Abstract

Commuter Train is one of the facilities that must be managed properly, economically and efficiently by the principles of Facility Asset Management. The availability of infrastructure and vehicles for this facility is adjusted based on passenger demand. This requires sufficient knowledge on the travel behavior characteristics, i.e., different characteristics composition proportion. Travel behavior survey requires the appropriate formula or method to calculate the minimum sample size, for this case are proportions of pq, pqr, pqrs etc. Therefore, a search for Minimum Sample Size Calculation Method for the Travel Behaviour Survey is needed. A literature study was employed for this search. This is important because the calculation method for the minimum sample size for proportions pq exists, but for the proportion of pqr, pqrs, etc do not yet exist. The results of the study indicates that the SR Method is the most appropriate method for calculating the minimum number of samples for the case of the proportion of pqr, pqrs, pqrst, etc. The SR Method is developed based on Goodnees of Fit method combined with the Maximum Acceptable Error principle. The combination of the two is named the MAECCL (Maximum Acceptable Error on a Certain Confidence Level) principle.

Abstract

The National Road Construction Agency (BPJN) in East Nusa Tenggara Province through the Satuan Kerja IV (Satker) has repaired some landslide points in the Ende – Wolowaru and Junction – Kelimutu Road Preservation working package. One of the landslide points that need treatment is at STA. 10+475. Based on survey and planning results from the Satker P2JN BPJN NTT, the most dominant factors that trigger landslides are geological conditions and high rainfall. Data from soil investigations at the landslide location at STA 10+475 after the landslide occurred showed that the soil was dominated by sandy clay. However, in their planning report, rainfall data was not found, therefore, it is needed to see whether there is an influence of rainwater infiltration at the location for causing landslides. This research aims to determine the causes of landslides including whether there is an influence of rainwater infiltration at the research location and the simulation results with the SLOPE/W and SEEP/W porgrams are proven to be correct. After simulating with the SEEP/W program, the slope safety factor which was 1.586 before the landslide occurred dropped to 0.883.

Abstract

Road damage on The National Road Trengguli -Bts. Kab. Demak/Kudus in the form of cracks and collapses, the contributing factors are soft subgrade conditions and irrigations on both sides of the road. Chemical stabilization with Ca(OH)2lime can improve the soil's mechanical and physical characteristics. This research uses the addition of lime with variations of 2%, 4%, 6%, 7%, 8%, and and 10% of the soil's dry weight. Based on the standard proctor test results, the optimum mixture of 6% lime was obtained with a value of γdmax = 1.459 gr/cm3and Wopt= 28.052%. Furthermore, the original soil and 6% lime mixture were tested: sieve and hydrometer analysis, Atterberg limits, standard proctor compaction, unconfined compressive strength (UCS), laboratory CBR (soaked) and 1 cycle drying -wetting testing. At 6% lime for UCS and CBR testing, 0, 7 and 14 days of curing were conducted. The results of research on the initial soil and after 6% lime stabilization, namely the soil classification based on USCS originally included in CH, namely non-organic loamy soilwith high plasticity or fat clays to SM, namely silty sand and based on AASHTO originally included in A-7-6 clay soil to A-7-5 clay soil, from PI = 43.232% to PI = 16.213%, from CBR = 0.917% to CBR with 0, 7, and 14 days of curing are 11.463%, 14.266%, and 19.408%, from qu = 0.967 kg/cm2to qu with 0, 7, and 14 days of curing are 2.973 kg/cm2, 9.546 kg/cm2and 12.206 kg/cm2. After 1 cycle drying -wetting test, there is a decrease in qu value, namely in the initial soil of 93.004% and 6% lime stabilized soil of 73.040%.

Abstract

One of the road damages caused by problematic soil is found on the Calang - Simpang Peut Road Section. Soil testing data shows that soft soil exists at a depth of zero meters, up to five meters. The damage is being repaired using a Modified Cakar Ayam (CAM) system. The CAM system is built on a road embankment. Using the CAM on the top of the road embankment has a settlement problem that will cause non-uniform settlement. This study reviews three alternatives that have been proven effective and efficient in fixing road embankment failures on problematic soils. These alternatives are geosynthetic reinforcement, geosynthetic reinforcement with prefabricated vertical drain (PVD), and encapsulated stone columns. This research will analyze the three alternatives based on their efficiency and effectiveness in treating the damage. The results of the calculation analysis show that the geosynthetic-reinforced embankment is the most effective alternative design. The alternative can also reduce the execution time by 42% and cost by 43% compared to the CAM system. However, a subgrade improvement alternative with encapsulated stone columns increases the execution time by 20% and cost by 25% compared to the CAM system, and using a PVD alternative is not recommended to repair the road embankment on this road section.

Abstract

The National Road Section Demak - Kudus is one of the most populous road sections connecting East Java province with West Java province through the city of Semarang. Repeated damage conditions raise the suspicion that the subgrade under the road body has special criteria that need further handling before repairs are made to the pavement. In addition, based on the soft soil distribution map and soil data with the results of existing laboratory testing, categorized as soft soil. For this reason, it is necessary to handle the subgrade to improve soil parameters, which is physical and mechanical. Therefore, chemical stabilization was chosen to obtain a chemical reaction from the soil. The selected chemicals to induce these reactions is coal combustion waste which are fly ash and bottom ash. Exhibiting pozzolanic properties that can react and cause flocculation in the soil. The research involves mixing the soil with stabilizing materials in three different combinations: first, soil mixed by fly ash (FA); second, soil mixed by bottom ash (BA); and third, soil mixed by both fly ash with bottom ash (FABA), optimum stabilizing mixture material at 20%. The initial soil, which is highly plastic clay with a classification of CH/A-7-6, having a plasticity index (PI) of 43.23% and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of 0.92%, undergoes improvement with adding FA stabilizer, resulting in MH/A-7-5 with a PI of 27.07% and CBR of 12.39%. The mixture of soil with FABA is MH/A-7-5 with a PI of 28.87% and CBR of 9.60%. However, the improvement in the mixture of soil with BA is not as significant, remaining in the CH/A-7-6 category with a PI of 31.83% and CBR of 3.00%.

Abstract

The slopes of the Awunio - Lapuko national road section are prone to landslides, which pose a threat to the road asset management. Hard soil layer with an NSPT value >60 is found at a depth of 4 metres. The slope has been reinforced with cantilever walls (CW) and caisson as well as retaining walls and bored pile. In this research, the problem that needs to be studied is the stability of the existing slope with and without reinforcement using the cracked soils approach to obtain the factor of safety (FS) for critical conditions with the Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM). The CW is calculated for overturning stability, shear stability, foundation bearing capacity and overall stability. In addition, bored pile should also be evaluated when considered as a lateral pile based on NAVFAC, bearing capacity within the group, max & min stress and deflection capacity. The result of LEM program analysis shows the slope failure mechanism due to the existence of slip plane between weak soil layer and strong soil layer. Furthermore, the stability of existing reinforcement such as CW only or CW combined with caisson is insufficient. While the stability of reinforcement CW combined with bored pile or alternative modification such as subdrain combined with geotextile meets the requirements.
