Abstract

Job shop scheduling problem (JSSP) is considered to belong to the class of NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. Finding a solution to this problem is equivalent to solving different problems of various fields such as industry and logistics. The objective of this work is to optimize the makespan in JSSP using Golden Ball algorithm. In this paper we propose an efficient adaptation of Golden Ball algorithm to the JSSP. Numerical results are presented for 36 instances of OR-Library. The computational results show that the proposed adaptation is competitive when compared with other existing methods in the literature; it can solve the most of the benchmark instances.

Abstract

This paper presents the design of new compact printed antennas for Ultra Wide Band applications, fed with a microstrip-line. The proposed designs consist of a patch antenna with defected ground, which are fed by 50Ω microstrip transmission line. The frequency range is 3.1-10.6 GHz which is the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) band of UWB. The proposed antennas are easy for integration with microwave circuits. They are validated into simulation by using two electromagnetic solvers CST-MW and Ansoft HFSS. The simulated input impedance bandwidth ranging 3GHz to more than 14 GHz is obtained with return loss less -10dB, and exhibits good UWB characteristics. The measured parameters are good agreement with the simulation. Therefore these antennas offer excellent performance for UWB system.

Abstract

It is well known that the development in the life style requires a robust enhancement in the provided services based on technologies. This paper suggests a mobile application under android environment that manages the information and sale systems regarding plants shop. The proposed application uses the Quick Response (QR) codes as identification of an object (plant). The proposed system includes two parts: server and client. The server side contains the most software application, such as database, while the client (mobile) side runs the website based interface between the application and users. QR tag is attached to each plant on the farm to be read by visitor’s mobile camera and sent to the server side using the designed web application. The received QR code is processed by the server and preparing the response with full information of a plant to be sent back to the mobile for user viewing. In addition, the proposed system offers a sale service to the user after performing registration. The proposed system is tested over different case studies and the obtained results show the efficiency of its performance.

Abstract

Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band is increasingly widely used in military maritime satellite communications due to its good communication performance. Electromagnetic wave emitted by satellite is reflected when reaching the sea surface, and multipath fading is very serious which causes interference on the received signal, especially when satellite elevation angle is low. In this paper, the UHF band multipath effects of sea surface were studied following the general principles of modeling in multipath effects. The numerical simulation was made based on Rayleigh criterion and the judgment basis was obtained which determines whether the specula reflected component or diffuse reflected component dominates in the reflected wave, and then the reflection coefficient of sea surface in different polarization modes were calculated. Finally, the power attenuation of reflected wave relative to direct wave for different wind speeds were simulated and analyzed. Numerical simulation results show that the greater the wind speed is, the greater the power attenuation of reflected wave will become and the more serious multipath fading will be. In addition, diffuse reflection attenuation is more serious than specular reflection. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i4.4787

Abstract

This study investigates the feasibility of photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals in monitoring health condition and designing a portable health monitoring kit which is suitable for home use. The aim of this study is to ease people in monitoring their health continuously without the need to go to the hospital which can save a lot of time. The focus of this study is to find heart rate and blood pressure recording. The type of PPG sensor used in this project is a non-invasive PPG which measures the blood volume changes in any part of the body. A total of 16 subjects consisting of male and female with age range of 20 to 60 years old were involved in this research. The heart rate and blood pressure for each subject were acquired and analyzed. Based on the result, it shows that higher heart rate reading is associated with female and younger age groups. Meanwhile, for blood pressure value, male subjects tend to have higher blood pressure as compared to female subjects. However, there is no specific pattern for blood pressure in terms of the age group. In the case of HRV analysis based on Kubios software, the SDNN value is higher for male and older age subjects. Meanwhile, the RMSSD value is lower for male and older age subjects. Therefore, PPG signal has the capability to monitor the health status of an individual, which acts as an alternative biological signal for the existing health monitoring systems.

Abstract

In recent years, increase in environment concerns and demand for energy are two main issues in ongoing growth of using solar systems. Solar energy has been known as a renewable and clean energy source. One of the most applied and new ways for using sun energy is hybrid photovoltaic technology. This paper discusses requirements, methods, limitations and technologies used in the hybrid photovoltaic-wind power system.

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the efficiency of some kind of Greedy Algorithms with respect to dictionaries from Hilbert spaces. We establish ideal Lebesgue-type inequality for Orthogonal Matching Pursuit also known in literature as the Orthogonal Greedy Algorithm for -coherent dictionaries. We show that the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit provides an almost optimal approximation on the first. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i1.1890

Abstract

Trajectory tracking control problem for internet-based tele-operation system is researched in this paper. The control structure of master and slave tele-operation manipulators adapts bilateral servo control architecture with force deviation feedback. The simulation model of three degrees of freedom (3-DOF) manipulator is presented. In order to ensure the synchronization of positions of the master and slave manipulators, a fuzzy PID control method is proposed. This control algorithm is to adjust the three parameters of PID controller online by fuzzy control method. The contrast simulation experiments of PID and fuzzy PID control methods show that the proposed control method can effectively improve the force and position tracking performance and reduce time delay. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.2923

Abstract

This paper presents the design of compact multi-mode microstrip resonator filters for dual-band application. The design is simulated using Advanced Design System (ADS) 2016 software. The benefit of the proposed filter is found to have a dual-mode frequency, where the odd-mode resonant frequency is the fundamental frequency represented by the length of the resonator while the even-mode resonant frequency is represented by the length of the stub. To validate the design, a prototype is fabricated on Rogers RO4003C substrate and measured using PNA Network Analyzer.

Abstract

India has an issue with little change in Restaurants, Auto-Taxi drivers, Retail Shops, Public Busses, and Markets wherever individuals experience the ill effects of coin lack issue. Yet at the same time, the regular man confronts lack of progress and frequently being paid in éclairs, mints and biting gums. This venture proposes an inventive arrangement called Byte-COIN; to take care of the coin lack issue that we are confront in our nation. The arrangement included a secured advanced payment framework that has reason assembled margins on the sum required in the exchange. Every exchange includes the support of the vendor and customer. In spite of the fact that there is no instant contact with the bank at the time of year of exchange, a base support of banks is important to effectively execute this. There is no need of a web association, in this way making it available to all aspects of the nation.
