Abstract

In order to recognize characters on the neat oracle bone rubbings, a new mesh point feature extraction algorithm was put forward in this paper by researching and improving of the existing coarse mesh feature extraction algorithm and the point feature extraction algorithm. Some improvements of this algorithm were as followings: point feature was introduced into the coarse mesh feature, the absolute address was converted to relative address, and point features have been changed grid and position relationship integrating into the feature vector. The recognition effect has been improved greatly using this algorithm to recognize oracle characters on the neat bone rubbings. Abstract

Smart and connected health care is of specific significance in the spectrum of applications enabled the Internet of Things (IoT). Networked sensors, either embedded inside our living system or worn on the body, enable to gather rich information regarding our physical and mental health. In specific, the accessibility of information at previously unimagined scales and spatial longitudes combined with the new generation of smart processing algorithms can expedite an advancement in the medical field, from the current post-facto diagnosis and treatment of reactive framework, to an early-stage proactive paradigm for disease prognosis combined with prevention and cure as well as overall administration of well-being rather than ailment. This paper sheds some light on the current methods accessible in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain for healthcare applications. The proposed objective is to design and create a healthcare system centered on Mobile-IoT by collecting patient information from different sensors and alerting both the guardian and the doctor by sending emails and SMS in a timely manner. It remotely monitors the physiological parameters of the patient and diagnoses the illnesses swiftly.

Abstract

New GNSS signal systems (MBOC/AltBOC) are different from traditional one (BPSK). Acquisition method of new signal systems need to be studied to adapt the new modulation scheme. On the other hand, there are more acquisition cells and long stop time on each cell because of the features of the new GNSS signal systems. So the average acquisition time of the new signals increase much longer than the former one. The new signal features was analyzed at first in this paper, and then the acquisition algorithm of QPSK and MBOC modulated signals was introduced separately. At last, a Multiplexing Channel of Time-Division technique and Multi-frequency aid algorithm was proposed to increase the acquisition speed. This new fast acquisition algorithm significantly reduced the average acquisition time of the new GNSS signal systems. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i3.4485

Abstract

As the problem of hole-filling in the high-curvature region of the triangular mesh isn’t satisfactory, a new algorithm is proposed. In the mesh subdivision process, judge the mean curvature of the triangles that have a common edge, if the edge in the high curvature area, inserting new vertices in different ways according to the different situations of the edge length to achieve the mesh subdivision. Abstract

This paper deals with the channel loss models of ultra-wideband radio wave propagation from 2 to 10 GHz application. IEEE 802.15.4a and Okumura channel loss reference models have been introduced and the estimation methods of channel transmission loss have been discussed with the environments of 2 to 10 GHz short range application. The channel transmission loss was measured in ZigBee circuit with 2 kinds of power, using IEEE 802.15.4a and Okumura channel model to estimate the theoretical channel loss, the theoretical value and the actual measured value were compared and analyzed. The analysis shows that the error between the calculated value and the actual measured value of the IEEE 802.15.4a reference model is small in the ultra-wideband ZigBee channel environment, and the error of the Okumura channel loss model is large. The results show that in the environments of 2 to 10 GHz short range application, IEEE 802.15.4a channel loss model is a high precision reference model for the ultra-wideband channel loss calculation.

Abstract

Establishment of wireless sensor network for Monitoring and Early Warning System (MEWS) of rainfall-induced landslide is still a challenging task due to problems of energy consumption. This research aim is to propose a new flexible system for the configuration of MEWS for rainfall-induced landslides. The proposed system is an integration a star topology and a tree topology, in which, the star topology is automatically used for the sensor nodes around the gateway node, whereas the tree topology is adopted for the other nodes. Consequently, the proposed configuration method is flexible and capable to save the energy consumption in the MEWS. Experiment result showed that the performance of the MEWS with the proposed method Wireless Sensor Network is better than those from the systems only use the tree topology or the star topology. The result of this study is useful for designing WSN for MEWS of rainfall-induced landslides.

Abstract

As known that the traditional DC constant voltage charging equipment not only can cause the battery overcharge or insufficient charging, but also the charging time is too long. In the paper, based on the theory of pulse charging method and the design of the pulsed fast intelligent charging equipment is presented, the implementation of hardware and software process of the system is given out, the analysis of the results show that it can effectively prevent overcharge and low charge phenomenon in the charging process of battery.

Abstract

An approach to determining the optimal cell number of manufacturing cell formation is presented. Firstly, the difference of weighting exponent, cluster center and metrics how to have an impact upon the clustering results and membership function are studied. Secondly, a method to determine the optimal m value is given. Two-order partial derivative of the objective function for FCM is calculated, and the variational weighting exponent m is obtained that can prevent the parameter from being the unique value and play an important role in the process of fuzzy clustering. Moreover, in order to avoid a single validity index can not assess correctly, partition coefficient (PC), classification entropy (CE), Fukuyama and Sugeno (FS) and Xie and Beni (XB) are considered as multi-performance indexes to evaluate the cluster validity, and then an optimal number c is chosen based on these validity measures. Abstract

This paper discussed the impact of multi-objective function in a swarm-based optimization approach for modulate proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller parameters of a static var compensator (SVC) in a single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system. SVC is a Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices which often used to increase the damping of the synchronous generator. In this paper, three parameters of PID controller: proportional gain, KP, interval gain, KI and derivative gain, KD are tuned with particle swarm optimization (PSO) approach. One multi-objective function (MO) that derived from the consolidation of maximum damping factor, σmax and minimum damping ratio, ξmin is proposed to elevate the damping capability of the systems. Validation with respect to speed response and eigenvalues verification proved that the proposed MO is more competent than single objective function.

Abstract

The economic dispatch problem of power plays a very important role in the exploitation of electro-energy systems to judiciously distribute power generated by all plants. The Unit commitment problem (UCP) is mainly finding the minimum cost schedule to a set of generators by turning each one either on or off over a given time horizon to meet the demand load and satisfy different operational constraints. This research article integrates the crow search algorithm as a local optimizer of Eagle strategy to solve economic dispatch and unit commitment problem in smart grid system.
