Abstract

This study aims to determine the Teacher's Perspective on Contextual Teachingand learning English Approach. This research is a qualitative research, collect the data using the triangulation method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Analyzing data by making observation sheets of teacher learning activities, to better complement the data from Researcher observations using interviews with the number of questions 5 items. The results of the research from the teacher's perspective on the CTL approach are that the teacher understands the basic concepts and meaning of the CTL approach, by looking atthe results of observations and interviews of researchers, the first teacher and the second teacher make a learning approach according to the CTL learning approach method.

Abstract

Thisresearch aimed to describe students’ level of media literacy of SMAN 1 LoreSelatan. This type of research uses a quantitative survey method and the subjects of this research are 40 students of class XI SMAN 1 Lore Selatan. The data are collected by distributing questionnaire to students about the level of media literacy. The questionnaire used in this research is a questionnaire adopted from Kertanegara et al (2020) and Potter (2011) on media literacy. The results of this research indicate that the SMAN 1 Lore Selatan students have a medium level of media literacy, which means the students in this level can use the media to for their learning needs, understand information better, use certain strategies to meet their learning needs, and are more thorough in differentiating factual andhoax information.

Abstract

English vocabulary is one of the basic types of knowledge that must be masteredby EFL in learning English. With the rapid changing and development of globalization, vocabulary learning nowadays can be done through various media, one of them is through online games. Online games are the games that are very popular among students todays due to this kind of circumstances and one of these online games is Mobile Legends. The purpose of this study is to find out the impacts of an online game which is Mobile Legends in English Vocabulary learning in SMA GKST 2 Tentena. In this study, the subjects are the 12 students from 4 classes. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative and usesinstruments in the form of questionnaires, tests, and interviews. Based on the data obtained, this study found that online game which is Mobile Legends have an impact in students to achieve good results in learning English vocabulary.

Abstract

Kim Namjoon is the only representative of the Korean idol chosen by UNICEF to deliver a speech at the general assembly. BTS is of considerable concern to today's youth since its songs are evaluated as encouraging and helpful in the face of struggle. Thespeech entitled "Speak Yourself" is a persuasive speech that aligns with the aims of UNICEF's "Young Generation" mission in 2030. The purpose of this study is to identify the kinds of illocutionary acts used by Kim Namjoon and to know the actual functions of illocutionary force found in speech. A descriptive qualitative method is employed in this study to collect data and identify the illocutionary act by Searle and the context of thesituation by Halliday. The findings show 29 utterances containing illocutionary acts, which is representative 12 utterances, directive 7 utterances, expressive 8 utterances, and commissive 3 utterances. The actual functions of the utterances found by context situation analysis are representative: explaining, informing, reporting, claiming, and describing, expressive: thanking, expressing gratitude, expressions of happiness, expressing concern, despairing, and expressing sadness, directive: commanding, inviting, ordering, asking and requesting, commissive: promising.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the effect of a short animation movie in learning English to find out students’ achievement in writing at tenth TKJ grade in SMK GKST Poso. The Method of this research is a pre-experimental research, one group pretestposttest, which has done in 5 meetings. In first meeting the researcher give a pre-test to know students’ initial achievement in writing narrative text, entilted, “Malin Kundang”. In second until fourth meetings the researcher give a treatment in implementing the shortanimation movie learning media and give a post-test in the fifth meeting to find out student’ final achievement after giving a treatment. The result of this research shows that there is a significance effect towards students’ achievement in writing narrative text using a short animation movie as a learning media. It can be seen from, paired sample t-test, the sig. (2tailed)is 0,000. It means that,the sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05. The result of the research shows, a significant effect with the sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05. The result of testing the hypothesis shows that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect in using a short animation movie towards students achievement in writing narrative text.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out the writing strategies used by thestudents in English language EducationStudy Program of Sintuwu Maroso. The type of this research is quantitative research using survey method. The instrument of data collection was questionnaire and interview. The data is analyzed bydetermining from the average of scores students choose in each item of statements which is ranging from 1-5, which are: (1).Highly used (Mean score=M) between 3.5 to 5.0 indicates that all four of strategies are the most frequently used by the participants. (2).Medium used (M) between 2.5 to 3.4indicates that all four of strategies are normally used by the participants.(3).Low used (M) smaller than 2.4 indicates all four of strategies are rarely used by the participant. The finding of research obtained that the strategies in writing highly used by students of English Language Study Program in Sintuwu Maroso University are Metacognitive strategy, Cognitive strategy, Affective strategy and Social strategy/ all of strategy is frequesntly used by the students in writing English Text.
