This paper deals with power quality improvement in fourteen bus system (FBS) using IDVR. Investigations were carried out to find the improvement of real and reactive power by employing IDVR during line outage condition. The closed loop responses of PI, PID and FL controlled systems are modelled and simulated using simulink and the results are obtained. Load flow studies were conducted for healthy system, FBS with line outage and FBS with line outage with inclusion of IDVR. The simulation studies indicate that, the voltage under line outage condition with IDVR is almost equal to the voltage under healthy condition. The Responses of closed loop systems with PI, PID and FLC are compared and the analysis shows the improvement in dynamic response in terms of settling time and steady state error. The advantages of proposed system is improved voltage stability, flexibility to control real and reactive powers and concluded that FLC based IDVR system had better time response. The prototype for four bus system with IDVR is modelled and the results are obtained.

In the modern society, there is a rapid increase in the need for color psychotherapy for psychological stability and environmental adaption of children for whom the interests of the parents are lacking in the midst of their busy daily schedules. Accordingly, we need to assess the emotional state of children through their drawings, etc. In this thesis, identification is made on color harmony by utilizing information of single and mixed colors in the color image space. Moreover, system for extraction of color psychology from the drawings of children is developed. First, emotional database is established on the basis of color image space. Then, enormous color values are group by clustering the images through the use of K-Means clustering. Emotions are extracted through matching with the database and child’s color psychology is examined by using color distribution chart. Empirical researches on sensibilities that are currently in progress are being pursued largely from psychological and engineering perspectives. Sensibility being understood in the area of psychology can be deemed close to being emotions. Meanwhile, sensibility understood from the engineering perspective can be defined as highly advanced psychological experiences induced in the minds of human beings from perception or cognition by external physical stimulation. This thesis demonstrated the overall excellence through experiment.

Aerodynamic torque of wind turbine is adjusted by controlling the pitch angle of the blades of the turbine when the wind speed is higher than rated wind speed. So that, in the recent research in this field, the pitch angle controller becomes dominated controller type for extracting the electrical power from the wind energy. Three types of the pitch angle control systems are designed to construct the speed controller: conventional PI controller, Neurofuzzy controller and modified PI-Neurofuzzy controller. The results are shown that the modified PI-Neurofuzzy controller is more efficient than the others because the rotation speed of generator is kept almost constant. It means that the generated output power has remained constant at maximum power limited even the wind speed rises up the rated wind speed.

Rolling bearings are one of the most widely used elements in industrial applications. Shock pulse method (SPM) has proven successfully as a diagnostic tool in determining bearing health. On the basis of illustrating the principle of SPM, this paper mainly concentrates on investigating the effect of different operating conditions on SPM. The shock pulse signals are derived from the wind turbine gearbox test rig by SPM instrument. Through comparing the slope of dB values when the rotating speed or load changes, effect of operating conditions on SPM is analyzed. The analysis results show that SPM is more sensitive to the rotating speed in contrast with the load.

There are a lot of speculations going on about the interests for privacy in mobile network. Many research works have been proposed in the aspect and these works concentrate more on the anonymity part and there are quite a few implementations of these research works on some applications. Ad hoc routing protocols must have provision for both anonymity providing nature and restriction of information collection from unauthorized nodes. Till recent times, there are a number of ad hoc routing protocols that have been introduced. But, they have lack security features or authentication features or in some cases both. The lack of proper security features leads to a state of vulnerability which at any given point, will act as a threat element. In this paper, we propose Security Mandated Analytics based Route Processing with Digital Signature protocol [SMARPDS]. It is an anonymous and authentication providing routing protocol in Mobile Ad hoc network. In addition, routes are discovered based on analytics done on the node and its present location in the network. SMARPDS provides authentication during the route discovery and transmission process by employing digital signatures on node front and also on packets front.

This paper is about preparation of silicone rubber (SiR) samples with different filler for high-voltage insulation purpose. The fillers used were silica from waste glass, calcium carbonate from cockle shell, silica/calcium carbonate and wollastonite. All the fillers were crushed into powder and undergo internal mixer and hot press as a material preparation. It was expected that the combination of filler with silicone rubber would give better result when experiencing ageing process. The direct current (DC) inclined plane test was used to investigate the tracking and erosion on silicone rubber composites. The tracking length was observed between the top and bottom electrode. Comparison would then be made between the silicone rubbers with different fillers based on the result obtained from the experiment.

Application mapping is one of the key problems of Network-on-Chip (NoC) design. It maps the cores of application to the processing elements of the NoC topology. This paper presents a novel approach for NoC application mapping, which uses adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) in the mapping. The proposed approach adaptively varies the probabilities of crossover and mutation operators in genetic algorithm, aiming to reduce the overall communication cost of NoC. Experimental results show that the proposed approach decreases the communication cost by 3% to 7% on average, compared to the existing approach using Standard Genetic Algorithm (SGA).

In this paper, a new power flow controlling device called Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC) is presented that offers the same control capability as the unified power-flow controller (UPFC) but with much lower cost and high reliability. The DPFC eliminates the common DC link within the UPFC, to enable the independent operation of the shunt and the series converter. The D-FACTS concept is employed to the series converter to increase the reliability. Multiple low-rating single-phase converters replace the high-rating three-phase series converter, which significantly reduces the cost and increases the reliability. The active power that is exchanged through the common DC link in the UPFC is now transferred through the transmission line at the 3rd harmonic frequency. The DPFC is modeled in a rotating dq-frame. The modeling and analysis of DPFC in a two area two bus interconnected system is done in MATLAB/Simulink environment and comparison between the DPFC and UPFC considering the power flow and cost are also shown.

The single-phase grounding fault has great negative influence on neural ineffectively grounding system of distribution network. This article has illustrated and compared commonly used fault locating techniques including the impedance method, travelling wave method and signal injection method. The author has detailed how fault locating could be realized and merits and shortcoming of each method. It is shown that every method still has its own space of improvisation. And the rapid development of smart grid has given directions to further researches. On one hand the current problems of fault location have been revealed in this essay. One step further, this article has made expectations for achieving more accurate and timely fault locating methods. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i3.4565
