Abstract

This article discusses the existing calculation of heat for a coal-fired hot-blast furnace. By utilizing the standard method of heat calculation for boilers, considering the relation between the theoretical combustion temperature and the excess air coefficient of the boiler, combining some operational parameters of a coal-fired powder hot-blast furnace, the heat calculation of iron ore concentrating dry combustion on a coal-fired hot stove is discussed. It is used to prevent coke and optimize combustion. It also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of flue gas recirculation systems. Abstract

Collision detection is an important application in the field of virtual reality, and efficiently completing collision detection has become the research focus. For the poorly real-time defect of collision detection, this paper has presented an algorithm based on the hybrid collision detection, detecting the potential collision object sets quickly with the mixed bounding volume hierarchy tree, and then using the streaming pattern collision detection algorithm to make an accurate detection. With the above methods, it can achieve the purpose of balancing load of the CPU and GPU and speeding up the detection rate. The experimental results show that compared with the classic Rapid algorithm, this algorithm can effectively improve the efficiency of collision detection. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3744

Abstract

The goal of optimal allocation is to increase the stored data availability subject to minimize the storage budget. The symmetric allocation based on the network coding is proved to be optimal without considering the nodes availability in distributed storage system. Because of network conditions and node inherent property, each node has different availability. This paper focuses on the optimization distributed data storage problem with nodes availability. Based on probability model of storage system, we re-define the symmetric allocation as the probability symmetric allocation, and proposed probability symmetric allocation model and strategy which are proved to be optimal in the general condition based on SVM. Comparing to the symmetric allocation proposed by Leong D. et al., The proposed probability symmetric allocation scheme improves the data availability, and is more practical method for distributed storage system. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.5100

Abstract

Many scientific articles have been written about electromagnetic field distributions under high voltage overhead transmission lines. However, some readers are still left wondering just how exactly the distribution curves formed by the fields are related to the mathematical models used. This paper presents case study results of a 500 kV alternating current overhead transmission line, and explicitly shows how the fields vary under high voltage lines by employing easily understood mathematical models. The numerical simulations, done using MATLAB, can help anyone willing to evaluate the amount of electromagnetic fields available under any other high voltage overhead transmission line. The magnitudes of the fields obtained are compared with the standard values set by the International Radiation Protection Agency so as to assess the integrity of external insulation of the line. Abstract

This paper presents a numerical analysis of the specific absorption rate in SAM phantom exposed to electromagnetic field. A two set dipole antenna operating with 1800MHz and 2600MHz were placed parallel to the z-axis and rotated in clockwise from 0o (vertical) to 180o in steps of 30o to investigate the effect of frequency and polarization. The maximum average of 1gram and 10gram of tissue have been presented to show the effect of SAR in SAM phantom model. A comparison of the mass average SAR in head shows the 1g of SAR at 2600MHz is double to 1800MHz frequency. While for 10g of SAR, slightly different for both 1800MHz and 2600MHz.

Abstract

The synchronous precision of synchronization protocol is low and the scalability is limited strictly in large scale wireless sensor networks (WSNs).Considering the issue, a novel cooperative time synchronization protocol based on pulse-coupled oscillators and distributed diffusion (CTSP) is proposed in this paper. The protocol works in two phases:clock tick synchronization phase and time synchronization phase.In the clock tick synchronization phase, the phases of the pulse-coupled oscillators is changed by the pulse coupled signal of the SINK node. The tick synchronization of all nodes is achieved by distributed diffusion. In time synchronization phase, the average time of reference nodes is spread to a limited number of hops based on two-way message exchange mechanism. Moreover, in order to achieve the synchronization of entire network, it adopts the method of mutual diffusion to finish the approximately synchronization between the node time and the average time of all nodes. By comparing CTSP with TPSN, we show that, CTSP can synchronize the network quickly with good precision convergence speed and scalability, which appropriates for large-scale WSNs.

Abstract

A crucial step in image compression is the evaluation of its performance, and more precisely, available ways to measure the quality of compressed images. In this paper, based on a learned classification process in order to respect human observers, a method namely Machine Learning-based Image Quality Measure (MLIQM) is proposed,which classifies the quality using multi-Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification according to the quality scale recommended by the ITU. Then, the classification process is performed to provide the final quality class of the considered image. Finally, once a quality class is associated to the considered image, a specific SVM regression is performed to score its quality. Obtained results are compared with the one obtained applying classical Full-Reference Image Quality Assessment (FR-IQA) algorithms to judge the efficiency of the proposed method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2716

Abstract

Analysis of vertical light tubes, and diffuser as daylighting system in buildings is presented. The solar light energy is directly addressed to the chosen area of the building with a light tube and diffuser guiding structure. This work highlights illuminance obtained by light tubes in a three storied office building. Field investigation with a scaled prototype, and simulations with HOLIGILM, and DIALux are analyzed. It is observed that light tubes can offer large savings in electricity usage by using natural daylight.

Abstract

According to SIFT algorithm does not have the property of affine invariance, and the high complexity of time and space, it is difficult to apply to real-time image processing for batch image sequence, so an improved SIFT feature extraction algorithm was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the MSER algorithm detected the maximally stable extremely regions instead of the DOG operator detected extreme point, increasing the stability of the characteristics, and reducing the number of the feature descriptor; Secondly, the circular feature region is divided into eight fan-shaped sub-region instead of 16 square sub-region of the traditional SIFT, and using Gaussian function weighted gradient information field to construct the new SIFT features descriptor. Compared with traditional SIFT algorithm, The experimental results showed that the algorithm not only has translational invariance, scale invariance and rotational invariance, but also has affine invariance and faster speed that meet the requirements of real-time image processing applications. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.4000
