Abstract

Popularity of Mobile ad hoc network in research is  due to their ad hoc nature and effectiveness at the time of disaster management when no infrastructure support is available. Due to the limited transmission range of wireless network interfaces, multiple network hops may be needed for nodes to exchange data across the network. In such a network, each mobile node operates as a router, forwarding packets for other mobile nodes in the network that may not be within the direct reach. Routing protocols developed for wired networks such as the distance vector or link state protocols are inadequate here as they not only assume mostly fixed topology but also have high overheads. This has lead to several routing algorithms specifically targeted for ad hoc networks. In this paper, we include the MANET supported routing protocols and their performance analysis over different performance parameters such as packet delivery ratio, delay, throughput, control overhead and energy etc.

Abstract

In the numerous agricultural information technologies, agricultural knowledge system has become an important part of the agricultural intelligent information technology (AIIT). Abstract

This article presents the investigation of specific absorption rate (SAR) of a rectangular-shaped planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) at frequency of 2.6 GHz. Initially, the design antenna is presented with parametric study concerning the dimensions of antenna patch length, shorting plate, ground plane and substrate. The proposed PIFA antenna has -20.46 dB reflection coefficient and 2.383 dB gain. The PIFA’s SAR is correlated with the antenna gain and excitation power. The analysis shows that higher gain contributes to a lower SAR value. While, the higher excitation power causes a higher SAR value. All the design and analysis are performed using the CST Microwave Studio

Abstract

The focus for quasi-Newton methods is the quasi-Newton equation. A new quasi-Newton equation is derived for quadratic function. Then, based on this new quasi-Newton equation, a new quasi-Newton updating formulas are presented. Under appropriate conditions, it is shown that the proposed method is globally convergent. Finally, some numerical experiments are reported which verifies the effectiveness of the new method.

Abstract

Data mining is the process of discovering knowledge and previously unknown pattern from large amount of data. The association rule mining (ARM) has been in trend where a new pattern analysis can be discovered to project for an important prediction about any issues. Since the first introduction of frequent itemset mining, it has received a major attention among researchers and various efficient and sophisticated algorithms have been proposed to do frequent itemset mining. Among the best-known algorithms are Apriori and FP-Growth. In this paper, we explore these algorithms and comparing their results in generating association rules based on benchmark dense datasets. The datasets are taken from frequent itemset mining data repository. The two algorithms are implemented in Rapid Miner 5.3.007 and the performance results are shown as comparison. FP-Growth is found to be better algorithm when encountering the support-confidence framework.

Abstract

The Semi-Automated Double-Sided Livestock (SADSL) MixFeeder is designed to automatically feed and acts as a mixer for the ingredients of the livestock. The machine provides owners of these animals the freedom to be away from their reared animals for up to a week at a time and can be confident that their animals are being fed properly. The software design for the SADSL MixFeeder utilizes custom software written in the language of the Arduino development environment to implement all the functions required to control the feeder using Arduino microcontroller-based system. The prototype for SADSL MixFeeder is designed and implemented successfully.

Abstract

In order to research the influence of the contamination around the external insulating surface of DC voltage divider with different types in the electic field distribution by using the finite element method, a two dimensional axisymmetric model of the DC voltage divider in Longquan convertor station is built. Through the calculation comparison in electrostatic and quasi-electrostatic field, the relative dielectric constant of the dry, moist and the non-uniform mixed contamination layer is discussed under the condition of the material parameters is known in quasi-electrostatic field .Analysis shows that for dry contamination,the field type has no influence on the electric field distribution when the parameters of the materials are same. While for moist contamination,the relative dielectric constant in electrostatic field should be set according to the material resistivity in quasi-electrostatic field and the actual condition. The calculation of the non-uniform contamination prove that the materials parameters in electrostatic filed is reasonable.

Abstract

This research focuses on the design and development educational game using Microsoft Kinect. The edugame can be used as educational tool in a classroom as to create an interesting and interactive learning process. This research is also focused on mathematics as its educational content using Microsoft Visual C#, XNA Game Studio, Microsoft Kinect for Windows SDK, and Microsoft Kinect as the main hardware. There are about eleven topics regarding mathematics based on the module provided by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. The interface of the game has been designed and developed to be interactive and attractive using some cartoon graphics, such as Ipin, Boboiboy, and Yaya. The developed game is a quiz base program, where student will have 10 questions each round and 4 choices of answers for every question. Currently, this educational game is designed for Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 primary school students, and it has been evaluated by a group of 8 students. Furthemore, it has been evaluated and validated by a school teacher, in which they confirm the effectiveness of the developed game to improve student’s learning on Mathematics.

Abstract

In this paper, a replacement new parameter conjugate gradient  for unconstrained optimization. The sufficient descent property cleave to. The global convergence property of the new method is proved under some assumptions. Numerical results explain that the  new parameter is superior  in practice.

Abstract

Graphene is an allotrope (form) of carbon consisting of a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in an hexagonal lattice. It is the basic structural element of many other allotropes of carbon, such as graphite, charcoal, carbon nanotubes and fullerenes. In this paper, a tunable hybrid metal-graphene antenna in the microwave regime is proposed. This antenna composed of the copper patch and four graphene strips. The antenna designs used for the cellular long-term evolution system and the operating frequency bands of 1.8, 2.5, 2.6, and 3.6 GHz, are evaluated to demonstrate the working principle and the performance tradeoffs. Furthermore, the proposed antenna can be tuned by varying applied DC voltage on the graphene which leads to change in the chemical potential of the graphene and hence the surface conductivity and electrical properties are changed. The simulation results reveal that the antenna operates in multi-band where scattering factor S11< -10 dB. In addition, the results show that hybrid metal-graphene frequency reconfigurable antennas can, at the same time, provide a tunable bandwidth and antenna matching.
