Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented test for the healthcare system. They experience great pressure while treating patients infected with Covid-19, which will affect the quality of health services for patients. This study aims to assess the impact of nurses' fear of Covid-19 on work stress, intention to leave the organization and profession, and job satisfaction, moderated by supervisor support. The study was conducted with a cross-sectional approach and using a simple random sampling method in taking a sample of 222 nurses. Method of data analysis using multiple linear regression test. The results showed that the variable fear of Covid-19 affected work stress, intention to leave the organization and profession, and job satisfaction. The supervisor support variable as a moderator affected the relationship between the fear of Covid-19 variable with job stress and job satisfaction but did not affect the relationship between fear of Covid-19 and the intention to leave the organization and profession.

Abstract

A cursory reading of the novel Bidadari Bermata Bening will give the impression that this novel voices the idea of empowered women. However, it turns out that there is also a strong narrative of stereotypical women in the text. Based on the explanation, this study aims to reveal why there are two such contradictory narratives in one text. This study uses an analysis of the narrative elements of the text based on Gerard Genette's theory, assisted by the theory of the power of discourse from Michel Foucault. The text is explored intrinsically, through analysis of characterizations, narrator's voice, and character’s focalization. Then by using discourse analysis, the text is analyzed to find out which discourses play in it and build ideological ideas. Based on the results of the analysis, it appears that the narrative of empowered women emerges through an omniscient narrator and is assisted by voices (focalization) from subordinate characters. Meanwhile, the narrative of stereotypical women emerges from the subjectivity of the women main character. Behind the contradictions of the two narratives, it appears that the discourse of Islamic values actually dominates the construction of ideas, both narratives of empowered women and stereotypical women. The text legitimizes both narratives by using religious arguments, in this case Islam. This can be interpreted as a text effort in propagating the discourse of Islamic women.

Abstract

Every cultivar has characteristics that distinguish it from another cultivar. As opposed to within the cultivar it is required to be uniform and not indicate variations due to segregation. Knowledge of the characteristics of local rice and high-yielding cultivar will be more advantageous if it is supported by knowledge of the morphological changes of plant parts at each stage of growth. This study was conducted to determine the distinctness, uniformity, and stability of 10 potential upland rice genotypes and obtain information about growth stages based on phenology. The research was conducted based on an experimental study using a randomized block design with three replications. Observation of rice genotype characteristics was carried out based on the phenological measurement guide from the Biologische Bundesanstalt, bundessortenamt und CHemische Industrie (BBCH) for rice, and the DUS characterization guide from UPOV. The results showed that the growth stages of 10 rice genotypes consisted of 10 primary growth phases and there are variations in phenological phases in each genotype. Morphological characterization showed that 10 genotypes had a uniform and stable morphology and were grouped into 2 clusters. Cluster 1 consisting of G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G8, and G10. Cluster 2 consists of G6, G7, and G9. The phenology of rice and morphological differences indicate variations in the genetic potential that each genotype possesses. The timing of morphological and agronomic observations of rice can be determined using the information on plant phenology.

Abstract

Sago plants located in Tanjung Village and Tanjung Darul Tazim Village, Meranti Islands Regency are one of the centers for sago nurseries located in peatland areas that have the potential to cause land fires. Therefore, this study aims to determine the social capital of local communities in improving the economy through the use of sago plants and how to restore peatlands. Data collection methods used are question and answer, observation, and documentation. The targets of this question-and-answer activity are District Officials, Village Officials, Sago Farmers, Sago Business Actors, Local Community Leaders, and other related parties. The results of this study indicate that sago is proven to be able to improve the family's economy, especially for the local community. The income from sago provides income for the community, both from their plantations and from those who work for other parties. Benefits in the economic field turned out to support the formation of benefits in the social field, namely producing a surau. Also useful in the field of education, namely producing the Al-Manar Education Foundation and increasing their children's education to graduate degrees. Extensive plantations, supportive soil, and good maintenance are the factors that make the Meranti Islands one of the largest sago-producing areas. The way the community restores peatlands here, namely by building canals (tits) around sago plantations, has been praised by President Joko Widodo.

Abstract

This study aimed to dissect the image formed by Boris Johnson in his resignation speech as British Prime Minister. A qualitative descriptive method was used in this study with Critical Discourse Analysis by Norman Fairclough. Analysis at the micro level using transitivity suggested that Boris Johnson mostly used mental processes, especially in the process of desirability. The data found that there were 11 uses of modality such as 'should', 'will', and 'can'. This data mostly showed the probability that the former prime minister suggested when dealing with the future programs that would be conducted without his concern any longer. Among 73 data points of pronouns, the pronoun 'I' dominated the content of the speech, followed by the pronouns' we' and 'our', which had 12 data points each. The pronoun 'I' indicated the unmarked theme (subject/theme) in a declarative clause to only concern the former prime minister himself. Socially, situationally, and institutionally, it can be seen that Boris Johnson received pressure to step down from his position. Based on the discussion, it can be concluded that Boris Johnson wanted to build an image that he was a successful leader and still willing to contribute even after he was no longer in office. Further research could be carried out, especially in terms of research on the resignation speeches of world leaders.

Abstract

The creation of new entrepreneurs in the City of Banjarmasin and South Kalimantan Province is one of the missions of the local government as a commitment to encourage more people to start a business in the region. The Local Government took the initiative to develop a Business Incubator (Kawal Incubator and Inbitek Borneo Incubator) as a medium for developing and creating new and more focused entrepreneurs. This Study aims to analyze the role of business incubation in creating new entrepreneurs for 90 tenants from Kawal Incubator and 40 tenants from Inbitek Borneo. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with the Reflective, Recursive Design and Development Model (R2D2) model. Currently, the local community (Kalsel Creative Forum) manages a business incubation run by the City of Banjarmasin, while Inbitek Borneo is managed in-house. The Study shows that Full Stack Incubation Services are needed; legal facilitation, photo product, Business Logo, Digital Marketing, Funding opportunities (Credits and Grants), and access to the market. The Funding scheme provided by the government is too rigid to match the dynamism of business incubators; it requires more flexible financing. The incubation model also determines the success of the creation of new entrepreneurs, especially in the recruitment process, selection of mentors and mentors, curriculum, and program escalation.
