Abstract

Effects of barrier parameter a to output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of bistable stochastic resonance in feature extraction was investigated in this paper. Barrier parameter a was changed with other systematic parameters fixed. The relationship between parameter aand the output SNR of non-linear stochastic resonance system was studied. This research provided us a novel way to extract the features using the non-linear stochastic resonance. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3724

Abstract

With the rapid of the deployment of computer systems, people in the modern society are increasingly dependent on the hardware and software systems.  When the demand for computer systems increases, the possibility of crises from computer failure will also increase.  Therefore,, in order to achieve a desired level of quality, the experienced software team must have a better design method to establish the system.  That is, it is very important to choose a better approach that can be applicable to develop the complex software system. The experienced designers will record the design problems which they felt hard to solve or they took much time to solve. When they meet the similar problems later, they would refer to the record. Design patterns are produced from the record. This Paper aims at explaining how to apply the design patterns in the game framework through a simple example by taking the Role Playing Game as example and adding design patterns; it also tries to make a judgment whether the software quality has been improved by using the object-oriented software quality model to test the software quality of the Role Playing Game without the design patterns and that with the deign patterns. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4664

Abstract

ForCES router(ForTER) is an open experimental platform for network research of new routing algorithm, packet processing which is based on ForCES. By introducing and designing six new LFBs to ForTER, this paper propose a method of implementation of multicast IP router with network coding enabled. These LFBs undertake coding functions such as packets’ coding, labeling, buffering and decoding. We build an IP multicast network with ForTERs, which including the classic shortest path tree constructed by the reverse path from the source node to each sink ,then evaluate the completeness of throughput , performance overhead and CPU utilization. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i2.2005

Abstract

In Industrial procedures, to trust the achievement of planned operation, actualising new and exact strategy for perceiving irregular working conditions, known as shortcomings, is essential. A powerful technique for blame location and analysis helps to decrease the effect of these deficiencies, praises the wellbeing of operation, limits downtime and lessens fabricating costs. In this paper, utilisation of BBNs examined for a benchmark synthetic modern process, known as, Tennessee Eastman keeping in mind the end goal to accomplish prime blame location and specific likely finding of their causes. Use of Bayesian conviction systems for blame location and conclusion of Tennessee Eastman prepare in the graphical setting depiction has not been tried yet. The accomplishment of this component affirms capacity and straightforwardness utilisation of it as an asymptomatic framework in specific current procedures.

Abstract

In heterogeneous network, maintaining seamless connectivity needs excessive efforts from various aspects such as network availability and mobile node reliability. Presently, a vertical handover management is a practical approach in facilitating the service continuity for mobile users. Many researches have been conducted in this area by considering performance improvement in delay, latency, and overhead. Preserving the Quality of Services (QoS) based on user mobility and pattern movement during handover decision has become an important aspect in vertical handover management. This paper presents the conceptual mobility model of vertical handover decision in heterogeneous network. Hence, several researches in vertical handover decision management has been reviewed regarding the issues on the vertical handover decision algorithms such as RSS Based Algorithm, MADM Based Algorithm and Intelligence Based Algorithm.  This paper highlights the current decision algorithms that integrate the traditional methods with intelligence algorithm for better optimization. In decision parameters, the user mobility pattern can be importance in terms of direction randomness and mobility speed.  Hence, a conceptual mobility-awareness model for vertical handover are been proposed in targeting some improvement of handover performance.

Abstract

Multi-cell joint channel estimation (JCE) is the basis for application of multi-cell cooperative processing. For weakness of the existing algorithms that power delay profile (PDP) knowledge of all multiple cells need be known or pilot sequence sets of all cells must be identical, in this paper, a pilot-aided time domain JCE algorithm is presented. And then, by using Generalized Akaike Information Criterion (GAIC) to estimate PDPs of all cells for reducing the signal space of channel estimation, the paper further optimizes this JCE algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms have good mean square error (MSE) and corresponding space frequency block coded (SFBC) cooperative multi-cell transmission system has the good bit error rate (BER) performance too.

Abstract

In order to solve the problems such as poor expansion, long development cycle of instrument control system developed by traditional programming language, using VISA module based on LabVIEW platform was introduced. This paper presented a simplicity, intuitive instrument control system of pneumatic measuring instrument, which was accomplished with graphical language LabVIEW. The system could also complete the text data output. It was improved that the system based on LabVIEW achieved instrument control efficiently, openly, with operating conveniently and good human-machine interface. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2719

Abstract

Minimal realization for linear systems has been studied extensively in the literature. Techniques proposed differ in terms of the configuration of the state space form, the time efficiency of the algorithm and the reduction of memory storage. The minimal realization toolbox presented in this paper offers the possibility to test different methods and choose the most suitable form depending on the application. The given system can be represented by a transfer function or by raw (frequency or time domain) data. A graphical user interface (GUI) was implemented in order to ease the use of this toolbox and allow to rapidly test the methods and display the results.

Abstract

At present, most of the precipitation’s level predictions use the laws of nature to build the mathematical model which contains one or more series level to carry out the numerical simulation, as thus to analyze the causes and consequences of the evolution. Bayesian model is one kind of the foregoing said. In the Bayesian classification model, Naive Bayes model is known for its stability and easy to operate, but the established precedent assumption tends to be inadmissible. So here the article proposed  a new precipitation’s level prediction model based on the tree Augmented Naïve Bayes(we called TAN model for short hereafter), which improve the original Naïve Bayes model defects and increase the association between the leaf nodes on the basis of the original model. And we use the Dongtai station, Jiangsu province meteorology data to test the new precipitation model. The results show that the new precipitation prediction model’s performance is superior to the traditional Naive Bayes model. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3997

Abstract

Balinese people have one of the civilization history and cultural heritage are handwritten in Balinese script on palm leaves known as Balinese Papyrus (LontarAksara Bali). Until now that cultural heritage is still continuously strived its preservation along with the implementation begin to be abandoned in public life. Some of Balinese Papyrus now begin to rot and fade under influenced by age. Information technology utilization can be a tool to solve the problems faced in the preservation of the Balinese papyrus. By using digital image processing techniques, the papyrus script can be reconstructed digitally so that it can be retrieved and store the content in the digital media. Balinese papyrus reconstructed through several processes from scanning into a digital image, performing preprocessing for image quality improvement, segmenting the Balinese characters on image, doing character recognition using LDA algorithm, rearranging the result of recognition in accordance with the original content in papyrus, and translating that characters result into Latin. LDA algorithm quite successfully performs the classification associated with handwritten character recognition.
