Abstract

Avian Influenza disease is caused by an avian influenza virus infection that became one of the biggest causes of death in the world. The subtype of the virus present in Indonesia is the H5N1 virus. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2012, the outbreak of the H5N1 subtype avian influenza virus was first reported in 1996, Guangdong Province, South China, and spread to Indonesia since 2003. The number of death from avian influenza outbreak (H5N1) in Indonesia was recorded to be the highest in the world, with the number of death was 151 of 183 people who positively infected with the virus. The H5N1 virus can enter and infect humans when the body’s immune system of the person is low. Panax ginseng belongs to the Araliaceae family, which contains several components, such as ginsenosides, polyacetylenes, polyphenols, and polysaccharides. The Polysaccharides in Panax ginseng have an immunomodulatory function that can increase cytokine production and activate macrophages as an effort to improve and increase the body’s immune system. Therefore, polysaccharides in Panax ginseng affect avian influenza vaccination because it enhances the body’s immune response.

Abstract

Hypersensitive pneumonitis (HP), also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is a complex pulmonary syndrome mediated by the immune system and caused by inhalation of various antigens that have previously been sensitized by the individual. The pathobiology of this disease is not fully understood, but in addition to the triggers that initiate the disease, genetic factors tend to be necessary, because only a small proportion of people are exposed to HP. Because of the lack of standard diagnostic standards, the diagnosis of HP is not directly established and depends on several factors, including the history of exposure, antibodies present in specific antigens, clinical features, bronchoalveolar lavage (LAB), and radiological and pathological features. However, in proper management, high suspicion is significant and can negate the need for more invasive tests. Clinical manifestations and allergic history vary greatly. Corticosteroids may be useful in acute episodes to relieve symptoms or chronic progressive disease, but their long-term effects have never been validated in prospective clinical trials. We conduct a systematic review of published journals about HP. The search uses the Pubmed database using the medical term (MeSH) until January 2020. A total of 13 journals and one textbook were identified.

Abstract

Gagal ginjal ditandai dengan meningkatnya kadar ureum dan kreatinin dalam darah. Kerusakan ginjal dapat diakibatkan oleh berbagai macam penyebab seperti infeksi, kehamilan, trauma maupun akibat efek samping obat. Gagal ginjal imbas obat merupakan salah satu penyebab tersering dari terjadinya kerusakan ginjal. Buah adas dipercaya memilki kandungan antioksidan flavonoid yang berfungsi sebagai nefroprotektor yang melindungi dari kerusakan ginjal akibat radikal bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol buah adas terhadap kadar ureum dan kreatinin pada tikus putih yang diinduksi parasetamol. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan metode penelitian post-test only control group design menggunakkan 30 tikus putih galur yang dibagi dalam 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok K1 diberikan pakan standar, kelompok K2 yang diinduksi parasetamol dosis 750mg/kgBB selama 3 dari 10 hari. Pada kelompok perlakuan, tikus diinduksi parasetamol 750mg/kgBB dan diberi ekstrak etanol buah adas setiap hari dalam 10 hari dengan dosis 100mg/kgBB (P1), 200mg/kgBB (P2) dan 400mg/kgBB (P3). Pada analisis one way ANOVA terhadap kadar urea dan kreatinin didapatkan p < 0,05, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna pada kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan. Terdapat adanya pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol buah adas terhadap kadar ureum dan kreatinin tikus putih jantan yang diinduksi parasetamol.

Abstract

Nicotine dependence is a chronic relapse defined as a compulsive desire to use it, regardless of social consequences, loss of control over intake, and appearance of withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine dependence develops over time as a person continues to use nicotine. The most commonly used tobacco product is cigarettes, but any form of tobacco use and use of e-cigarettes can lead to dependence. Nicotine dependence is a serious public health problem because it causes continued tobacco use, which is one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide, causing more than 8 million deaths per year. The result of the journal review is that preventing the use of tobacco products among adolescents is critical to ending nicotine addiction worldwide. The impact caused by nicotine tends to be bad, so stopping is the way out. Different levels of influence should be considered in interventions aimed at adolescent smokers, including psychological influences, addictions, peers and parents. This review article contains about the effect of nicotine on adolescents and what strategies can be done to stop the problem.

Abstract

E-cigarettes are easy to obtain and feel safer than conventional cigarettes, making smokers begin to change their habits in using conventional cigarettes. This trend has made e-cigarettes increasingly popular. Toxic contained in e-cigarettes causes an oxidative stress process that triggers an inflammatory response and causes respiratory problems. Green tea extract is believed to be an antioxidant to suppress the oxidative stress process. The study used a pure experimental design using 30 white rats of the Sprague Dawley strain. There was a change in histopathological damage in all samples where there was a significant difference in the control group, but not significant in the value of the vape control (K2) with treatment group 1 (50 mg/kgBW) p=0.163. E-cigarette consumption leads to an increase in circulating markers of oxidative stress. E-cigarette vapor induces an increase in cellular reactive oxygen species which in turn increases circulating inflammatory markers. Green tea polyphenols seek reactive oxygen species (ROS) by generating more stable phenolic radicals. The protective effect is attributed to the antioxidant capacity thereby reducing lung tissue damage. The conclusion is that there is an effect of giving green tea extract at a dose of 50 mg/kgBW but there is an effect of giving green tea extract at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW and 200 mg/kgBW on changes in the histopathological picture of the lungs of white rats (Ratus novergicus) Sprague dawley strain exposed to steam. electronic cigarette.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease in humans which is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito as a vector which causes many cases of death. In Indonesia, the number of cases of dengue fever deaths will be 705 cases in 2021. Alternative natural insecticides are needed to avoid potential resistance to chemical insecticides. Rhizophora apiculata stem bark contains active compounds, namely saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins which are larvicidal. The purpose of this study was to determine the larvicidal effectiveness of Rhizophora apiculata stem bark extract. This study used a laboratory experimental research design with a post test only control group design pattern. Divided into 6 groups, namely negative control, 0.045%, 0.09%, 0.18%, 0.36%, and positive control. Each group contained 25 larvae in 20 ml of Rhizophora apiculata stem bark extract solution with 4 repetitions. The data analysis used was univariate data analysis to find which concentration caused the highest death of Aedes aegypti larvae. From the research results, it was found that the average mortality of larvae from 4 repetitions at concentrations of 0.045%, 0.09%, 0.18%, and 0.36% were 68%, 97%, 99%, and 100% respectively.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide. One of the factors that are believed to have a role in the development and growth of breast cancer is nutritional status which can be associated with the body mass index of adult patients. It is estimated that overweight and obesity are risk factors for the spread of breast cancer to distant metastases. Mechanism of spread through two ways, estrogen and leptin. Aromatase is an enzyme in estrogen biosynthesis that promotes tumor growth through its expression in breast adipose stromal cells. Meanwhile, leptin is produced by adipocytes. Adipocytes that experience hypertrophy and hyperplasia cause pathophysiological changes that affect the development of breast cancer. Various case studies show that a diet high in fat and calories is associated with breast cancer. The high risk of obesity for breast cancer metastases. This is important to be studied further because of the large number of cases of breast cancer both globally, in Indonesia and in Lampung. This review article is important to know the relationship between obesity and breast cancer metastases, as scientific information and knowledge, and can be used as material for dietary intervention in obese breast cancer patients.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan limbah kulit buah kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) menjadi produk suplemen kesehatan antioksidan berupa sediaan kapsul. Kegiatan peng­abdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk mengenalkan bahwa limbah KBK yang dibuang oleh petani berupa cangkang menjadi limbah perkebunan yang tidak termanfaatkan dan menjadi sumber pen­cemaran. Senyawa fenolik sebagai antioksidan dari limbah KBK berkhasiat meng­hambat aktivitas radikal bebas pada tubuh manusia. Kandungan 6 – 9% protein kasar dari KBK telah dimanfaatkan dengan baik sebagai produk suplemen herbal anti­oksidan. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2022 yang merupakan bagian program pengabdian masyarakat unggulan Universitas Lampung. Pemanfaatan KBK sebagai produk kapsul suplemen herbal antioksidan, menciptakan kondisi lahan perkebunan kakao menjadi bersih, terhindar dari penyakit seperti busuk buah serta mengendalikan serangan hama. Pelak­sanaan PKM bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas kesejahteraan dan kapasitas masyarakat kelompok tani kakao Pekondoh. Melalui dukungan peman­faatan serta pemberdayaan potensi sumber daya pekon (desa) dengan cara penyuluhan pembuatan produk sediaan kapsul suplemen anti­oksidan dari limbah KBK. Hasil pelaksanaan PKM telah diterapkan dengan baik dengan meman­faatkan limbah KBK menjadi produk olahan sediaan kapsul WAKLATDO®. Pengetahuan serta pemahaman masarakat sebelum dan setelah terlibat dalam kegiatan pengabdian berbeda cukup signifikan. Pemanfatan KBK sebelum pendampingan (pre-test) adalah 27.33% dan setelah (post-test) adalah 80,12%. Hasil dapat dikatakan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan cukup membawa dampak baik akan penge­tahuan dalam pemanfaatn KBK.

Abstract

Anisometropia merupakan gangguan penglihatan yang ditandai dengan perbedaan refraksi lensa sferis atau silinder antara mata kanan dan kiri lebih dari 1 dioptri. Prevalensi anisometropia pada populasi sebesar 2-4% dan kondisi ini lebih sering menjadi penyebab gangguan penglihatan unilateral pada orang dewasa di bawah 60 tahun. Berdasarkan penyebabnya, anisometropia dibagi menjadi dua yaitu anisometropia aksial dan anisometropia refraktif sedangkan berdasarkan kekuatan refraksi anisometropia dibagi menjadi dua yaitu anisometropia absolut dan anisometropia relatif. Deteksi dini anisometropia memberikan dokter kesempatan untuk mengintervensi lebih awal, mungkin memperlambat, bahkan mencegah perkembangan penyakit. Retinoskopi sikloplegik terbukti sebagai metode yang paling tepat dan akurat untuk penentuan kesalahan refraksi selama pemeriksaan mata secara komprehensif. Malnutrisi, pemakaian media komunikasi elektronik seperti telepon genggan dan televisi, sampai kelalaian orang tua memerhatikan anaknya merupakan beberapa faktor risiko kelainan refraksi. Hampir seluruh anisometropia dapat menyebabkan kelainan ambliopia. Perawatan konvensional dengan kacamata, lensa penambalan, atau atropin 1% efektif pemakaiannya pada mata dalam mencegah memburuknya kasus ambliopia anisometropik. Artikel ini menggunakan metode literature review dari berbagai rujukan jurnal nasional dan internasional dengan kata kunci pencarian berikut: anisometropia, etiologi, klasifikasi, dan komplikasi.

Abstract

Labyrinthitis (Internal otitis) is an inflammation process of the ear labyrinth located in the inner part of the ear. Labyrinthitis has distinctive symptoms that combine from hearing ability and balance disturbance that cause  sensorineural type deafness and vertigo. This paper uses the literature review method as a  chosen method that chooses from bibliographic that last 15 years ago to discuss comprehensively about labyrinthitis. Labyrinthitis  is a condition that generally happens in elder age because the disturbance of the vestibulocochlear system  that has similarity with other health problem such as Ménière disease, patient history and advance examination comprehensively needed to rule out labyrinthitis with another health related to balance and hearing  problem. Labyrinthitis prognosis is bonam if treatment occurs as soon as possible and there is no expansion found into another region adjacent to the ear structure that potentially cause severe complication. Despite of severe complication is rare in post-antibiotic era, complication  could still happen in few patient and become life threatening problem because of it’s site adjacent with brain anatomy structure, therefore treatment could  be given to the patient with this condition. Further research need to discuss about another therapy option that available to treat the Labyrinthitis from every classification such as viral, bacteria, autoimmune, immunodeficiency, ossificant, and even the recent one associated with COVID-19 pandemic.
