systems. According to the requirements of the systems in the housing fund center,an architecture model based on resource migration is designed. The process of migration, the format and specification of the data packet are described according to the architecture levels and the process. After the migration application is developed, the operation data of the system are analyzed and further suggestions are given. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5392

Abstract

Three-D rounding photography system is an application of Desktop Virtual Reality. It takes the pictures around the objects with the computer, and then deasl with them for the 360 degree display in the local computer or a web page. The Three-D visual sense and image real-time amplification of this system are the key technical problems. This paper researches on this system and proposes a new solution based on the Silverlight technology togher withan improved triangle internal interpolation method based on the barycentric coordinates properties for the image real-time amplification. The experimental results show that the solution meets the visual sense and interaction Requirements of the Three-D Rounding Photography system. And the improved algorithm reduces the operation time efficiently, thus it has some practical value. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2205

Abstract

Great efforts are directed to word the use of electrical vehicles in transportation. Mathematical modeling tools can provide a powerful approach for investigating electrical vehciles and are successfully implemented by applying Matlab/Simulink. In this paper, the mathematical simulation model of Series Excited DC motor (tractive motor) on Matlab/Simulink was implemented and investigated. The main objective of this study is to assess the use of Series Excited DC motor (tractive motor) to be used for the new Amman city express bus project and evaluation of its performance characteristics in different running and loading cases. All simulation results are plotted and discussed. This study confirms the feasibility for the use of series excited DC motor (tractive motor) in electric buses as alternatives for sustaibale and environmentally friendly transportation system.

Abstract

Social media enables unlimited open interactions between organisations and customers. Social content resulting from social media interactions are of immense value and could be beneficial to both organisations and customers. Well managed social content could be used as a basis for producing service innovations offered by the organisations. However, the meaning of social content and its definition is not clearly articulated in the literature. This led to an equally limited meaning of social content management. In this regard, this article proposed that the definition of social content and social content management should be developed from the service science perspective. This is necessary to capture the essential facet of social interactions, that of value co-creation. Both definitions are developed through a triangulation process namely, literature review and a series of interviews with experts. With the proposed definition of social content and social content management, it is hoped that it would enhance the understanding of both concepts thus leading to a more effective way of managing social content.

Abstract

A method of combine multi-predictoris proposed based on wavelet transform to improve the prediction precision of coal mine gas concentration time series. Firstly, the proposed model employ Mallat algorithm to decompose and reconstruct the gas concentration time series to isolate the low-frequency and high-frequency information. Then, ARMA model is built forthe prediction of high-frequency information and rectifies deviations of the predicted values by Markov bias correction method while the SVM model is used to fitthe prediction of the low-frequency information. At last, these predicted values are superimposedto obtain the predicted values of the original sequence. This method makes an effective separation of the feature information of gas concentration time series and takes full advantage of the features of different prediction models to achieve complementary advantages. The comparison experiment with the single-predictor models(BP, SVM) and single-predictor models based on wavelet decomposition(W-BP, W-SVM)show that the proposed method improves the overall predictionprecision. The results show that method has high precision and strong practicability.
