Abstract

Bali is known as the islands of 1000 temples, Bali has a fascinating history about dogs. It is stated in the Mahaprasthanika Parva (Book of the Great Journey) on Mahabharata Story, after the end of the big war at Kurukshetra, Dharmawangsa (Yudistira) without any hesitation said that he would not go to heaven without his dog. He chose to suffer in the mortal world with his dog because the dog accompanied him throughout the journey. The journey of Yudhishthira to heaven accompanied by a dog, then inspires the Hindu Balinese people, in honor of the dog as a symbol of loyalty. No wonder, Balinese treat dog not as a pet but as a loyal friend. However, Animals Australia investigation team' member under pseudonym ‘Luke’ on his interview conducted by Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC), claimed to have done a veiled investigation to uncover the practice of dog meat trade for consumption on the island of Bali. The man conducted a four-month investigation on the island, armed with small video cameras and mobile phones; he managed to document the activities of dog trading; ranging from how to catch the dog to how the meat is traded. Regarding the case, Government of Bali mentioned there is no such thing has been done in Bali. However, on several occasion, the dog is indeed used as a part of the ceremony. In the same time, the government also investigated the disseminated issue. However, they found nothing.

Abstract

Starting to do exercise must be challenging, especially for someone who is not used to it. Therefore, combining physical activity and vacation is a perfect option for a beginner. Water sport may be a perfect choice to spend a holiday while train body back into its perfect condition. A getaway trip to Bali Is not only about staying in luxury hotels or villas, Wine and dine on a famous beachfront restaurant, or shopping in the heart of Seminyak shopping centers. The exotic island on the equator offers a wide selection of water recreation with dozen of benefits for those health seekers. This writing is a descriptive study. The findings from previous studies which discussing vacation and water-related exercise were compiled as data. Bali was served as tourism object where this study is undertaken. Then, the compiled data were used to describe the benefit of recreation in Bali as the tourism object and its water activity for health. The Island of Bali, known for its breathtaking landscape and as the best tourist destination, offers additional choices to tourists who wished to travel while getting extra benefits for their health. Some studies revealed there are numerous advantage someone may obtain by doing physical activity in the water, such as improvement in cardio, respiratory, and muscle strength. The activity also promotes full body workout to help overcome weight problem, both under and overweight while holiday in Bali helps the traveler to take a break from the tedious yet stressful environment.

Abstract

After waiting for 50 years, finally, Indonesia is going to host the 18th Asian Games 2018. In response to the mandate, the Indonesian government established INASGOC or Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee as the official committee, who is responsible for preparing all requirements for the event that lastly held in Indonesia in 1962. In welcoming the game, many projects are being conducted both in Jakarta as well as Palembang. Besides, a torch relay event is traveling throughout 54 cities and provinces in Indonesia, including Bali. It was launching from Yogyakarta on July 18, 2018, and it is scheduled to reach its finish point at Gelora Bung Karno on August 18, 2018. As a series of torch relay event visiting Bali, PPS Betako Merpati Putih, Branch Denpasar, one of the nation’s cultural assets, became one of sports training centers in Bali that had the opportunity to receive appreciation from PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk. Furthermore, all Indonesian citizen expect that Indonesian athletes can do their best in giving a contribution to the nation. Thus, Indonesia on the Asian games 2018 would be the host and house of the champion.

Abstract

Bali is well known as the best tourist destination in the world. Beautiful sceneries along with its distinctive culture become the main attraction of foreign tourists to visit it. During this time, foreign tourists visit Bali is dominated by tourists from Australia and China. While for visitors from the Middle East countries is still relatively small. Middle Eastern tourists are well known as a potential market since they spend a lot of budget for their vacation. On March 4th to 9th 2017, Saudi Arabia’s King, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz al Saud traveled to Indonesia with a group of 1500 people. They spend a lot of expenses while holiday in Bali in which gave a good impact on tourism industries in Bali. The King visit is expected to promote Indonesia Tourism especially Bali to his people. Providing information about a halal and friendly destination for tourists from Middle East countries is expected to attract more visitor from those countries. Since their religion is mostly Muslim. By providing detail information about halal tourism information thus it is expected the number of their visit to Indonesia, especially Bali will increase.

Abstract

Indonesian Criminal Code Bill proposal, suddenly became a hot issue after Indonesia commemorate their 74th Independence Day. The executive and legislative accelerated completion of Indonesian Criminal Code Bill (ICCB) at Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta. Many parties have been urging the government to revise some outdated articles since the penal code was a product of Dutch colonialism in the past. Three crucial topics were discussed and added to the draft regarding blasphemy to president, crimes against morality and decency, as well as specific intent crime. Apparently, some parties were unsatisfied with the draft. Waves of uproar sprang up between mid-September and early October 2019. the demonstrators considered that there are ten controversial articles in the ICCB that have vague enforcement parameters. To reduce the public tension, the government agreed to delay the ICCB ratification that, according to public includes multiple problematic articles. President Joko Widodo stated that more input would be conducted before disseminate the latest ICCB information to public. The postponement would be evoked after the new set of parliaments is inaugurated. Albeit being postponed, Tourism practitioner in Bali experiencing significant loss of tourists visit due to the issues. It is expected in future; the government would involve tourism practitioner in group discussion before setting new regulations that may affect the vital industry of Indonesia.

Abstract

Can Tho city is the central city of nine dragon river delta, Mekong river. International tourist may reach Can Tho city faster from Ho Chi Minh City International Airport. From the airport, the visitor may take a car or van. There are some unique places that worth to visit by the traveler. They are The Ong Pagoda and Ninh Kieu Quay. The Ong Pagoda is the oldest pagoda in Can Tho city while Ninh Kieu Quay, a port and cultural tourist destination of Can Tho city, was established in the 19th century. Settled in the delta of the Mekong river, makes the town becomes a place where traditional fuse in harmony with the growth of city hustle bustle. In the area, there are some beautiful landmarks with high historical value that worth to visit, as well as new gastronomy experiences in tasting Vietnamese-style cuisines.

Abstract

Balinese dance, mystically terrific yet stunningly captivating at the same time. Balinese divides the art of dance into three types namely The Wali (Sacred Dance), The Bebali, and The Balih Balihan (Performing Dance). Joged Bumbung, one of Balih balihan dance, acts as social dance as well as entertainment. However, Recent occasion took place in November 2017 sparked netizen’s critic about erotic joged performance video on Les Village, Singaraja. Culturalists feared it would ignite the reaction of many parties, for instance, the UNESCO. In addition, erotic joged violates ethics and is a form of cultural defamation thus it is essential to establish pararem to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Abstract

Topeng Sidakarya dance is a masked wali dance originated from the 16th century. A typical old art performance that utilises a mask to express the figure's character. It is believed the art was choreographed after a brief visit of Brahmana Keling, a sage from eastern Java to Bali at the time King Dalem Waturenggong was reigning Gelgel Kingdom. The tour of Brahmana keling to the grand ritual held in the 16th century by king Dalem Waturenggong gave birth to Topeng Sidakarya dance; An art to dedicate Brahmana Keling’s service for Gelgel kingdom. His service had led Bali to reach its prosperous time for an extended period. The dance is recognised by its unique mask characteristics: a white-based colour mask, squinting eyes, black or white moustache, smiling expression and exaggerated overbite teeth. Topeng Sidakarya dance served as a complement of religious rituals based on king Dalem Waturenggong’s decree for the future generation. It is compulsory to perform the sacred art as it carries a symbol that the ceremony has been well-acted, and the organiser would meet their expectation for the ritual.

Abstract

‘Pelangi’ (Persatuan Layang-Layang Bali) or Bali Kite Association, held a kite flying festival from early July until the end of October 2017. It aims to preserve culture, stimulate creativity and grow bond and togetherness among societies as well as become a tourist attraction. Government supports the festival as means of cultural preservation as well as a tourist attraction for domestic and foreign. However, as time goes by, the land to play kite is getting narrower due to development. Therefore, attention and participation by local government and society are needed to maintain the availability of land for the sake of the preservation of this cultural festival.

Abstract

Many legends, myths, and folktales discuss mountain and its central position for people. From base to top, the mountain summit holds the highest spiritual value, because the place is considered close to heaven. Balinese folk divided the land into three sectors: highland for the immortal beings, mainland for human, and in the dark depth trench, reside spirit of the abyss. Since the beach is the closest area to the underworld, the Balinese forefather avoided spending their time on the coastline. The teaching about the mystical mountain and mythical water have been passed throughout generations and probably become a chief reason for them to respectfully hold their tradition in respecting both the areas. This concept is called Nyegara Gunung. It stands on the truth that the mountain and the sea are part of mother nature that gives tremendous impact on life. Many customs around the globe also share the concept of the sacred mountain as well as a myth about the sea. The folk views environment conservation becomes the primary key to live in harmony. Therefore they stand for anything in regards to keep the nature undisturbed. Through ritual, they express their gratitude to the supreme being as well as to teach their offspring to respect what they have on the island.
