Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that increases the risk of heart, brain, kidney, and other diseases. This disease can occur at any age, including adolescents and risk factors for hypertension in adolescence include BMI, insufficient sleep duration, low physical activity, poor diet, alcohol consumption, and smoking behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine lifestyle factors that influence the incidence of hypertension in adolescents. This research method is a literature review that aims to find the influence of lifestyle on the incidence of hypertension in adolescents. This research uses the PRISMA method, which is considered appropriate to achieve the research objectives. The PRISMA method consists of five steps: determining the research topic, searching for relevant sources, selecting relevant sources, classifying and analyzing these sources, and compiling a summary of research results (Ginting & Hadi, 2023). To start, use PubMed, Google Scholar, and SciSpace as research databases. The literature search used keywords in Indonesian and English, such as "lifestyle", "hypertension", "adolescence", "lifestyle" and "hypertension in adolescent". PubMed found 10,699 articles, Google Scholar found 6,940 articles, and databases SciSpace found 60 articles. The results of this literature review showed that lifestyle factors affecting the incidence of hypertension in adolescents are BMI, physical activity, smoking behavior, alcohol consumption, sleep duration, and poor diet (fat intake). In this study, lifestyles that influence the incidence of hypertension in adolescents are physical activity, smoking behavior, alcohol consumption, sleep duration, and poor diet (fat intake).

Abstract

Bullying has been identified as a serious problem around the world and has been linked with mental health problems such as depression. This study examined the relationship between bullying and depression among adolescents from three different schools and provinces in Indonesia. A total of 521 participants completed the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and answered two survey questions about bullying: whether they had witnessed bullying and whether they had ever experienced bullying. We found that most of the participants had a minimum level of depression (42%), while the majority of them reported having witnessed bullying (92%) and experienced bullying (61%). Among those who experienced bullying, the distribution of depression severity was as follows: severe (20.18%), moderate (19.87%), mild (21.76%), and minimum (38.17%). Interestingly, the relationship between depression severity and bullying involvement was not found to be statistically significant according to the Mann-Whitney test. These results indicate a high prevalence of bullying despite the relatively low prevalence of depression among the participant. The study's impact is limited due to the absence of information on other important factors that might affect the connection between bullying and depression such as family environment, social support, cultural influences, etc. Our findings give insight into how bullying and depression are related among Indonesian adolescents. However, the lack of a statistically significant relationship indicates that a careful interpretation is needed. We recommend future investigations to explore confounding factors to gain a comprehensive understanding of bullying's impact on depression.

Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a worldwide problem that presents a substantial risk to the healthcare of the general population. Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) is essential in hospitals to optimize the use of antimicrobial agents and address the challenges of drug resistance, superinfection, and rising healthcare costs. However, there are still many obstacles in the implementation of the antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) in hospitals and healthcare, so the decline in AMR to date is still not in line with expectations. The purpose of this study is to analyze antimicrobial stewardship research trends and to determine the progress of antimicrobial stewardship research in hospitals or healthcare. This study is qualitative research with a literature study approach. Taken from the Scopus database in the last five years, 534 articles were obtained to be analyzed using Mapchart, VOSviewer, and Rstudio-Biblioshiny. The results show that implementation of AMS is still widely studied from year to year. Research trends show the success of AMS in overcoming AMR, the barriers that occur during implementation, and the factors that contribute to the running of the AMS program. The findings also show authors, countries that publish the most, journals that are most cited, topics that are rarely published, and themes that can be developed in the future. The conclusion of this study is to determine the development of AMS research and to gain a better understanding of AMP implementation.

Abstract

Forests are a store of carbon stocks, carbon is transferred from the atmosphere into the plant body through the process of photosynthesis. The occurrence of land conversion and land cover changes can cause the loss of carbon stocks, causing global warming. This study aims to identify changes in carbon stocks (C) due to land use change, as well as carbon emissions caused by the use of industrial forest land, dry land, and horticultural land in Bontang City, the part of East Borneo. Carbon stock in land consists of several components, namely soil carbon, top plant carbon, bottom plant carbon, litter carbon, and necromass carbon. The measurement results show that the largest carbon stock value is found in industrial forest land type 2 with a value of 158.54ton/ha. Carbon emissions occurred in the period 2009 to 2016 on forest land that was turned into type 1 industrial forest land, moor, and horticulture. The carbon emission that occurs is 34.09kton.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the level of maternal guilt experienced by female intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Maternal guilt is a common emotional experience among working mothers and often arises when women find it difficult to meet the dual demands of their professional responsibilities and the expectations associated with motherhood. Female ICU nurses, who work in a high-pressure environment with significant demands on their time and energy, are particularly vulnerable to experiencing this guilt due to the nature of their work, which requires constant vigilance and care for critically ill patients. This study was conducted using a descriptive survey design, involving 105 female ICU nurses from 11 hospitals in South Kalimantan. The study used the Maternal Occupational Guilt Scale (MEGS) to measure the level of maternal guilt. Findings showed that the majority of nurses surveyed reported experiencing moderate to high levels of maternal guilt. Those aged 30–39 years and those with two or three children were found to be particularly affected. This study highlights the need for targeted interventions to support female ICU nurses in managing their dual roles, with the potential for such initiatives to improve mental health outcomes and enhance the quality of care provided to patients. Furthermore, this study underscores the importance of understanding the cultural and social context of maternal guilt in South Kalimantan to develop effective and culturally sensitive strategies. A comprehensive understanding of this local context is essential to alleviate this emotional burden and support the well-being of these healthcare professionals.

Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the world's most prevalent causes of morbidity and mortality. About 5.6% of Indonesians have COPD. Most COPD patients have mucus hypersecretion and inadequate mucus clearance, leading to airway obstruction. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a mucolytic drug with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Long-term oral NAC use in COPD remains controversial. We searched four databases to analyze the effects of oral NAC in COPD over a minimum six-month treatment. The data was analyzed through Review Manager 5.4. Eight randomized controlled trials, comprising 3.187 patients, were selected for inclusion in the study. NAC had a lower risk of exacerbations (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.66-0.93; p=0.005), whether at high dose (1200mg/day) or low dose (600mg/day). The risk is higher at the high dose (RR 0.90, p=0.04) than at the low dose (RR 0.70, p=0.0002). NAC did not affect FEV1 (mean difference 4.71, 95% CI -3.20-12.61; p=0.24), and adverse events were the same as with placebo (RR 1.14, 95% CI 0.78-1.67; p=0.51). Long-term oral NAC reduces the risk of COPD exacerbations at any dose and was well tolerated.

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis remains a major global health problem. About 50% of musculoskeletal tuberculosis involves the spine. Vitamin D deficiency is related to a higher risk of tuberculosis infection. Vitamin D has a potential benefit on the immune system during tuberculosis spondylitis. Methods: A systematic review was performed using PRISMA flowchart in five databases to identify articles until July 24th 2024. The risk of bias was evaluated by modified Jadad Scale. Results: Three articles using randomized controlled trials, with a total 162 patients. High-dose vitamin D supplementation (5.000IU and 10.000IU) showed significant efficacy in several indicators. Serum vitamin D levels increased to 38.49 ng/mL. There was an improvement in immune response (TLR2, TLR4) and a decrease in inflammatory markers (TGF-?1, IL-10, IL-17, IL-23, CRP, and ESR). High-dose vitamin D administration was shown to increase overall efficacy (95.65% vs. 80.43%, p<0.05), reduce pain, and improve spinal cord injury grade and activities of daily living. No difference in adverse events was observed in the intervention group. Conclusion: Vitamin D supplementation may improve the efficacy of tuberculosis spondylitis treatment. Further research is needed to determine the recommended dose and duration of supplementation in clinical practice.
