Abstract

The evolution in different areas like e-business contributed to increase the number of data. So, a scalable database is required to accommodate a large number of data. Moreover, this data could be important and the number of accessing for reading or writing operations can make a pressure in some servers more than others, this pressure called unbalanced accessing. This will be achieved if a system that guarantees the distribution of this important data in useful form is used, because the pressure can causes a delay. Accordingly, when we design a multi storage node to keep this data, the pressure will transfer from a server to another. So, the proposed system searched for a satisfied solution to distribute all the users on the servers in a useful way to detect any mistake or repeating updating operation data by using identification feature. This method is applied on Hbase and called Clusterization.

Abstract

The developments of communications and digital transmissions have pushed the data encryption to grow quickly to protect the information, against any hacking or digital plagiarisms. Many encryption algorithms are available on the Internet, but it's still illegal to use a number of them. Therefore, the search for new the encryption algorithms is still current. In this work, we will provide a preprocessing of the securisation of the data, which will significantly enhance the crypto-systems. Firstly, we divide the pixel into two blocks of 4 bits, a left block that contains the most significant bit and another a right block which contains the least significant bits and to permute them mutually. Then make another permutation for each of group. This pretreatment is very effective, it is fast and is easy to implement and, only consumes little resource.

Abstract

Today it has become important to reconfigure the networks in to new form to be more manageable, scalable, dynamic and programmable. The networks recently are so inflexible and failing to deal with the required changes for the Information Technology. Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a modern paradigm that focused to change the main idea of current network infrastructure (traditional network) by breaking the chain between the data forwarding and the control planes to introduce flexible programmability network. This paper makes comparison between the performance of traditional fat-tree network and SDN fat-tree network, which found that average Round Tripe Time (RTT) in SDN fat-tree topology will decrease by 8.96% than traditional fat-tree topology. Then shows the basic operation of OpenFlow protocol that can be applied on fat-tree topology by using SDN technology and how that can be effect on the performance of network and make it more flexible to enable the SDN module applications, like load balancer and firewall for optimizing the SDN network. In this paper the physical switches are replaced by software switches in a virtual network environment and display the SDN structure in GUI, also Floodlight controller is chosen to use as the network operating system for SDN network.

Abstract

In this paper, a nontrivial uncorrelated phase noise analysis is proposed for frequency synthesizer of a passive millimeter-wave Synthetic Aperture Interferometric Radiometer (SAIR) imager named BHU-2D-U designed for concealed weapon detections on human bodies with high imaging rates. This synthesizer provides local oscillators both for millimeter-wave front-ends and intermediate frequency IQ demodulators for the receivers. The influence of synthesizer uncorrelated phase noise in different offset frequency ranges on the visibility phase errors have been systematically investigated with phase noise mismatch requirements drawn. Integrated RMS phase error has been applied to establish uncorrelated phase noise requirements for visibility error control. Measurement results have proved that uncorrelated phase noise does exist among synthesizer output pairs, and the previously defined requirements are achieved with imaging results proposed. In conclusion, the uncorrelated phase noise effects on SAIR visibility errors have been concretized to phase noise design requirements, which have been realized by synthesizer design. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i2.3844

Abstract

Extensive used traffic simulation systems are helpfulin planning and controlling the traffic system. In traffic sim-ulation systems, the state of each vehicle is affected by thatof nearby vehicles, called neighbors. Nearest neighbor (NN) queries, which are multi 1-dimensional and highly concurrent,largely determine the performance of traffic simulation systems. Majority of existing traffic simulation systems use Linked list-based methods to process NN queries. Although simple andeffective they are, existing methods are neither scalable nore fficient. In this paper, we propose a B+-tree-based method to improve the efficiency of NN queries by borrowing ideas from methods used in databases. In particular, we create a linked local B+-tree, called LLB+-tree, which is a variation of Original B+-tree, to maintain the index of neighbors of each vehicle. We also build a mathematical model to optimize the parameter setting of LLB+-tree according to multiple parameters for lanes and vehicles. Our theoretical analysis shows that the time complexityof the method is O(logN) under the assumption of randomly distribution of vehicles. Our simulation results show that LLB+-tree can outperform Linked list and Original B+-tree by 64.2%and 12.8%, respectively.

Abstract

One of critical challenge in knowledge management success is to motivate people share their knowledge to others. Prior’s research reveals that motivation as primary driver for people to perform knowledge sharing. Previous study also indicated people influenced by internal (intrinsic) and external (extrinsic) motivation when perform the knowledge sharing. The aim of this article is to investigate and explores how the elements of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation contribute to people intention in perform knowledge sharing in virtual communities. Moreover this study would confirm and understand how this knowledge sharing behavior occurs in Indonesia Context. Many literatures argue that different culture context would produce different of people belief and behavior. This study conducts a survey in a formal virtual community of practices members in one Indonesia Company. Two hundred and four respondents participated in this study. Data was analysis using SEM with Smart PLS Software. This study found that both of those motivations (intrinsic and extrinsic) are positively influences behavior of people knowledge sharing in formal Virtual Communities of Practices. In advance this studies indicate that extrinsic motivation is major motivation element that influencing people in perform knowledge sharing.

Abstract

In this paper, two types of microwave moisture measurement instruments were designed and compared with microwave dryness method and attenuation method separately. Compared with traditional moisture measurement instruments, the moisture instrument with microwave dryness method can detected the moisture content rapidly with high precision. On the other hand, the moisture instrument with microwave attenuation method can detect the moisture content with much higher speed but low precision, which can be used in the online measurement system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3073

Abstract

Electricity disruption due to power cable failure is a major challenge to power utility companies worldwide. A technique which provides quick response with accurate result is needed to detect defects along the cable to reduce the disruption time. This paper discusses the application of time domain reflectometry (TDR) technique to identify and locate the defect along a cable. A cable system is modelled in MATLAB/Simulink to replicate the cable configuration with two joints using the scattering parameter (S-parameter). This research studies the fault identification for two degraded sections in a cable by analyzing the reflected signal from the TDR technique. The characteristics of the reflected signal which indicates the defect cable section are discussed in detail in this paper. Results from MATLAB/Simulink simulations are also compared to the experimental results of the same cable configuration. This study shows that the signal reflection characteristics from MATLAB/Simulink simulations are similar to the experimental results. This indicates that the cable model system built using MATLAB/Simulink replicates the actual cable system accurately which can be used for further analysis of cable fault localization.

Abstract

Bio-based chemical products such as xylitol have achieved remarkable attentions both in pharmaceutical and food industries due to their several advantages such as sugar substitute that can help diabetic patients and help in preventing tooth decay problem. To produce xylitol, recently, microbial host such as E. Coli often used as it is predicted that E. Coli can produce high level of xylitol. Therefore, metabolic engineering need to be done towards E. Coli and powerful tools are needed to manipulate, simulate and analyse the E. Coli metabolic pathway. Artificial intelligence methods such as deep neural network offer an efficient and powerful approach to be used to analyse the xylitol production value and at the same time to predict which genes and pathway that give biggest effect in the process to produce xylitol in E. Coli. Results show that, with an absence of genes pgi, tkt and tala, xylitol production can be boosted up to the higher level.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore the possibility of web usability test in 60 seconds rather than unlimited time by customers.  Usability was tested by two major testing methods: system usability scale (SUS) and NetQu@l.  60 customers as two groups were involved in the experimental design procedure. The assessment included an online shopping website where one group tested in 60 seconds and other group had 3 days to test.  Result shows that there are significance differences in SUS based testing and no significant differences in NetQu@l based testing. Altogether, these results provide further support that SUS based usability testing can be implemented in 60 seconds time frame without imposing additional cognitive load on customers.
