Abstract

Forecasting is the prediction, projection, or estimation of the occurrence of an uncertain event or activity in the future. The purpose of forecasting is to use the best information currently available to guide future activities to achieve the goals of the organization many strategies need to be considered and carried out by a company to make the right planning to meet the existing target demand. In a business context, forecasting is very important because it helps companies plan production, manage inventory, plan finances, and make other strategic decisions. One of the shirt production companies in Surabaya is experiencing problems in meeting production demand. This happens because the forecasting calculation of the amount of demand is not accurate so the company cannot meet consumer demand which sometimes jumps high. Based on these problems, improvements are needed by analyzing production capacity planning so the purpose of this study is to obtain accurate capacity planning using the Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) method. Based on data processing, it can be concluded that Overtime issued a total of IDR 426.796.700, and sub-contract issued a total of IDR 117.345.600. Based on the analysis using the Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) method, this is due to several possibilities, including the lack of accuracy when doing the forecast with the existing reality, the existence of tools and machines that experience interference (error), and other factors.

Abstract

XYZ is a company that operates in the frozen food industry in particular. The company is a producer of high-quality frozen food products for export, so, naturally, other stakeholders in each division of the company need to work together well. Machine maintenance is a key aspect in maintaining the performance and reliability of industrial equipment. To increase machine maintenance efficiency in this factory, a comprehensive and structured approach is needed. Therefore, this research will discuss the machine maintenance strategy implemented in the Sabroe production line. The two methods that will be the main focus of this research are Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Maintenance Value Stream Mapping (MVSM). The conclusion obtained by examining the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) for each component in the blanching machine, it can be concluded that the gearbox component has the highest RPN, namely 216, which is the result of multiplying the Severity, Occurrence, and Detection values. During the period of breakdowns and repairs of the blanching machine, the Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) is found to be 242.2538 hours. Meanwhile, the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) reaches 172.6 minutes or equivalent to 2.8 hours. The gearbox component requires a repair time of 2.8 hours. The inspection interval for the gearbox component is calculated for 302.01 hours, or every 12 days in a month. Efficiency analysis of maintenance using the Maintenance Value Stream Mapping approach indicates that the percentage of maintenance efficiency reaches 73.2%. Activities that add value require a longer time, around 172.6 minutes, while activities that do not add value require about 63.2 minutes.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company operating in the food industry, with its main product being instant noodles. In its production process, not all products produced meet the quality standards set by the company. This indicates the presence of defective products, often due to errors in factors such as machinery or human resources, among others. Initial observations reveal that there are still many defects in their products. Quality control at PT. XYZ is done manually by the owner, who supervises each production cycle. Defects in PT. XYZ's products are categorized into three types: torn noodle packaging, crushed noodles, and torn seasoning packaging. Therefore, improvements are needed in the production of instant noodles by PT. XYZ. This research aims to improve the quality of production in the company and to explain the approach to analyzing the defect rate of instant noodles using Six Sigma and Kaizen. The results obtained using the Six Sigma method in the DMAIC analysis (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), showed that product quality testing during the instant noodle production process resulted in 3238 failures. The Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) value was 41172.88, which, when converted to a sigma level, was 3.23, indicating that the sigma level was at the industry average in Indonesia. This suggests that there is a potential for 41172.88 defects per one million productions, showing an inconsistent pattern of DPMO and sigma achievement. This indicates that the production process has not been managed accurately and requires improvement, particularly in the quest for zero defects.

Abstract

Leachate is water that comes from piles of rubbish that seeps in with dissolved or suspended material from the decomposition of rubbish. The contents of leachate include BOD, COD, pH, ammonia-nitrogen, heavy metals and suspended solids. One type of leachate treatment is a constructed wetland. A constructed wetland is a treatment that is engineered with a planned and controlled wastewater treatment system that involves the function of plants, media, and microorganism. This constructed wetland in this research uses subsurface flow with a continuous method on a laboratory scale. In this research, there were several variations such as plants, sampling times and discharge. The plants used are water jasmine (Echinodorus palaefolius) and spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum). With variations in discharge of 5L/day, 7L/day, 9L/day as well as variations in sampling time on the 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th day. The best TSS and COD reduction results in this study were at discharge of 5L/day on sampling time on the 14th day of 96,3% and 94,4% for water jasmine and 92,6% and 88,9% for spider plants. The pH and temperature in this study were observed for 14 days and it was found that the lowest pH and temperature for water jasmine and spider plant were 7,1 and 26,7°C, 7,6 and 26,7°Cfor spider plant.

Abstract

In line with the current development of society, the need for electricity can be said to be a primary need that must be met to support community activities, both for economic purposes and to fulfill daily household needs. The research was conducted at one of the power generation companies. Based on the results of initial observations and interviews with workers at the company, it was explained that the potential danger of work accidents in the boiler machine area at the Steam-Electric Power Station was considered high. Dangers of work accidents that can occur in the boiler area include hot weather, noise, sparks, water vapor leaks, contact with hot steam pipes, high pressure, slipping, and falling from heights. The danger that has occurred in the boiler machine area is noise, noise often occurs because workers underestimate the use of earplugs or earmuffs because they feel they often work without using earplugs. This research aims to analyze the potential dangers of work accidents in the PLTU boiler machine area in the company. Analysis of potential accident hazards was carried out using the HAZOP method. It is hoped that the HAZOP method will enable researchers to know the dangers and how to overcome them to minimize the risk of occupational hazards. This method has the advantage that work using this method will run systematically, the results obtained are more detailed compared to other methods and can be used in various systems. The results of the research show that the risk of danger in power generation companies amounts to 12 potential work accident hazards. Potential dangers of work accidents consist of deafness (25%), burns (17%), slips (9%), shortness of breath (9%), dehydration (8%), electric shock (8%), pinching (8%), fire (8%), and corrosion (8%).

Abstract

Company X, one of the largest dolomite fertilizer manufacturers in Indonesia, has recently encountered issues regarding discrepancies in information regarding demand and orders between the company and its eight sales offices. This problem mainly pertains to the Magnesium Fertilizer Magfertil 20+ product in 50 kg packaging. This situation has disrupted the company's supply chain and led to uncertainty in demand, commonly known as the bullwhip effect in the supply chain. The objective of this research is to achieve optimal inventory management to reduce the bullwhip effect among stakeholders in Company X's supply chain. The approach used is the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) method. The calculation results demonstrate that the implementation of the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) method has been highly successful in reducing the bullwhip effect at various levels within the supply chain. For instance, at the manufacturing level, the initial bullwhip effect value was 1.4503, but after implementing the VMI method, it significantly decreased to 0.4943. Meanwhile, the bullwhip effect I value at each sales office in Office Sales 1, Office Sales 2, Office Sales 3, Office Sales 4, Office Sales 5, Office Sales 6, Office Sales 7, Office Sales 8 is 1.4198, 1.4455, 1.6277, 1.4902, 1.3204, 1, 2093, 1.2994 and 1.4744. However, when applying the proposed VMI method the results of the bullwhip effect decreased drastically until the figures were 0.5007, 0.4773, 0.4909, 0.5097, 0.4975, 0.5015, 0.5014 and 0.4902.
