Abstract

Herb plant is a famous plant and has been used since ancient times as tradisional medicine. Turmeric or curcuma is derived from the plant Curcuma longa L (Zingiberaceae). Curcumin is one of healthfull components of tumeric. Inflammation is an adaptive physiological response induced by infection and tissueinjuriesandhas complex product series by the immune system. Usually synthetic drugs are the first line of defense againt acute and chronic inflammation but has side effects which disturb gastrointestinal and cardiovascular organs. Some of reasearch has demonstrated the mechanism curcumin as an anti-inflammatory agent. Research shows curcumin is a highly pleiotropic molecule capable of interacting with numerous molecular targets involved in inflammation. Curcumin modulates the inflammatory response by down-regulating the activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), lipoxygenase, and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) enzymes, inhibits the production of the inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-a), interleukin (IL) -1, -2, -6, -8, and -12, migration inhibitory protein, down-regulates mitogen-activated, and monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP). However, curcumin has poor bioavailability. several strategies have been explored to improve curcumin’s bioavailability, with modulation of the delivery system.

Abstract

Hirschprung's Disease (HD) is an aganglionic disease segment of the parasympathetic nerves of Meissner and Auerbach. HD occurs in 1 in 5000 live births. Symptoms include late meconium, green vomiting, and abdominal distension. There are two types of HD short segments and long segments. This transitional zone is usually found in the rectosigmoid region or sigmoid colon, colon descendants, rectum, other colon and can occur in the small intestine. A medium according to type, 75 percent type of long segment, and 15% type of short segment. In the diagnosis, radiological imaging of the barium enema is needed with the position of Anteroposterior-Supine, Semi-Erect, Left Lateral Decubitus. There are seven typical images found (1) Transitional zones, (2) aganglionic segments, (3) Thickening of the mucosal portion of the proximal zone of the zone, (4) Slowing down of barium evacuation, (5) Comparison of rectosigmoid caliber less than 1, (6) Spasms aganglionic area, (7) Image of cobblestone mucosa. Immunohistochemical examination by suction biopsy through taking three places, namely two, three, and five centimeters (cm) from the anal verge.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic diseases with a prevalence of cases that continues to increase both globally and nationally. It is necessary to prevent diabetes mellitus behavior in individuals at risk based on the health belief model theory. This study aims to determine the description of individual perceptions in families who have a profile of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with cross sectional design with 120 respondents. Data was taken using demographic data and DHBM (The Diabetes Health Belief Measure) questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of respondents had negative perceptions about diabetes mellitus, which was 66.67%. This shows that more efforts need to be made by health workers to improve the perception of these individuals, by often providing information to the public about the behavior of preventing a disease in order to maximize health prevention efforts.

Abstract

Hypersensitive pneumonitis (HP), also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is a complex pulmonary syndrome mediated by the immune system and caused by inhalation of various antigens that have previously been sensitized by the individual. The pathobiology of this disease is not fully understood, but in addition to the triggers that initiate the disease, genetic factors tend to be necessary, because only a small proportion of people are exposed to HP. Because of the lack of standard diagnostic standards, the diagnosis of HP is not directly established and depends on several factors, including the history of exposure, antibodies present in specific antigens, clinical features, bronchoalveolar lavage (LAB), and radiological and pathological features. However, in proper management, high suspicion is significant and can negate the need for more invasive tests. Clinical manifestations and allergic history vary greatly. Corticosteroids may be useful in acute episodes to relieve symptoms or chronic progressive disease, but their long-term effects have never been validated in prospective clinical trials. We conduct a systematic review of published journals about HP. The search uses the Pubmed database using the medical term (MeSH) until January 2020. A total of 13 journals and one textbook were identified.

Abstract

Dysphagia can occur in geriatric patients and is found in post-stroke patients. Dysphagia is a swallowing disorder that can cause dehydration and disruption of daily activities. PSD is thought to be due to damage to the cortex and subcortical structures. After hospitalization, patients are expected to perform daily activities independently. The rehabilitative therapy that can be performed for post-stroke dysphagia patients is the Mendelsohn maneuver. The patient is asked to swallow food as usual, and when the food reaches the laryng, hold it up for 2-3 seconds with the throat muscles before finishing swallowing. Several studies have shown that there is an increased function in swallowing and a reduction in the incidence of aspiration.
