Abstract

A novel image fusion scheme for multi-band SAR images based on Directionlet transform is proposed. Firstly, multi-band images can be decomposed into low-frequency coefficients and high-frequency coefficients with multi-scales and multi-directions using the Directionlet transform. For the low-frequency coefficients, the average fusion method is used. For the each directional high frequency sub-band coefficients, the directive edge information measurement and the larger value of region variance information measurement is used to select the better coefficients for fusion. At last the fused image can be obtained by utilizing inverse transform for fused Directionlet coefficients. Experimental results show that compared with traditional algorithm, the proposed algorithm can get better visual effect and the significant information of original image like textures and contour details is well maintained DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.2881

Abstract

Generally induction motor drives posses higher harmonic contents in line voltage and current due to high switching frequency used in inverters. Conventional induction motor drives employ two level voltage source inverters which has THD in level of 50%. This paper presents a switched z-source multilevel inverter which has voltage boosting capability and has lesser THD level in comparison with conventional two level voltage source inverters. This drive is fed from a photo voltaic source because of its voltage boosting capability. A single phase five level switched z-source inverter is initially designed and considered as single cell and three such cells are created for powering three phase induction motor. The proposed three cell PV source switched z-source multilevel inverter for three phase induction motor is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink software to verify merits of proposed IM drive

Abstract

The increasing development of the Internet, more and more applications are put into websites can be directly accessed through the network. This development has attracted an attacker with phishing websites to compromise computer systems. Several solutions have been proposed to detect a phishing attack. However, there still room for improvement to tackle this phishing threat. This paper aims to investigate and evaluate the effectiveness of machine learning approach in the classification of phishing attack. This paper applied a heuristic approach with machine learning classifier to identify phishing attacks noted in the web site applications. The study compares with five classifiers to find the best machine learning classifiers in detecting phishing attacks. In identifying the phishing attacks, it demonstrates that random forest is able to achieve high detection accuracy with true positive rate value of 94.79% using website features. The results indicate that random forest is effective classifiers for detecting phishing attacks.

Abstract

This paper proposed two integrity verification schemes based on Schnorr Signature Scheme. One is safety integrity verification scheme (SIVS). Another is efficient integrity verification scheme (EIVS). They are difference in characteristics. EIVS has good computational costs while SIVS has high security guarantee. However, they are similar in work. The cloud storage server will choose a set of file blocks and verification blocks randomly while the user sends a challenge, and generate response values to send to the user. The user generates a set of signatures to verify the values. The aim is to check whether the cloud storage server preserves perfectly the user's file or not. In contrast with other schemes, the approach not only has double integrity verification guarantee schemes but also pay lower costs for communication and computation.

Abstract

Recently, a three-phase Field Excitation Flux Switching Motor (FEFSM) using salient rotor has been introduced, suitable for high torque, high power as well as high speed diverse performances due to their advantages of easy rotor temperature elimination and controllable field excitation (FE) flux. However, existing FEFSMs are found to have low torque performance as the salient rotor structure has caused longer flux path, and consequently weak flux linkage. Therefore, a new structure of a single-phase FEFSM using segmental rotor and non-overlap windings is proposed. There are two valuable findings found in this topology, first is less copper loss due to the non-overlap windings between armature and FE coils, and secondly the segmental rotor structure has produces shorter flux path to produce high torque, less rotor weight as well as robust rotor at high speed condition. Flux linkage, back-emf, average torque and output power characteristics of the initial and optimized designs have been investigated and compared using 2D Finite Element Analysis (2D-FEA) through JMAG Designer version 15. Based on the 2D-FEA analysis, the average torque has increased by 81.3% to 1.65 Nm, while the output power of 466.5 W, increased of 68.2%. In conclusions, a FEFSM using segmental rotor and non-overlap windings is considered as the best single-phase motor due to their optimal performances and less copper loss.

This paper proposes a test method for process deadlock based on graph grammars through constructing process resource diagram. Through using the construction rules, it can construct and judge the validity of the process resource diagram. Through using the test rules, it can test if there is the deadlock in the process. Abstract

This paper presents an alternative method to reduce the monthly electricity bill at Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy (CERE) which is by installing a stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system. In the stand-alone PV system, apart from the PV module and loads, other components in the system such as battery, charge controller, inverter and protection device are categorized under Balance of System (BOS) component. In order for the loads to receive adequate energy to operate, the overall system must be sized through calculations due to find the optimum combination. This sizing will determine the amount of each component that needed in the system. The hardware is setup in front of CERE building which located at Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia. As the results from the calculation, the system required 6 units of PV module, 5 units of battery and a 0.23 kW inverter. The cable and protection devices are from the calculation. The entire system was successfully installed and was able to support the load demand.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the model of a cyclone-turbine for a micro-scale wind-power system being motivated by an idea to harvest the abandoned energy from rooftop ventilators. The system under consideration has been equipped with a battery to form a wind-battery power system. Data obtained from a wind site observation have been used to calculate the potentially generated power and efficiency, as well as the mechanical and electrical designs to extract the energy. The design has been explored to obtain the best efficiency of the cyclone-turbine model. The impact of wind-speed variation on the resulted system output has been investigated during the charging process of battery. The conclusion emphasizes the relationship between the output power and the range values of the resulted current and voltage, as well as the optimum wind speed-range of the cyclone-turbine operation.

Abstract

This paper presents a modified kernel-based Active Shape Model for neutralizing and synthesizing facial expressions. In recent decades, facial identity and emotional studies have gained interest from researchers, especially in the works of integrating human emotions and machine learning to improve the current lifestyle. It is known that facial expressions are often associated with face recognition systems with poor recognition rate. In this research, a method of a modified kernel-based active shape model based on statistical-based approach is introduced to synthesize neutral (neutralize) expressions from expressional faces, with the aim to improve the face recognition rate. An experimental study was conducted using 3D geometric facial datasets to evaluate the proposed modified method. The experimental results have shown a significant improvement on the recognition rates.
