Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in language teaching has led teachers to shift their teaching-learning methods in their classrooms. This change undoubtedly demands that students be more autonomous outside and inside the classroom. Thus, the present study sought the EFL teachers' knowledge on promoting language learner autonomy (LLA) in their teaching-learning. Employing a survey study, a total of 70 EFL teachers in senior high school levels across Mataram, Indonesia, were involved in this study through a given questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 25 to find out the questionnaire's mean, frequency, and percentage through descriptive statistics analysis. The findings depicted that EFL teachers' knowledge of fostering LLA is positive. They perceived LLA as an essential concept for English language teaching and learning. Moreover, the EFL teachers' knowledge was rated at a moderate level. Nevertheless, many EFL teachers encountered some challenges in developing LLA. The challenges were related to the learners and the teachers, such as the lack of experience in LLA and the EFL teachers' lack of strategies for promoting LLA in their classrooms. The findings suggested that EFL teachers should consistently be able to enact language learner autonomy concepts in their classrooms to support their students to become more autonomous language learners outside the school, both in the EFL and ESL classroom settings.

Therefore, the research was to study how Weekly Performance Stage (WPS) was implemented to improve speaking skill and creativity. This idea raised from the principle of Differentiated Learning in Kurikulum Merdeka and Project Based Learning. The research has been done as the Classroom Action Research consisted of 6 meetings in the IX A Grade SMPN 1 Martapura. Along the study, the researcher had collected data by performing observation, performance assessment, and written form. The research findings were 80% students indicated in the very good and good categories of ability in speaking while 100% students had achieved more than minimum mastery score (?75) for understanding the lesson and creativity. Therefore, WPS is highly recommended for any teachers for improving students’ speaking skill and creativity. The researcher intentionally expects this research will raise other creative ideas and inspires other English teachers for facilitating students by meaningful and enjoyable learning.

Abstract

The development of interactive reading multimedia based on educational games for grade I students of SD Inpres Malakaya is motivated by students' issues, such as difficulty distinguishing similar letters and challenges in reading fluency and word formation. Teachers still rely on thematic books for teaching reading, which may lack student interest. This issue is exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing teachers from conducting direct guidance. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) study using the modified 4D model, encompassing three stages: define, design, and develop. The instruments include questionnaires for media and subject matter experts to assess product validity, and for students and teachers to evaluate product feasibility. Validation results by media experts yielded an overall score of 66, with a percentage of 88%, categorized as "highly Valid". Validation by subject matter experts resulted in an overall score of 65, with a percentage of 86.6%, also categorized as "highly Valid". Evaluation by grade I students of SD Inpres Malakaya yielded an overall score of 70, with a percentage of 93.3%, categorized as "Very Feasible". Meanwhile, the evaluation by the class teacher produced an overall score of 69, with a percentage of 89.3%, categorized as "Very Feasible". This demonstrates that interactive learning multimedia can be used as a teaching medium in the school and can be developed for use in various schools.

Abstract

This research aims to find out which language styles and how to analyze the stylistics that exist in the German advertisements of Nike, Coca-Cola, the North Face, and Porsche. This research is qualitative and descriptive and helps German teachers and students to understand the stylistics. The data in this research are words, sentences, dialogues, or conversations that contain language styles in German advertisements of Nike, Coca-Cola, the North Face, and Porsche. According to Kulmbach's theory, 48 out of 80 sentences in the four advertisements were identified as language styles. The most frequently used language style in these advertisements is the comparative language style, but the repetition, contradiction, and conjunctive language styles can also be found in some sentences. The comparative language style essentially compares two different things that are deliberately seen as the same thing. This research has been validated by an expert and the results of this analysis are accurate.

Abstract

Advanced technology recently has a significant impact on all aspects of life, including education. One of the most widespread practical uses of technology in education is digital mobile in which allows users to send various digital information from anywhere, anytime, and with anyone. This technology can also be linked to social media users. Utilization of various digital platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Form, Mentimeter, Google Meet, Kahoot, Microsoft Sway, YouTube which were packaged in this linktree are the tools used in this research. This research is a Classroom Action Research with the aim of improving students' short story writing skills using BRAIN technique as the learning steps for the students. BRAIN (Brainstorming, Read, Apply, Imagine, and Name) is a strategy development of the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) proposed by Shulman. This research was conducted in two cycles with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation and evaluation or reflection stages. The instruments used are observation sheets, documentation sheets, student's worksheets, and the students' writings in the form of short stories. There are two types of results in each cycle, group result and individual result. In the first cycle, the group results were 71% complete and the individual result was 72% completed. As for the second cycle, the group was completed 100% and the individual was 94% completed. It’s means that students have been able to write short stories according to the structure and linguistic elements. Thus, there is an increase in student learning outcomes in the form of short story texts and it can be concluded that the use of digital platforms assisted BRAIN techniques can improve writing short stories.

Abstract

Live worksheet- based German e-LKPD product on "die Familie" material for high school students which is assessed in terms of validity, practicality and effectiveness. This research uses R&D research with the ADDIE development model. The ADDIE model includes 5 stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This model includes 5 stages, namely the analysis stage which consists of needs analysis, material analysis, student analysis, the design stage which is designing the material contained in the e-LKPD, making the outline structure framework, making the e-LKPD assessment instrument, the development stage which is producing Liveworksheet -based German e-LKPD, in this stage expert validation of the e-module being developed is also carried out. The validators chosen are 1 material expert validator and 1 media expert. The aspects assessed by the material expert validator include aspects of appropriateness of content, presentation, language and graphics and aspects assessed by media expert validators are appropriateness of content, graphics and audio/video. The final stage is the evaluation stage, at this stage the final revision of the Liveworksheet- based German e-LKPD that has been developed is carried out. Revisions are made according to the evaluation results and needs that cannot be met by e-LKPD as a result of development. The validation results from the material expert validator were 93% in the very valid category and the media expert validator's results were 94% in the very valid category. The results of the student response questionnaire in small group trials obtained results of 93% in the very practical category and the results of the field trials carried out obtained results of 93% in the very practical category. The effectiveness of the product in improving student learning outcomes is assessed based on the average N-Gain score. In the small group trial, an N-Gain score was obtained of 0.71 and in the field trial, an N-Gain score was obtained of 0.72, which means there was an increase in both classes in the high category. This shows that the live worksheet- based Interactive German Language e-LKPD product is valid, practical and effective in use.
