Abstract

Predicting an event can comes as a huge advantage for a lot of people, especially if it involves profits that a company can make. In this paper, matters that were discussed were the algorithms used for the event prediction systems, the type of algorithms and the comparison between different types of algorithm. Two main categories that were compared was the single algorithm for the prediction model and hybrid algorithms which is a combination of two or more algorithms in the model. Hybrid algorithm shows signs of better efficiency when data used were complex and large but a smaller dataset is more suitable with a single algorithm as the base as it is easier to apply with satisfactory results.

Abstract

Visual attention is a mechanism which filters out redundant visual information and focus on the most relevant parts when observing an image, many bottom-up computational models of visual attention have been devised to get the saliency map for an image. In this paper, a new visual attention model is proposed.Based on the experimental results obtained in this study, as compared with existing bottom-up visual model, the proposed model has better visual detection performance and low computational complexity. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3582

Abstract

The aim of this article is propose a method to improve the direct torque control and design a Fuzzy Logic based Controller which can take necessary control action to provide the desired torque and flux of an asynchronous machine. It’s widely used in the industrial application areas due to several features such as fast torque response and less dependence on the rotor parameters. The major problem that is usually associated with DTC control is the high torque ripple as it is not directly controlled. The high torque ripple causes vibrations to the motor which may lead to component lose, bearing failure or resonance. The fuzzy logic controller is applied to reduce electromagnetic torque ripple. In this proposed technique, the two hysteresis controllers are replaced by fuzzy logic controllers and a methodology for implementation of a rule based fuzzy logic controller are presented. The simulation by Matlab/Simulink was built which includes induction motor d-q model, inverter model, fuzzy logic switching table and the stator flux and torque estimator. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by the simulative results of the whole drive system and results are compared with conventional DTC method.

Abstract

Based on CAIDA’s (cooperative association for Internet data analysis) statistics at AS-level collected from April 2009 to April 2010, it is found that network size, degree correlations and clustering have changed significantly three times. According to the definition of k-core, the Internet topology is divided into different levels. In this paper, by analyzing the changing connection on each level at the three time spots, we found that the connection difference between the highest and the lowest level varies cyclically. Before Internet has significant change, the connection difference between the highest and the lowest shell changes acutely. At that time point it is the later stage of the fluctuation period which is the accumulation of small fluctuation. The concept of catastrophe coefficient is proposed for quantifying the probability of Internet catastrophe so that the catastrophe coefficient of Internet could be calculated on real time, and the catastrophe time spots could be predicted. Using real data for verification, it turns out that catastrophe coefficient can accurately predict the "giant fluctuations" occurrence in the macroscopic structure. With the proposal of the concept of catastrophe coefficient, the research can play an important guiding role in understanding the actual network internal development and changes, analyzing the cause of Internet catastrophe, preventing devastating catastrophe, planning and further re-designing Ipv6. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i2.1978

Abstract

Multiple features fusion based tracking is one of the most active research in tracking literature, In this paper, a novel adaptive fusion strategy is proposed for multiple features fusion, based on two common used fusion rules: product rule and weighted sum rule. This strategy employs particle filtering technique; product rule and weighted sum rule are unified into an adaptive framework through defined features distance. In practice, the new fusion strategy shows more robustness than product fusion and weighted sun rule.

Abstract

Engine have become one of the supportive asset for many activity and work, therefore engine need attention for its condition. The easiest way to do is through the acoustic sound of the engine itself. Most of the time, the engine sounds are checked using a traditional way that may causing a debate regarding its condition. This is due to no supportive scientific basis to know about engine condition using their own acoustic sound. A value from its frequency pattern is needed as scientific basis to determine an engine condition using acoustic sound. Method of envelope extraction by hilbert transform, fast fourier transform, and correlation coefficient are used to find that value. A series of tests have been carried out on the values that have been found and the result are promising for telling engine condition, but unfortunately the values has not been able to identify type of damage that occur on the engine.

Abstract

Link adaptation is a technique that able to adapt modulation and coding scheme (MCS) based on radio channel conditions. With the exponential increase on the wireless devices nowadays, it contributes to high energy consumption and an increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) emission which contribute to the environmental issue. Researchers have developed proposals to tackle these issues by design algorithms based on link adaptation technique. Nowadays, various link adaptation techniques have been proposed by researchers with target for either Quality of Service (QoS) enhancement as well as energy efficiency. This paper presents A Review on Link Adaptation Techniques for Energy Efficiency and QoS in IEEE802.11 WLAN. In this study, a comprehensive review of the relevant literature published that focus on link adaptation technique in IEEE 802.11 WLAN in improving the energy efficiency and maximize the QoS performance is presented. Link adaptation can be categorized into transmission power control adaptation, transmission data rate adaptation and joint rate adaptation. These adaptations are carried out according to the channel state information (CSI). CSI can be categorized into signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), bit error rate (BER), delay, and queue length.

Abstract

Distributed Generation (DG) generates electricity from many small distributed energy sources or even customer’s small power plants. It always comes up with the terminal customer power quality management and the technology of energy cascade utilization. DG has lots of characteristics such as one single point of access, being power and being load, two operating mode in a grid or as an island, a great deal of application of power electronic devices, easily influenced by natural environmental factors etc. DG has impacts to the original grid in terms of the grid structure, the direction of power flow, the fault current level when a fault happens, etc and subsequently the relay protection mechanism must be looked into. This paper analyses the impact of accessing the DG on the distributed grid in three cases which are the DG accessing to the end of the distributed feeders, to the middle, and the DG accessing to lines, on relay protections. At the end of the paper it also comes up with improvements in detail. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2674

Abstract

The existence of the enterprise architecture is an attempt of managing and planning over the evolution of information systems in the sphere of an enterprise with model-based. In developing the enterprise architecture, there are several tools definition of components in the system. This tool is known as enterprises architecture (EA) framework. In this paper, we present a method to build a model of enterprise architecture in accordance with the needs of the Organization by Understanding the characteristics of the EA framework such as Zachman, TOGAF, and FEAF. They are selected as the EA framework will be used to determine the characteristics of an EA because the framework is most widely used in corporate or Government. In COBIT 5 framework, there is a process associated with enterprise architecture it is APO03 Manage Enterprise Architecture. At this stage of the research, we describe the link between the characteristics of the EA with one process in COBIT 5 framework. The results contribute to give a recommendation how to design EA for organization based on the characteristic of EA in Context Enterprise Governance using COBIT 5 Framework.

Abstract

Through the research of the digital modulation signals, we find that the signal would produce a series of spectrum lines after a specific nonlinear transformation. Therefore, this characteristic has a certain potential in the signal modulation recognition. In this paper, first, we analyze the spectrum lines mechanism of modulation signals (4PAM、BPSK、QPSK、8PSK、2FSK、4FSK), then, we use AR model to extract the spectrum lines characteristics of modulation signals to identify different signals. In the end of the paper, the above-mentioned six signals are simulated in the MATLAB environment. Simulation results show that the recognition of the modulation signals through this method has good stability in non-ideal communication environment. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i3.4156
