Abstract

We study new methods of secure cloud processing of big data when solving applied computationally-complex problems with secret parameters. This is one of the topical issues of secure client-server communication. As part of our research work, we model the client-server interactions: we give specific definitions of such concepts as “solvable by the protocol”, “secure protocol”, “correct protocol”, as well as actualize the well-known concepts-“active attacks” and “passive attacks”. First, we will outline the theory and methods of secure outsourcing for various abstract equations with secret parameters, and then present the results of using these methods in solving applied problems with secret parameters, arising from the modeling of economic processes. Many economic tasks involve processing a large set of economic indicators. Therefore, we are considering a typical economic problem that can only be solved on very powerful computers.

Abstract

Singular nonlinear systems have received wide attention in recent years, and can be found in various applications of engineering practice. On the basis of the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) formalism, which represents a powerful tool allowing the study and the treatment of nonlinear systems, many control and diagnostic problems have been treated in the literature. In this work, we aim to present a new approach making it possible to estimate simultaneously both non-measurable states and unknown faults in the actuators and sensors for a class of continuous-time Takagi-Sugeno singular model (CTSSM). Firstly, the considered class of CTSSM is represented in the case of premise variables which are non-measurable, and is subjected to actuator and sensor faults. Secondly, the suggested observer is synthesized based on the decomposition approach. Next, the observer’s gain matrices are determined using the Lyapunov theory and the constraints are defined as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical simulation on an application example is given to demonstrate the usefulness and the good performance of the proposed dynamic system.

Abstract

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension due to any events that makes one feel frustrated, angry or nervous. It a situation that trigger particular biological response when encounter a threat or challenge. This paper discussed stress classification based on human electromagnetic radiation (EMR). At first, the collected radiation frequency data is analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) to identify the significance points for the classification. Then, the data is classified using locally weighted learning (LWL) algorithm. The results show stress classification using EMR based on third eye and throat chakra points obtained accuracy of more than 60%.

Abstract

Currently there is no method, feature, or ability in securing data transmission in microcontroller systems and applications with client-server scheme communication, while major modern computer systems using secure socket layer (SSL) for establishing secure communication. However, ESP espressif based microcontroller has supported SSL communication to secure data transmission, but only works on the Wi-Fi network. A single-board computer based embedded system has fully supported SSL communication, but it costs a very high price. On the other hand, STM32F103 microcontrollers with a very affordable price even cheaper than the Arduino board has the opportunity to build secure data communication using SSL protocol based on MbedTLS library. In addition to wiznet W5100/W5500 ethernet shield, an STM32F103 SSL client device has been successfully built in this study. The SSL client device supports ECDHE ECDHA AES128 CBC SHA256 SSL cipher suite. The Apache web server must also be configured to support this cipher suite by generating OpenSSL ECC (elliptic curve cryptography) certificate. The system was tested with the LM35 analog temperature sensor, and as a result, the STM32F103 SSL client has successfully secured the data transmission to the Apache SSL web server. The communication time was 3 seconds for the first connection and 42 ms for the next data transmission.

Abstract

SQL injections attacks have been rated as the most dangerous vulnerability of web-based systems over more than a decade by OWASP top ten. Though different static, runtime and hybrid approaches have been proposed to counter SQL injection attacks, no single approach guarantees flawless prevention/ detection for these attacks. Hundreds of components of open source and commercial software products are reported to be vulnerable for SQL injection to CVE repository every year. In this mapping study, we identify different existing approaches in terms of the cost of computation and protection offered. We found that most of the existing techniques claim to offer protection based on the testing on a very small or limited scale. This study dissects each proposed approach and highlights their strengths and weaknesses and categorizes them based on the underlying technology used to detect or counter the injection attacks.

Abstract

This paper aims to demonstrate the practical aspects of process control theory for undergraduate students at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bahrain. Both, the ubiquitous proportional integral derivative (PID) as well as model predictive control (MPC) and their auxiliaries were designed and implemented in a real-time framework. The latter was realized through retrofitting an existing plate-and-frame heat exchanger unit that has been operated using an analog PID temperature controller. The upgraded control system consists of a personal computer (PC), low-cost interface using X-transposed-region (XTR) converter, national instruments USB 6008 data acquisition card, and LabVIEW software. LabVIEW control design and simulation modules were used to design and implement the PID and MPC controllers. The performance of the designed controllers was evaluated while controlling the outlet temperature of the retrofitted plate-and-frame heat exchanger. The distinguished feature of the MPC controller in handling input and output constraints was perceived in real-time. From a pedagogical point of view, realizing the theory of process control through practical implementation was substantial in enhancing the student’s learning and the instructor’s teaching experience

Abstract

Despite proposing a number of algorithms and protocols, especially those related to routing, for the purpose of reducing energy consumption in wireless sensor networks, which is one of the most important issues facing this type of network. In this research paper, energy consumption and cost are calculated taking into account energy consumption and the amount of data transferred to a thousand nodes through specific paths towards the mobile sink. The proposed model simulated by sending various amounts of data with specific path to know the energy consumption of each track and the network life time with 250, 500, and 1000 bits. Cost calculated using various weight for each track of these paths and the coefficient of movement time and path loss factor and others related to the transmission and receiving circuits. And finally, the results compared with a previous method it showed the efficiency of our method used and calculating 1000 nodes with various amount of bits to show the experimental results. Deep learning used to remember each and every path of each position or nearby to avoid calculation cost later.

Abstract

This article discusses the instrumentation system of airlangga robotic triage assistant version 1 (ARTA-1), a robot used as a contact-free triage assistant for Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) suspects. The triage process consists of automatic vital signs check-up as well as the suspect’s anamnesis that in turns will determine whether the suspect will get a specific care or not. Measurements of a suspect’s vital conditions, i.e. temperature, height, and weight, are carried out with sensors integrated with the Arduino boards, while a touch-free, hand gesture questions and answers is carried out to complete anamnesis process. A portable document format (PDF) format of the triage report, which recommends what to do to the suspect, will then be automatically generated and emailed to a designated medical staff.

Abstract

Two types of first-order circuits are resistor-capacitor (RC) and resistorinductor (RL). This paper focuses on the RL circuit equation. The centroidalpolygon (CP) scheme will be tested using SCILAB 6.0 software. This new scheme (CP scheme) is addressed to improve the speed. For the first order circuit equation, the complexity is focused on the time complexity, which is speed of the time taken to complete the simulation in the electrical part. The CP scheme is compared with the previous studies, polygon (P) and harmonic-polygon (HP). The result shows that the CP scheme is less computational and an alternative to solve the first order circuit equation, and get the result quickly compared with the previous research.

Abstract

Transmission control protocol provides reliable communication between two or more parties. Each transmitted packet is acknowledged to make sure successful deliveries. Transport layer security protocols send security information exchange as TCP loads. As results, the handshaking stage experiences longer delay as TCP acknowledgement process has already been delay prone. Furthermore, the security message transfers may have their own risks as they are not well protected yet. This paper proposes TCP-embedded three pass protocol for dynamic key exchange. The key exchange is embedded into TCP headers so that transmission delay is reduced, and message transfer is secured. The proposed protocol was assessed on self network by using socket programming in lossless environment. The assessments showed that the proposed protocol reduced three-pass protocol message transfer delay up to 25.8% on lossless channel. The assessment on security also showed that TCP-embedded three pass protocol successfully secured each transmitted TCP load using a unique key; that is much securer than the compared method.
