Abstract

High oxidants in the body and exposure from the outside can have an impact on the skin. The skin can become darker and duller. This causes the use of bleaching agents to be increasingly used. Many whitening agents that are made from chemical raw materials are toxic so that breakthroughs in raw materials that are natural and safer are offered. The natural raw material that can act as a whitening agent is mulberry fruit. Mulberry extract is rich in phenol, arbutin, tannin, which works as an antioxidant and tyrosinase inhibitor in the formation of pigments in the skin.

Abstract

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a type of cancer that has a considerable prevalence in Indonesia. Nasopharyngeal cancer is associated with Epstein-Barr virus infection, which also correlates with other factors. These factors are age, genetic, environmental and oral hygiene. Usually, nasopharyngeal cancer is late for diagnosis, so it is always found at an advanced stage. In individuals in risky communities, early detection of nasopharyngeal cancer can be done, without being invasive. The examination that can be done is EBV virus serology analysis and EBV DNA examination. The examination can use simple samples such as nasopharyngeal smear and saliva. This convenience allows early detection of nasopharyngeal cancer so that it can reduce morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multi-system autoimmune disease that attacks various organs. Antimalarial agents are part of an immunomodulatory regimen that is used to cure patients with SLE. Not all antimalarial agents can be used in the treatment of lupus; This review lends to the study of the use of chloroquine. Overall, antimalarial drugs have many beneficial effects in patients with SLE, and have a good safety profile. According to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) the diagnosis of SLE was originally established to be found at least 2 or more than 11 criteria. The classification degrees are divided into mild, moderate and severe SLE. The recommended use of base chloroquine 3.5-4.0 mg / kg BW / day (150-300 mg / day) is only used in mild SLE.

Abstract

According to World Health Organization data, the musculoskeletal incidence is estimated to reach 60% of all occupational diseases. Steps that can be taken to overcome musculoskeletal complaints include stretching exercises that can flex or relax, increase elasticity, and gain comfort in the muscles. This study used the quasi-experimental method with a pre and post-test control group design approach. This study used 50 samples divided into two groups, namely 25 respondents for the control group who were not given stretching exercises and 25 respondents for the treatment group who were given stretching exercises for 14 working days. In each group, a musculoskeletal complaint was assessed before and after treatment. Data were tested by the Chi-Square test to determine the differences in each group and the effect of stretching exercises on musculoskeletal complaints. The initial assessment of musculoskeletal complaints before stretching exercises in the treatment group was found to be mostly with moderate complaints, and in the control group, the majority were with moderate complaints. Data analysis with statistical tests showed that there were differences in musculoskeletal complaints in the treatment group with a value of p = 0.030. There is the influence of stretching exercises on complaints of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) in the administrative staff of BPOM Lampung.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can attack various organs, especially the lungs. TB treatment can be given in 2 stages, the intensive phase 2 months of treatment and the next stage 4-6 months later. Non-adherence of TB patients to treatment at a health care facility regularly becomes an obstacle in achieving recovery and may increase the risk of morbidity, mortality, and drug resistance in both TB patients and the wider community. WHO applies the Direct Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) strategy in the management of TB patients to ensure that patients swallow the drug under direct supervision by a Drug Supervisor (PMO). In this case the family can act as a PMO and provide support to TB patients so that it can be an important factor in tuberculosis treatment adherence. Several studies have found a relationship of family social support and medication adherence. The family needs to provide positive support to involve the family as a supporter of treatment so that there is cooperation in monitoring the treatment between the officers and family members who are sick.

Abstract

Pleural effusion is a common problem. Pleural effusion developed as a sequel to the underlying disease process, including pressure/volume imbalance, infection, and malignancy. In addition to pleural effusion, persistent air leak after surgery and bronchopleural fistula remain a challenge by a physician. An understanding of the pleural disease, including its diagnosis and management, has made an extraordinary step. The introduction of molecular detection of organism-specific infections, risk stratification, and improvement in the non-surgical treatment of patients with pleural infection are all within reach and maybe the standard of care shortly. This article discusses the role of existing techniques, and some of the more recent ones, which are now available for establishing the diagnosis of pleural disease. The initial approach to diagnosis usually begins by distinguishing between transudates and exudates, based on the concentration of protein and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in pleural fluid. The exact role of amylase and LDH can provide additional information towards the differential diagnosis of various exudative pleural effusions. With newer cytochemical staining techniques in pleural fluid, diagnostic results of malignant pleural effusion can increase by up to 80%. Ultrasound (US) and thoracic computed tomographic (CT) scans have further improved the diagnosis of undiagnosed pleural effusion. The reappearance of thoracoscopy as the latest diagnostic and therapeutic tool (e.g., Pleurodesis) for undiagnosed or recurrent pleural effusions. Management of malignant pleural effusion continues to develop with the introduction of tunneled pleural catheters and chemical pleurodesis procedures. Advances in the diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation of pleural disease and what appears to be an increasing multidisciplinary interest in a doctor managing patients with pleural disease.
