Abstract

In this paper, a design of compact coplanar waveguide fed UWB slot antenna is presented. The proposed antenna has simple structure consisting rectangular slot with uneven coplanar ground structures. The proposed antenna structure is investigated by using MoM based electromagnetic solver IE3D. The simulation and measured results show that the antenna offers performance for wideband system from 4.5 GHz to11.8 GHz with return loss better than -10dB over the frequency spectrum with VSWR less than 2.5. The antenna configuration would be quiet useful for indoor applications. The antenna is fabricated and simulated. Abstract

This paper is concerned with the identification problem of two degree of freedom robot arm’s joints’ time-varying stiffness under time-varying torque loads. The industrial robot arms can be simplified into series hinged linkage mechanism. The unrestraint dynamic equation of two degrees of freedom robot arm can be obtained by using analytical mechanics method. The model which was established in Pro/E had been imported into ADAMS for simulation. And the simulation consisted of free vibration and forced vibration. Then by choosing limited memory least square method and using the post-processing measured variables, time-varying stiffness could have been identified. Finally, the calculative stiffness was compared to the “real” stiffness which was simulated in ADAMS. Abstract

With the development of network, the internet has more and more problems. Ubiquitous information services, diversified and comprehensive network business, different business may have different QoS requirements, and the safety credible information interaction, etc., these problems raise huge challenges to the supporting capacity of current network architecture system. Therefore, we should study out new future network architecture to meet the requirements of users. In this paper, we present a new network architecture based on reconfigurable and expansible, the core idea is to provide logic bearing networks with different QoS guarantees for different service. The architecture uses virtualization technology to abstract and divide the network resources, divide the network function module into business layer, ATS layer and ATC layer three functional surfaces from the point of view of whole network reconfiguration. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i10.3425

Abstract

This paper presents a study of a new dual-band monopole antenna fed by a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) line suitable for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications especially designed for RFID readers and covering free ISM bands of 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz. The proposed antenna benefits from the advantages of the CPW line to simplify the structure of the antenna into a single metallic level, by consequent making it easier for integration with microwave integrated circuits. The simulation of the antenna was carried out using ADS from Agilent technologies and CST Microwave Studio electromagnetic solvers. A good impedance bandwidth of 500MHz is achieved in measurement (from 2.1GHz to 2.6GHz for the lower band), while the upper band covers 800MHz (from 5.2GHz to 6GHz). Details of the proposed antenna design and both simulated and experimental results are described and discussed.

Abstract

Airline ticket reservations can be completed via ticket counters or online. To reduce passenger data redundancy, Single Identity (SI) may be required to input passenger data. In Indonesia, SI is utilised in identity cards using Near Field Communication (NFC), called electronic Kartu Tanda Penduduk (e-KTP). However, the use of e-KTP is not optimal yet because it is still used in the same way as the conventional one. Data input using SI can be done by tapping the e-KTP on a NFC-enabled machine, and the user is required to select the passengers’ names. The process of data input may be simplified, resulting in a higher transaction speed. This research result demonstrated that there was a slight difference of the time required between the two methods for ticket reservations. The time efficiency using SI through ticket counters was 48%, while the online reservation using SI was 45%. Further research may implement the validation methods, such as using PIN or fingerprint.

Abstract

Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers are extensively used in practical industries to control the speed of DC Motors. The single weakness of PID controllers is their sensitivity to variation in parameters and operating conditions; thus, tuning the controller gains to adapt with these variations presents a practical challenge. In this paper, an adaptive mechanism that utilizes a Recursive Least Square (RLS) algorithm, with rate limiters, is implemented to perform an online self-adjusting of each of the PID gains in order to achieve Adaptive PID (APID) controller that will accommodate to system variations. MATLAB/ Simulink software is used to implement and simulate APID control of a Chopper-Fed DC motor. A conventional PID control system is also designed and simulated to obtain results that can be used to judge the performance of the APID controller. Results proved that the APID controller forced the motor speed to track the reference input with insignificant tracking error, and also managed to attain the motor speed at its desired value, regardless of the load changes inflected on the motor. This enhances both transient and steady-state speed responses.

Abstract

The joint and recovery of paper scrap was an optimal matching issue. The automatic restoration technology for the broken document was designed according to different cutting ways of the paper shredder. As the fragment data was an one-side print file, a nonlinear programming model with no constraint conditions was established for the straight-cutting broken paper scrap from a given print file of the same page, and the nonlinear programming model with restraint programming model was established for the broken scrap with straight cut and cross cut. For the paper scrap data from a one-page print file in English printed on both sides, the joint was accomplished by the ant colony algorithm.

Abstract

An effective routing protocol to the vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETS) should have good performance whether status of the network. And the mobile AD hoc working group on network (MANETS), VANETS have special requirements of node mobility and extremely dependent on the application, and geographic routing protocol is one of the most suitable VANETS.GPSR is the most well known positioning agreement. In this study, we analyzed the  blind void detouring  problem, will appear devious perimeter for GPSR routing protocol when network contains routing void area, a node priority forward strategy method to solve this problem.The NS2 simulation results show that the proposed strategy can better realize packet forwarding and enhance package transportation efficiency. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2405

Abstract

This paper presents the modelling and simulation of controllers for controlling the position of two degree of freedom (2 DOF) mass spring damper system. Proportional integral (PI), fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and sliding mode controller (SMC) are design to minimize the vibration of the system that represent as building structure towards earthquake. A structural building is simulate based on real earthquake occur in El Centro on May 1940. The algorithm for building structure, actuator and controller is derived. Matlab/Simulink is used to analyze the performance of controllers towards the vibration building structure. At the end of the study the time response for two story building for uncontrolled and controlled system is present. Besides, the result for limitation voltage for each controller is also analyse to determine the maximum voltage consume for the system. The simulation results show the comparison of the controllers’ performance in suppressing the building vibration. From performance analysis, SMC provides better performance compared to PI and FLC based on structural vibration reduction.

Abstract

Urbanization is continuing around the world accompanied by a constantly growing demand for energy. For these reasons, new and efficient solutions for power transmission are required. To cope with these new challenges a novel SVC PLUS (Static Var Compensation SVC) for Reactive Power Compensation is designed and researched. SVC PLUS is an advanced STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) with Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) technology, also called (M-STATCOM). In this paper the M-STATCOM is simulated in PSCAD environment with 100 sub-modules per phase. Its static and dynamic characteristics are discussed. After compare and contrast different modulation schemes, harmonic contents in Level-shift sine pulse width modulation (LS-PWM) are found having least total harmonic distortions (THD) and with this modulation scheme converter can achieve more levels so it is found feasible to control the converter. The behaviour of circulating current with least ripples is also observed. In this paper, the traditional capacitor balance strategy is also modified.The viability of the MMCs as well as the effectiveness of the LS-PWM control method is confirmed by simulation. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v13i1.6821
