Abstract

Losses on Electric Distribution System lines represent a major challenge for electric distribution companies since those losses refer to the amount of electricity injected into the distribution grids that are not paid by users. Network Optimization by system reconfiguration is one of the solutions among many others used to solve this problem. In this paper a modified version of new Meta Heuristic algorithm based on Bat behavior is proposed to find the best system configuration with a low loss rate, we present two different approaches: reduction of search space and introduction of sigmoid function to fit the algorithm to the problem. The main advantages of the proposed methodology are: easy implementation and less computational efforts to find an optimal solution. To demonstrate its efficiency the proposed scheme is tested on 33 Bus distribution system and the results show loss reduction rate of 33%. DOI:  http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v14i1.7629

Abstract

Collecting Lingwu long jujubes’ growth characteristics and identifying maturity compared with growth model are important factors in automatic image monitoring system for fruit maturity. To segment and extract regions of Lingwu long jujubes’ against nature scenes in digital images is the key to image recognition. Color space transformation, is used to transform RGB color space to CIE L*a*b* color space, analyze characteristics of three-dimension histogram of each component and increase target display properties by using each component’s point operation. Also, the image pixel threshold segmentation method of each component is proposed; then the target image can be obtained by mathematical morphological and logical operation of the extracted image. 50 images of Lingwu long Jujubes are utilized to compare segmentation results of algorithm with those of manual segmentation method. Comparison results show that the proposed segmentation algorithm can be effectively applied to extracting Lingwu long jujubes’ images against nature scenes, and its accuracy has reached 92.6%.This algorithm has decreased the segmentation error caused by image noise while extracting targets which has strong robustness to the color distribution fluctuation as well. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i9.3289

Abstract

Parkinson’s disease (PD) among Alzheimer’s and epilepsy are one of the most common neurological disorders which appreciably affect not only live of patients but also their households. According to the current trend of aging social behaviour, it is expected to see a rise of Parkinson’s disease. Even though there is no cure for PD, a proper medication at the early stage can help significantly in alleviating the symptoms. Since, the traditional method for identifying PD is rather invasive, expansive and complicated for self-use, there is a high demand for using classification method on PD detection. This paper compares the performance of Neural Network and decision tree for classifying and discriminating healthy people for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) by distinguishing dysphonia. The simulation results demonstrate that Neural Network outperformed decision tree by giving accurate results with 87% accuracy as compared to decision tree with only 84% accuracy in determining the classification of healthy and people with Parkinson’s.

Abstract

Nowadays Micro blog has become a new tool of social intercourse. It effectively integrates various multimedia so that it is possible for users to release and update information freely. The characteristics of the micro blog bring great challenges to hot topic detecting. This paper proposed an approach of mining hot topics from micro blog by detecting the key terms emerging in large numbers and clustering them. To extract subject headings, a compound weight was structured by considering the term frequency and the growth rate to measure the likelihood of a word to be a hot topic keyword; To construct the hot topic, contextual relevance model was used to support incremental clustering, which is more suitable to the problem compared with semantic similarity. The experiments on real world data in micro blog show the effectiveness of the approach out of massive messages. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i3.4283

Abstract

Community detection is an important method for analyzing the community structure of real-world networks. Most of the hierarchical agglomeration community detection algorithms are the variations of NM algorithm. In this contribution, we present a new hierarchical agglomeration community detection algorithm, called Community Merging via Community Similarity Measures (CMCSM). The proposed algorithm encompasses three components. It first repeatedly joins communities by using single-node community measure and combination rule. Then it adjusts a few nodes by SHARC which is an advanced label propagation algorithm. Finally, it merges communities by using community similarity measure. Four of most important features of CMCSM are that (1) it requires only a single parameter which is the number of community count, (2) it can prevent single-node communities and monster communities from being created, (3) it is well suited for a wide range of networks and (4) its computation is not expensive. The algorithm CMCSM is demonstrated with real-world and artificial networks, the experiment shows that CMCSM has a more efficient and accurate result of community detection compared with some hierarchical algorithms recently proposed. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1430

Abstract

The electrical network measurements by measuring device Phasor Measurement Device (PMU) are usually sent to the control centers using data acquisition system and other communication protocols available. However, these measurements contain uncertainties due to the measurements and communication noise (errors), incomplete metering or unavailability of some of measurements. The overall aim of state estimation is to calculate the state variables of the power system by minimizing errors available at the control center. Due to generate desired quantities by optimal estimate which is given the set of measurements, Kalman filters are widely used. This paper discusses the application of an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithm, the Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) algorithm, and New EKF+M and UKF+M estimator algorithm, those are modification of EKF and UKF for enhance accuracy and elapse time is less. The effectiveness and performance of EKF+M and UKF+M Estimator over another Filtration algorithm is shown. These state estimation techniques applied on IEEE-30 bus, 14 bus and 9 bus test system.

Abstract

The performance of network-based speech recognition application is mainly determined by the availability of all speech data received on the server and also the realtimeness in delivering the recognition results from the server. On the basis of full-duplex speech recognition application this paper proposes a real-time application framework for web speech recognition using HTTP/2 protocol and Sender-Sent Events (SSE). A number of experiments were performed to compare the latency of both the application using HTTP/2 plus SSE and the full-duplex application using WebSocket. The results showed that the proposed framework offers better alternative for a web-based speech recognition than the framework using WebSocket.

Abstract

It is very much important to have an improved meathod of poultry incubation because of the increase in demand for chicken. But in conventional meathod of poultry incubation it consumes much power and this power is taken from the grid. In short conventional meathod of egg hatching requires countioous supply of power. Weknow about the increasing demand   In this paper a new meathod of solar poultry incubator design is suggested which could be used to hatch eggs from solar pv and hence could reduce the usage of power and can maximize the usage of solar power which is a renewable source of energy.By implementing this meathod of solar poultry incubator we will be able to reduce the power consumption of the incubator by 75% and the cost involved in the design also yields profit and hence could bring out a reveloution in this field.

Abstract

In this paper we provide a new digital video steganalysis algorithm.  When frames of the cover video are embedded with secret messages, both number of connected component and number of holes will change dramatically, thus Euler number of the stego-frame will has pulsing increase. This proposed steganalysis algorithm is applied to stego-video, estimating steganographic algorithm for frames chosen and estimating steganographic capacity. Experimental results indicate that it’s much simpler and faster, more sensitive and robust, steganography rate as small as 0.0154% can be reliably detected. It’s effective and efficient to detect any format video, because this algorithm is only correlated with the connected components number and holes number of the frames. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.1971

Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) is currently popular technology that has been used by people in various areas such as architecture, medical, training and many more.  In this paper, the researcher proposed collaborative VR for interior design that allows customer and designer work together at different location.  Commonly, the designer draw their design in two-dimensional (2D) graphics at the drawing paper and presents to the customer.  However, 2D drawings led to an ambiguity, indistrinct and uncertainty on the design.  In addition, redesign any changes lead to re-build the prototype.  These will be costly and wasting time, therefore, researcher proposed collaborative VR application which provide an intense feelings about the design which is presented in form of three-dimensional (3D) graphics.  Additionally, proposed application would allow the designer and customer to work in real-time.  In conclusion, collaborative VR will give the benefits for interior design manufacturing to prosper along with current technology.
