Abstract

The target of stand-alone hybrid power generation system was to supply the load demand with high reliability and economically as possible. To design these criteria the optimal design of the proposed configuration should be done by using intelligent optimization technique.  This study utilized Genetic Algorithm method to determine the optimal capacities of hydrogen, wind turbines and micro hydro unit according to the minimum cost objective functions that relate to these two factors. In this study, the cost objective function included the annual capital cost, annual operation maintenance cost, annual replacement cost and annual customer damage cost. The proposed method had been tested in the hybrid power generation system located in Leuwijawa village in Central Java of Indonesia. Simulation results showed that the optimum configuration can be achieved using 19.85 ton of hydrogen tanks, 21 x 100 kW wind turbines and 610 kW of micro hydro unit respectively. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1326

Abstract

Cloud computing is the way of computing, where all the computing resources are available as a service over the internet based on requirements of the users. Virtualization is the concept which plays very important role in reducing the cost of investment and increases utilization and allows multi-tenancy. This concept helps to create virtual resources out of existing physical resources. When the virtual resources are created, they may face the problems due to various reasons and may not work properly. Providing the protection to these virtual resources and make them to work without any problem is the important. Here we introduce an approach called duplication method which allows the users to create more number of same virtual resources, so that if one of the resources fail due to some reason, users may have some more same resources to continue without disturbing their work and provide the security at different levels to make Virtual resources secure.

Abstract

This study proposed the method to improve the result of Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) by optimizing the weight vectors using a genetic algorithm (GA) to detect the diabetics. Initial value of individuals for GA is taken from weight vectors which come from the last m iterations of LVQ training result. The result of experiment showed that there is a significant increase in sensitivity level, however there is a significant decrease in specificity level. It means the proposed method success in improving the LVQ ability to recognized the diabetics, but it lowers the ability of LVQ to recognize the people unaffected by diabetes. This study proposed the method to improve the result of Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) by optimizing the weight vectors using a genetic algorithm (GA) to detect the diabetics. Abstract

In the paper a template technology has been applied to the complex platform of machine olfaction system. The simulation sensor array template receives field odor data or simulates the data via recorders in database, then transmits to the platform which consists of several distributed monitoring subsystems. Each subsystem matches a set of gas sensors array, and has functions of logging data, communicating and simulating industry application. The data from the subsystem and the preprocessed data are sent to the web server center and stored in the databases. Then sensors perform analysis by several layer algorithms. And the exchanging algorithms convert the field odor data to gas concentrations with ppm values, the expert systems or recognition algorithms analyze the ppm values and show the application results. All data of each layer are stored in server database systems, and each layer algorithms can be updated and saved. Finally, the supporting platform that applied to industrial monitoring systems, was developed with a kind of industrial configuration softwares, web MIS and databases, and was utilized to realize monitor to the environmental systems by the simulation template. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5451

Abstract

In this paper, a LGJ150/25 type ACSR transmission line and a CGU-3 type suspension clamp are taken as research objects. A contact model of the conductor and the clamp was established by using finite element method. The effects of sag angle of the conductor, holding force and tension force in section are analyzed. The results showed that the contact area in the middle of the clamp is of belt-like type. The extreme values of tress were observed on the edge of the contact area and near the edge of keeper. In clamp section, suspension angle had the greatest influence on contact stress, and then the clamp force. The tension force in section played a most important role in these affecting factors. In the exit section of clamp, the biggest impact factor was tension force in this section, then the suspension angle, the third was clamp force. The results provide theoretical basis on reducing corona loss, optimization the clamp. Doubtlessly, the conclusion has important theoretical significance and application value. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2227

Abstract

Millimetre wave band is a solid contender to be utilized for the future 5G wireless systems deployment. Rain-induced attenuation is a major disadvantage at these frequencies. This paper presents statistics of rain-induced attenuation and rainfall data for two years of horizontally polarized links propagating at 38 GHz and 26 GHz over a terrestrial path link of 301 meters. From the analysed datasets, a rain rate around 116 mm/h exceeded at 0.01% of the time of an average year, while the links recorded 16 and 9.5 dB at the same percentage of time for 38 and 26 GHz respectively. The study aims to identify the prediction model that deliver most reasonable predictions for 5G links operating in Malaysian tropical climate. ITU-R P.530-17, Mello’s, and Ghiani’s models were all examined. Using ITU-R model, relative error margins of around 3.8%, 30% and 49.7% alongside 22.3, 9.5, 33% were obtained in 0.1%, 0.01% and 0.001% of the time for 26 and 38 GHz respectively.  Curiously, ITU-R model demonstrates better predictions to measured rain attenuation with lower error probability. This study highlights the need for new prediction models for short path-length 5G links and helps to improve the design of terrestrial links operating at millimetre wave frequencies in tropical regions.

Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of multi target detection that appears inside clutter cloud which represent the worst radar environments by using constant false alarm rate CFAR algorithm, in order to achieve maximum probability of detection with constant false alarm rate, to detect target in such environments it need to construct robust constant false alarm CFAR algorithm that excise the target spikes from CFAR window and deal with clutter edges in order to give best possible estimation to the noise background. Modified cell averaged (CA-CFAR) is analyzed and compared with Two important algorithms which are cell averaged (CA-CFAR) and ordered statistics (OS-CFAR) algorithms in additional to the modified CA-CFAR algorithm. All these algorithms were simulated with mat lab and applied them to matlab clutter test model that represent different radar environment cases. Tradeoff among these algorithms depending on their responses.

Abstract

Object tracking is a issue in the domain of computer visual, most of current state-of-art approaches for visual tracking adapt tracking-by-detection, using detection to address tracking problem. While suitable for cases when the object is always in the sense and these algorithms always results in failures and can’t track back after failure. This paper we propose a tracking method based on failure recovery. After we choose an object to tracking in the first frame, the object is tracked by improved optical flow method forward and backward in time then compute the distance between these two trajectories. While the distance larger then threshold tracking likely to fail, but the latest object model return by detector will re-initialize the tracker. Tracking an object on camera video approve our approach can work at 20fps with long-time robustness. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i2.4214
