Abstract

In ultrasonic testing of coarse-grained materials, signal to noise ratio (SNR) of testing signals is reduced seriously for the structure noise, and echoes from defects are difficult to be identified. In order to improve the SNR and the reliability of ultrasonic testing of coarse-grained materials, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is introduced to process the testing signal here. Signal envelope can be formed by using cubic spline interpolation, and nonlinear and non-stationary signal can be decomposed self-adaptive into the sum of several intrinsic mode functions (IMF) by using characteristic time scale of the signals, and then higher order and tendency of the original signals can be obtained. The denoising experiment with low SNR simulated signal are achieved according to the feature of EMD, and SNR is enhanced more by comparison with the wavelet analysis method. And testing signal collected from coarse-grained materials is used to finish denoising experiment, and it is shown from the experiment result that the EMD has better adaptive ability in decomposing noise-polluted signals and less empirical information is required in the denoising process. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i9.3286

Abstract

We provide an image deformation method based on wavelet filter using control curves and moving least squares. The image is preprocessed firstly instead of being directly deformed by the old ways. And the original image will be filtered into a high frequency part and a low frequency part by the wavelet, and then use the moving least squares and the control curves only to deform the low frequency part, but not the high frequency part. The key points are set to create control curves according to shape information or deformation requirement, and moved to new position to deform the image using moving least squares. The final result of image deformation is obtained by adding the deformed low frequency part to the high frequency part of the original image. Experiments show that the high frequency detail information is well preserved and the image shape and contour are also well described, and so the deformation results are satisfactory and realistic. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4390

Abstract

Aceh's traditional clothing is cultural heritage in Indonesia. In today's, the problem faced is the lack of media to introduce cultural heritage in Aceh. Therefore was formed a media which could recognition Acehnese traditional clothing using Augmented Reality technology. Augmented Reality technology is used to users can add virtual objects to real environments. In this research, the method used is the Hybrid Tracking method, a Hybrid Tracking method is a combination tracking system of two or more tracking techniques, hybrid tracking is used to get a better tracking system and to get tracking speeds based on better distances. The results showed that the reading of markers by the cameras was greatly influenced by distance, light intensity, marker angle, and size of the device's RAM. The closest distance from the marker to the camera that can display 3D objects is 20 cm while the farthest distance cannot display 3D objects is 100 cm. And the angle of reading the marker is only around 0° an angle of 45°. The average distance that can detect markers is 0.5 m, the average time that can be detected is 0.068 sec, and the average speed obtained is 7.505 m / sec.

Abstract

This paper provides comprehensive review of recent formulation and solution of combined economic emission dispatch problem considering renewable energy. Generally, power dispatch plays an important role in power generation system that mainly depends on the fossil fuels. Rapid depletion of these sources cause a limitation and increase the fuel price. At the same time, the poisonous gases emit by the thermal generator causes a long term environmental pollution. An extensive researches have been conducted for last few decades by considering Renewable Energy (RE) in power generation system as an alternative source. Therefore, Combined Economic Emission Dispatch (CEED) of thermal and renewable energy resources currently formulated in power dispatch problem. The optimization methods that commonly used to solve the CEED problem are categorized as traditional method, non-conventional method and hybrid method. It can be concluded that non-conventional and hybrid method have great and superior solution for solving multiobjective economic emission dispatch problem. The recent research related to CEED with RE are summarized in terms of methods, test cases, conditions, types of RE and constraints. Thus, it can be useful references for the research in this area.

Abstract

It is necessary for electronic transformer to make calibration before putting it into practice. To solve the problems in actual calibration process, a novel electronic transformer calibrator is designed. In principle, this system adopts both the direct method and the difference method, which are two popular methods for electronic transformer calibration, by this way the application of the system is extended with its reliability improved. In the system design, based on virtual instrument technology, LabVIEW and WinPCap toolkit are used to develop the application software, and it is able to calibrate those electronic transformers following the standard of IEC 61850. In the calculation of ratio and phase error based on fast Fourier transform, a new window function is introduced, and thus the accuracy of calibration, influenced by the frequency vibration, is improved. This research provides theoretic support and practical reference to the development of intelligent calibrator for electronic transformers. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2322

Abstract

This paper presents error analysis of ON-OFF controller as well as ANN controller which is applied to an automated irrigation system. Controlling irrigation system was conducted  based on revised Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration and compared to a reference of soil moisture. Input parameters of the evapotranspiration included temperature, heat radiation, atmosphere pressure and wind speed. The output data of evapotranspiration was then used as input variable of ON-OFF controller as well as ANN controller. The performance of such controllers were evaluated and compared based on error of both controllers. The simulation results show that the error of the ON-OFF controller can be adjusted by setting the sampling time of the dead zone discretization. Error of ON-OFF controller with sampling time of 0.05 second is equal to error of ANN controller, that is 14.3% of reference signal amplitude.

Abstract

Opportunistic relaying scheme is a single cooperative relay selection method based on Channel State Information. However, the failure probability of the best relay selection may become unacceptable when the number of relays increases. Although most of the existing solutions can reduce the failure probability of relay selection, they ignore the fairness of the relay selection. In order to improve the fairness of the relay selection without affecting the failure probability of the best relay selection, we propose a modified practical best relay selection scheme in this paper,  and by introducing proportional fair algorithm, the relay timer will be given a smaller correlation coefficient. The proposed method makes the probability of selection be improved. In the light of defined fairness factor, the relay fairness is represented. Simulation results show that the new algorithm can improve the fairness of the relay selection on the basis of maintaining the original failure probability of relay selection. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3910

Abstract

In this research, we present and investigate the system performance analysis in terms of the outage probability (OP) and ergodic capacity (EC) of the Full-duplex (FD) relaying networks via double Rayleigh fading channel. In this system model, we propose the power splitting (PS) protocol for the vehicular communications network. Firstly, we analyze and derive the integral form of the system OP and EC. Then, the correctness of the OP and EC expressions are verified by the Monte Carlo simulation. Finally, we can see that the analytical and the simulation results are matched with each other in the connection with the main system parameter.

Abstract

Due to the high mobility of nodes in DTN, the topology is changing forever. On this base, putting forward an efficient routing protocol becomes a hot topic in this area. Focus on the moving character of nodes, putting forward a routing algorithm in DTN (BMI) based on perceptions of node mobile information. This algorithm improved from the classical routing protocol spray and wait. First, change the wait phase to active routing. Then consider the moving information of meeting nodes and purpose nodes, choose a node which has a higher possibility to meet the purpose node. Simulation results show that, this algorithm can significantly improve the delivery ratio and reduce the delay. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3065
