Abstract

Dryland in Indonesia has been dominated by acid soils, so that availability of phosphate (P) becomes the main obstacle in improving outcomes and only 10-30% of fertilizer P can be utilized by plants. One of the solution to meet the needs of phosphate is by utilization of mycorrhizal biofertilizer. These experiments were divided into several phases: 1) Looking for phases of mycorrhizal, 2) the laboratory analysis, 3) Testing phase on plants that were carried out by using polybags with sterile soil. The experiment was designed with a complete randomized block design (RAKL) by using a factor that consists of 6 treatments that are: 1) Without mycorrhizal inoculum (M0), 2) Mycorrhizal inoculum 5 g + 50 Spores (M5), 3) Mycorrhizal inoculum 10 g + 50 spores (M10), 4) Mycorrhizal inoculum 15 g + 50 spores (M15), 5) Mycorrhizal inoculum 20 g + 50 spores (M20), 6) Commercial mycorrhizal 10 g (Mk). All treatments were repeated four times so that the total 24 pot experiment. The experiment results show that mycorrhizal treatment given on the corn crop has very significant (P <0.01) to the number of leaf age of 35, 49, 63 days after, leaf wide have age 49 days after plant, fresh weight, oven-dry weight, absorb P, number of spores, mycorrhizal infection and significant effect (P <0.05) to plant height age of 35, 49, 63 day after plant, 63 days after plant, leaf wide, and P-available. Based on the results of this study will be suggested, in order to enhance the growth of corn plants can be used locally mikroiza a dose of 10 g + 50 spores.

Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of the concentration of shallot extract as well as the optimum concentration of shallots extracts on the growth of pepper plant. The method used in this study was Randomized Block Design with the treatment used is Eo (without concentration), El (the concentration of 100 ppm), E2 (concentration of 200 ppm), E3 (concentration of 300 ppm), E4 (concentration of 400 ppm). Observationvariablesin this study is the height of plant (cm), length of root (cm), the total number of roots, number of shoots, the weight of fresh residues tan-1, dry oven weight of residues. The results showed that no interaction between shallots extracts (Allium cepa L.) and the growth of pepper plant (Piper nigrum L.) which effect on the optimal growth of pepper plant.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the effect and optimum rates of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of Eggplant. The research used Randomized Block Designconsisted of 5 rates of liquid organic fertilizer;(M0 = control/without fertilizers, M1 = 1 liters ha-1, M2 = 1 ha-2 litres, M3 = 3 liters ha-1, M4 = 4 liters ha-1). The observed variable is the height of plants, number and leaf area, length of fruit, fruit diameter, number of fruit, the weight of fruit per plant, weight of fruit per hectare, fresh residues per plant, and fresh residues per hectare and harvest index. The result of experiment showed the rates of liquid organic fertilizer effect on percentage of the growth and yield of eggplant; they are; height of plants(6,22%), leaf number (28,20%), leaf area (29,58%), length of eggplant (43,11%), eggplant diameter (9,00%), number of eggplant (22,03%), weight of eggplant per plant (25,62%), weight of eggplant per hectare (16,70%), fresh residues per plant (28,58%), residues per hectare (34,93%), and harvest index (53,91%). Optimum rates of liquid organic fertilizer which effect on the growth and yield of eggplant are about 4 litre ha-1.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Tarus Village, Kupang regency, in May until June 2013, to find out the amount of phosphorus and cadmium content in the soil of rice, and to compare the Cd with a threshold concentration of Standard National Indonesia 7387:2009, as well as to predict the magnitude of the risk to the health. This research is descriptive experimental design with 12 samples of soil and rice. Levels of soil–available P is analyzed using the methods of Olsen, whereas, the levels of Cd from the soil and rice are analyzed in the laboratory with the method of analysis of heavy metals in soils and plants, set by Hall of geochemical soil, the Ministry of agriculture. The results of the analysis of land-available Pranging from low – high, but it is not the only deciding factor the amount of Cd in soil and rice. Laboratory analysis results towards rice Cd, shows there are six samples that undetectable levels of Cd, six other samples detected and then described the risk once compared with the standard quality raw and analysis of health risks. The results of the analysis of the levels of Cd shows all rice samples were still below standard quality raw i.e. 0,4 mg kg-1. Risk analysis indicates that there are two samples of rice produced from the paddy fields are not safe for consumption for the duration of 30 years. While the four other samples were a risk for the duration of the 60 years.

Abstract

This study aims at determining the impact of planting distance on the growth and yield of Pak Choy and determining the optimal distance that can optimize the growth and yield of Pak Choi. This study employed group random design with 6 treatments of planting distance, namelyJ1 = 20 cm x 25 cm, J2 = 20 cm x 20 cm, J3 = Planting distance 20 cm x 15 cm, J4 = Planting distance 20 cm x 10 cm, J5 = 10 cm x 15 cm, J6 = 10 cm x 10 cm.Each treatment was repeated 4 times so that there were 24 specimen garden-beds. It is found out that planting distance did not have any impact on plant height, the width of leaves, and numbers of leaves at age of 10–20 days after planting, whereas there was an impact on plant age of 25–35 days after planting on plant height of 15.59 cm, a number of leaves of 9.17 cm, the width of leaves of 52.28 cm and fresh Pak Choy weight of 148.4g per plant, fresh weight per ha 1204.43 ha.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the Seed Technology laboratory and Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Nusa Cendana, Kupang, which lasts from September to December 2013 with aims to investigate the influence of substitution of wheat flour with flour suweg the physicochemical properties and organoleptic cake. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely substitution suweg flour to wheat flour: 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. The parameters analyzed were proximate, softness, porosity, degree of development, test organoleptic colour, flavour, aroma, and texture. Organoleptic data obtained from the 20 panellists and subsequently analyzed by Friedman test, while ANOVA test if there is a real effect then tested further by using DMRT. The results showed that the substitution of different flour suweg provides a very significant effect on water content, fat, ash content, protein, carbohydrate esandtenderness cake. Based on the results of the organoleptic test, cake with flour substitution suweg the colour, aroma and taste of a real significant show, panellists liked the cake substitution suweg 40%, while the texture, the panellists still like to substitution of 40% flour suweg, an assessment of the texture with the highest scores on substitution treatment 10% flour suweg. Organoleptic test and Friedman test results it can be concluded that the cake treatment received a positive response from the panellists was a cake with 40% flour suweg treatment with a total of 66 rankings for colour, aroma as a total ranking of 68, and for a sense of the total ranking of 74. Similarly, some a score on the cake substitution acceptance panellists ranged from 3,1 to 3,4 and the obtained cake was elected with 40% substitution treatment suweg flour.
