Abstract

The number of character problems experienced by Indonesia strengthens the urgency of planting and implementing character education. One of the necessary character plantings is the character of discipline. This study analyzes the impact of teaching student discipline characters through school rules. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques used in this research using observation, interviews, and documentation. Sources of data in this study came from the principal, 5th-grade teaching teachers, and students. The study results indicate that the cultivation of disciplinary character is carried out through school rules in the early stages, namely the preparation of planning and development of disciplinary characters. Facilities and infrastructure provided can also support the inculcation of students' disciplined characters. In addition, teachers and principals also always provide concrete examples of the behavior of disciplined characters. In teaching the character of discipline, of course, there are obstacles and obstacles. However, the principal and teachers communicate and work together with the students' parents to overcome the obstacles. This research implies that it can explain the impact of planting student discipline characters through school rules to contribute to student and school achievement.

Abstract

Optimism is an attitude or pattern of positive thinking towards a problem or problem with strong self-defense so that self-confidence grows. This optimistic mindset tends to be less owned by someone for several reasons: lack of human resources, which makes a person not confident in making a decision. This study describes the aspects and functions of the character's optimism in Andrea Hirata's Orang-Orang Biasa novel. The approach used in this analysis uses literature psychology theory, which focuses on the optimism aspect proposed by Goleman. The type of research used is qualitative research with the data source is the novel Orang-Ordinary by Andrea Hirata. The data collection method used a documentation study, namely by reading extensively and repeatedly to get the content by the desired study. The analysis technique is by reducing the data or selecting the data, presenting the data in quotations, and drawing conclusions as the final stage of the research. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the optimism aspect in Andrea Hirata's Orang-Orang Biasa novel is shown in various values, namely (1) having high expectations, (2) not being easily discouraged, (3) being able to motivate oneself, high self-confidence and ( 4) not being resigned while the function of optimism in the novel is (1) as a means of motivation to strengthen oneself, (2) as part of a form of self-defense to overcome life's problems and (3) optimism as a support system.

Abstract

Many children still do not understand moral behavior, such as the importance of saying thank you and being willing to forgive each other if they make mistakes. Thus, the moral development of children has not developed optimally. This study aims to produce Big Book media to improve children's moral behavior. The development model used in this research is the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model consists of analysis (analyze), design (design), development (development), implementation (implementation), and evaluation (evaluation). In this research, only up to the development stage. The validation of the Big Book media instrument was carried out by three experts, namely material experts and media experts. This study collected data using a questionnaire method to test the media and materials. This study obtained the Big Book media to improve the moral behavior of early childhood, which was declared valid based on expert tests with the CVR and CVI scores being 1.00. The form of the development of the big book media produced is a medium used to improve the moral behavior of early childhood. PAUD teachers can use this Big Book media to improve children's moral behavior.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning activities are carried out online. Although through online learning, it is hoped that teachers will still teach character education, considering the importance of character education for the younger generation. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of character education through online learning during the pandemic in elementary school. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The subject of the study was the fifth-grade elementary school teacher. The results show that the character education provided by the teacher through the Zoom application is that the teacher familiarizes students with praying and greeting before and after learning begins, the teacher familiarizes students with wearing neat and polite clothes. The teacher gives advice that can foster positive character for students. The teacher provides character education through the WhatsApp application. The teacher sends quotes with character values regularly, familiarizes students with using polite language when sending messages or assigning assignments in groups, and sends videos or video links about character education to students. Based on the study results, it can be concluded that fifth-grade teachers have implemented character education through online learning by utilizing internet-connected applications, namely Zoom and WhatsApp applications.

Abstract

The distance learning process carried out by teachers and students is a challenge, especially related to learning motivation and student learning discipline. This study analyzes strengthening learning to improve student learning discipline during the pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. The research procedure uses Miles and Huberman. Data collection techniques using observation and interviews. Data analysis was carried out using Atlas.ti software version 8. The results of this study indicate the importance of student response, strengthening parents' motivation, and student learning focus. Some of the research results related to three important focuses: strategies to improve learning, respond to improvements, and distance learning. Based on the study results, it can be seen that children in the distance learning process very much need parents during a pandemic like now. Parents must also be able to discipline their children during learning activities. To discipline children, parents encourage children to be more enthusiastic in learning. Reinforcement provided by parents is to strengthen verbally and some are in the form of nonverbal.
