Abstract

Aiming at the characteristics which variable air volume air conditioning system is multi-variable, nonlinear and uncertain system, normal fuzzy neural network is hard to meet the requirements which dynamic control of multi-variable. In this paper, we put forward a recursive neural network predictive control strategy based on T-S fuzzy model. Through T-S fuzzy recursive neural network predictor on line established controlled object’s mathematical model, and using neural network controller on line corrected information we get, thus to improve control effect. The simulation results show that T-S fuzzy recursive neural network predictive control has stronger robustness and adaptive ability, high control precision, better and reliable control effect and other advantages.  DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i5.1277

Abstract

A transformer-less boost converter which provides high voltage gain without utilizing transformer or coupled inductors and extreme duty cycle is proposed in this paper.  Also it is able to cancel the ripples in the input current at a preselected duty cycle, without increasing the number of components. The converter combines the features of boost converter and a three switch high voltage converter. At the input side, two inductors are interleaved for cancelling the input current ripple and at the output side switched capacitor voltage multiplier is used to increase the voltage gain. Feedback control is used to make the output voltage constant in spite of variation in the input or load or both i.e. both line and load regulation is accompanied. This proposed converter configuration helps eliminate the input current ripple and provides voltage deregulation for low power applications.

Abstract

This paper proposes a four port three input-dc-dc boost converter for hybridising two photovoltaic systems and a storage medium. Three unidirectional ports are utilised to interface the converter with the two input sources and the output load. A bidirectional port interfaces the converter with the storage system. The two sources individually or simultaneously supply the load and charge the battery. The proposed technique employs only four independently controlled switches with different duty ratios. The regulated dc output can be obtained by controlling these four switches and tracking the maximum power of the two photovoltaic systems. Three different modes of operation of converter influenced by the state of battery are presented. The proposed system is validated and verified by simulation performed in MATLAB under various operating conditions. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v14i3.7854

Abstract

For the search and rescue robot navigation in unknown environment, a bionic self-learning algorithm based on A* and Q-Learning is put forward. The algorithm utilizes the Growing Self-organizing Map (GSOM) to build the environment topology cognitive map. The heuristic search A* algorithm is used the global path planning. When the local environment changes, Q-Learning is used the local path planning. Thereby the robot can obtain the self-learning skill by studying and training like human or animal, and looks for a free path from the initial state to the target state in unknown environment. The theory proves the validity of the method. The simulation result shows the robot obtains the navigation capability. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1605

Abstract

MANETs are self-organizing, infrastructure less ad-hoc networks with many challenges like low power, limited storage and limited processing devices. Among all the parameters that affect the network efficiency accuracy, scalability, and power consumption are main challenges in the routing of Mobile ad-hoc networks. The network lifetime is dependent on the power efficiency of the nodes in the network. The protocols have to provide the energy efficient route through intermediate nodes in the network. The trust based routing approach is one of the best mechanisms to establish an energy efficient route between source and destination. In this paper we first propose the family relationship based trust model and then propose a new energy efficient trust based routing protocol to reduce the routing overhead, delay and provides better packet delivery ratio that performs better than the existing routing protocols.

Abstract

The effectiveness of game and recreational activity (GaRA) can be determined from the application of fuzzy conjoint analysis (FCA). The analysis was used due to fuzziness in determining individual perceptions. This study involved a survey collected from 1494 students who participated in a Mathematics Discovery Camp organized by a UKM research group. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of modules delivered to cultivate affection and confidence in Mathematics through different factors. There were 11 games conducted for the participants, and their perceptions based on the evaluation of six attributes were measured. A seven-point Likert scale method representing seven linguistic terms was used to collect students’ preferences to indicate their perceptions of each GaRA module. Scores of perceptions were transformed into degrees of similarity. Results found that interest, effort and team work were the strongest values obtained from GaRA as participants strongly agreed that these attributes fulfilled their preferences in most module. The evaluation using fuzzy conjoint model implicated the successfulness of a fuzzy approach to evaluate fuzziness obtained in the Likert-scale, and has shown its ability in ranking the attributes from most preferred to least preferred.

Abstract

Multilevel inverters are used in high power and medium voltage applications. Employing multilevel inverter with renewable energy alone, the voltage balance cannot be made because the number of level increases in multilevel inverter the control gets complexity. So voltage imbalance problems are introduced. The voltage imbalance problems can be classified into two types; Midpoint unbalance and the central capacitor discharge. These problems can be solved by using voltage balancing solutions. The solutions are hardware based; software based, and combined solutions. By using these types of solutions the voltage balancing problems can be solved and the efficiency of multilevel inverter could be high. This paper reviews about various voltage balancing solutions in multilevel inverter.

Abstract

This paper focuses on modeling and closed-loop speed control of a three-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) fed by a Matrix Converter (MC) based on Field-Oriented Control (FOC). The model considers a set of a small input filter with supply impedance or cable effect, to improve the quality of the input current. A simplified form of the Venturini modulation algorithm is used for switching the matrix converter and a comparative study of two types of speed controllers is presented, namely a proportional integral (PI) and a proportional integral (PI) to improve performances of the drive system in transient and stable conditions. The overall drive system is simulated using Matlab/Simulink environment. The motor performance is evaluated under different operating conditions such as sudden changes in the load or changes in the angular speed reference. The results of the converter MC gives unlimited output frequency, sinusoidal input current and output voltage waveforms and unity input displacement factor. The IP controller is shown to achieve better performance of the speed control loop, with or without the load torque as compared to the PI classic controller.

Abstract

A kind of effective feature model of palm BIS data is presented according to the features of Palm bio-impedance spectroscopy (BIS) data. Based on immune clone algorithm and least squares method, an improved palm BIS feature selection algorithm is established, which can be applied to obtain the optimal feature subset that can be completely represented the palm BIS data, Finally, the algorithm is compared with other algorithms. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the feature subset obtained by the algorithm has reached 93.2 in SVM classification algorithm test. Therefore, the algorithm in this article is valid and reliable , which is of high theoretical and practical value.
