Abstract

In this work, we developed the NSSD-DT method, which allows us to track a target in a robust way. This method effectively overcomes the problems of geometrical deformation of the target, partial occlusion and allows recovery after the target leaves the field of view. The originality of our algorithm is based on a new model, which does not depend on a probabilistic process and does not require data-based beforehand. Experimental results on several difficult video sequences have proven performance benefits. The algorithm is implemented on a BCS 2835 system based on a quad core ARM processor, it is also compared to the software solution. NSSD-DT can be used in several applications such as video surveillance, active vision or industrial visual servoing.

Abstract

In this paper, a novel low cost, single-feed, and circular polarization reconfigurable antenna is designed and fabricated for future mid-band 5G applications. An innovative technique is used in this approach, which combines three techniques, namely: polygon U-slot, switchable vertical or horizontal slots, and shorting posts. The proposed antenna can alter its polarization sense between RHCP and LHCP with the ability to adjust the axial ratio position with respect to frequency along the impedance bandwidth of the antenna. The antenna is built on RT/duroid 5880 substrate with a maximum size of (31*31*3.15) .Two real diodes are integrated across the slot to change polarization sense. CST commercial software is used to simulate the antenna, and then it is fabricated and measured practically. Good agreements between the two results are achieved. However, The antenna has impedance bandwidth starting from 3.4995GHz to 3.73GHz with overlapped axial ratio bandwidth of 2.1% for both operation senses. Also, the antenna has good gain, and it has one resonant frequency at 3.6GHz for both operating states.

Abstract

Video question answering system is designed and developed  based on Flash platform technology, belongs of B / S (Browser / Server) structure, is used to meet the needs of specific groups’ teaching and studying. This paper describes core codes of database module and the real-time Q&A video module about video creating and video playback, also describes the relevant  realization technology and other functional modules  of the system. Abstract

In this paper, we study the performance of Low density Parity Check (LDPC) coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (COFDM) systems  when they are applied on the short data block of a narrowband (NB) power line communications (PLC) channel. In the modelled system simulations have been performed using different code lengths. It is assumed that the channel has a multipath propagation with two different noise scenarios: AWGN background noise with and without the presence of impulsive noise. Performances of Various soft and hard decision LDPC decoder schemes such as belief propagation (BP), weighted bit flipping (WBF), improved weighted bit flipping (IWBF) and implementation-efficient reliability ratio based weighted bit flipping (IRRWBF) decoders were investigated. It has been shown for all simulations performed in PLC channel model showed that remarkable performance improvement can be achieved by using short-length LDPC codes. Especially, the improvements are striking when the BP decoding algorithms are employed on the receiver side.

Abstract

Protection of Medical image contents becomes the important issue in computer network security. Digital Watermarking has becomes a promising technique for medical content authentication, it allows to embed relevant information with the image, which provides confidentiality, integrity and authentication by embedding Digital Signature (DS) with the Medical image. In this paper we focus on need for reversible watermarking, Medical Image Compression and security related problems in medical images, it comparing the performances of various lossless watermarking techniques for various medical image modalities like MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), US (Ultrasonic), CT (Computed Tomography), Endoscopic and Angiographic images. Region of Interest (ROI) supporting lossless watermarking systems only considered for discussions. Performance of all lossless watermarking with Digital Signature is analyzed by means of four parameters Capacity Rate, PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise ratio), NPCR (Number of Pixel Change Rate) and Compression Ratio (CR). This Paper also introduces new mechanism for open network security for medical images. This lossless watermarking is responsible for recovering the altered medical image content of the system.

Abstract

This paper proposes monitoring dispatching system solution based on the internet of things, which is through the analysis for port’s current situation, system components, operation process, communication protocol and safety alarm, etc. The system can fulfill real-time precise positioning monitoring and dispatching for port’s mobile terminals, and also fulfill real-time monitoring and effective management for the whole port. Abstract

Due to the nonlinear P-I characteristic of fuel cells, it is very important to implement a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller for practical applications. Based on analyzing the output characteristics of fuel cell power system, this paper presents extremum seeking sliding mode control method for MPPT of fuel cell power system under variable temperature and water content conditions. The approach is a combination of the extremum seeking and sliding mode methods. The simulation results show that the approach improves clearly the tracking efficiency of the maximum power available at the output of the fuel cell modules. Abstract

Water quality is one of the major factors that greatly affects growth and mortality rate of aquatic livestock especially in high density aquaculture system.  Conventional method requires fish farmer to perform manual water quality test and record on multiple fish tanks in regular basis. This process is meticulous, and may affect aquatic livestock that needs close and immediate attention. In this paper, water quality monitoring system for the high density aquaculture environment is proposed. The monitoring system is composed of multiple sensor nodes and sensor/server node hybrid, which used to collect and manage the water quality parameter data of multiple tanks. The sensor nodes collect and store the water quality parameters in local database and transmit them to the server node through a wireless communication. The server node is used for data analysis, processing and allow public access via web browser through various Wi-Fi enabled smart devices. This paper presents a proof-of concept of clustered wireless monitoring system focused on the use of multiple sensor nodes to determine the water parameter in real time. This system is cost effective, quickly deployable, and user-friendly with wireless capabilities.

Abstract

With the emergence of virtualization and cloud computing technologies, several services are housed on virtualization platform. Virtualization is the technology that many cloud service providers rely on for efficient management and coordination of the resource pool. As essential services are also housed on cloud platform, it is necessary to ensure continuous availability by implementing all necessary measures.  Windows Active Directory is one such service that Microsoft developed for Windows domain networks. It is included in Windows Server operating systems as a set of processes and services for authentication and authorization of users and computers in a Windows domain type network. The service is required to run continuously without downtime. As a result, there are chances of accumulation of errors or garbage leading to software aging which in turn may lead to system failure and associated consequences. This results in software aging. In this work, software aging patterns of Windows active directory service is studied. Software aging of active directory needs to be predicted properly so that rejuvenation can be triggered to ensure continuous service delivery. In order to predict the accurate time, a model that uses time series forecasting technique is built.

Abstract

Electronic commerce has been growing at a rapid rate in many countries, including developing countries. In recent years, social media and social networking sites have become popular and such popularity has led to a novel e-commerce branch known as social commerce. In Malaysia, it is observed that individuals and organizations have begun to sell and purchase using social media. But studies on s-commerce adoption in Malaysia are still lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of technological, organizational, and trust factors on social commerce adoption among SMEs in Malaysia. This paper presented the factors, collected from literature, which influence the adoption of social commerce, and the results of an exploratory pilot study.
