Abstract

The absence of teaching aids is still an obstacle in the learning process of Internet of Things (IoT)-based interfacing subjects where students have difficulty understanding the material obtained other than because of the lack of microcontroller practice experience that makes students less understanding how to operate a microcontroller and also because of a lack of basic knowledge about IoT. The design of the ESP-32 microcontroller-based IoT interface trainer is intended as a teaching aid to help understand the interfacing of microcontrollers using several protocols and can be used as an Internet of Things teaching aid to help students practice monitoring and controlling input-output on a microcontroller using a smartphone via the internet network. In designing this trainer, direct observations were made on learning activities for IoT and interfacing subjects as well as conducting questions and answers with several students. This trainer uses RFID, RTC and LCD modules as interfacing teaching aids that are connected to the ESP-32 microcontroller, and there are components in the form of LEDs and potentiometers to practice the concept of the Internet of Things. Pin headers for microcontroller interface pin expansion are also available on this trainer which can be connected to more modules and other components. The modules and components in this trainer design are connected to the ESP32 microcontroller in one integrated circuit board so as to provide practicality in using it.

Abstract

The undergraduate thesis is a scientific work produced by a final year student who collaborates with his supervisor as a condition to be able to complete his studies at a university. The increase in the number of thesis works has caused the library at the Faculty of Computer Science, UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur to start overcapacity in accommodating the physical thesis books from each student, therefore in another part of the research conducted by the author, an undergraduate thesis book management system has been created in the library of the Faculty of Computer Science UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur, which is named E-Read. Through the system built, all student undergraduate thesis works can be stored in digital form so that the problem of overcapacity of student physical books can be handled and provides convenience in managing and accessing the thesis data. This study aims to add a ranking feature for thesis manuscripts stored in the E-Read system database based on the popularity of the number of undergraduate theses works accessed by system users. Through this ranking feature, the users of the E-Read system, especially students, can find out the works that are most frequently accessed by other users so that they can provide more references to give ideas in finding the research topic that they will be working on. Based on the tests carried out, it can be stated that the system has fulfilled all functional requirements and has a very satisfactory usability value by producing a value above 3 for 12 attributes, and a value of 2.8 for 1 attribute.

Abstract

During the current Covid-19 pandemic, digital technology plays an active role in online learning. In online learning, we can take advantage of technology even though it is limited by distance. Currently, we need a digital literacy system that helps children's learning, especially elementary school children. A child can learn online anywhere using a computer. Digital literacy can help children's development in terms of reading. Reading is a complex activity in students that can produce a new mindset after reading. However, there are not a few students who rarely read and there are also those whose reading interest has decreased due to the change in the learning system to distance learning. Educators can take advantage of digital literacy in increasing students' reading interest so that students can maximize online learning for learning development. This study focuses on how to design a web-based literacy information system to support children's learning to increase children's interest in reading and knowledge, which is called the “Eduliterasi” system. Utilizing this application can provide a direct reading experience and with many topics that can be read.

Show Abstract | Download Original | Original Source | Check in Google Scholar | DOI: 10.11594/nstp.2022.2433

Abstract

Punctuation errors in Indonesian often occur in Indonesian scientific writing. This error was caused intentionally and unintentionally by the author. The factor of intentional is because the author does not have time to make independent improvements after writing, while unintentional occurs because of the author's ignorance of the appropriate form of punctuation. Therefore, the punctuation error detection system in Indonesian writing was developed to overcome them. The name of the application is KEBI 1.0 Checker which was a web-based application and provided three features, namely punctuation detection, typo detection, and standard words detection. The research proposed to evaluate the performance of application based on punctuation errors using a rule-based spelling checker that can be detected were in the form of comma punctuation, hyphens in repeat words, and writing of pre-, post-, and inter- particles, as well as writing prefixes with additional English verbs. After the application was tested on ten scientific papers, KEBI 1.0 Checker showed accuracy for correcting punctuation errors reached an accuracy of 76.67%, precision of 100%, and recall of 76.67%.

Abstract

Since 2019, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur has been awarded a predicate of “Klaster Mandiri” (Self-Governing Cluster) in terms of research based on the assessment of university research performance in 2016-2018. The status has a direct impact on the increasing number of research funds that can be managed internally by LPPM. However, in managing its activities related to the implementation of independent grants, LPPM faces challenges. Especially in the last two years, the pandemic of Covid-19 has forced any organization, including LPPM, to find an alternative way to the restricted face-to-face interaction. Hence, many activities such as submitting research proposals or progress reports previously carried out offline had to be done online. However, the tools used to exchange and store data (soft-copy files) are still very simple since LPPM only uses e-mail and google drive. The disadvantage of this method is that documents are vulnerable to lose, and if there is an urgent request for data that must be quantified, it is difficult to fulfill. Therefore, it is necessary to transform the business processes to facilitate online interaction as an alternative and complement to offline interaction and improve the quality of the research administration. This change in business processes is implemented by an application named SIMARIS which will be the focus of discussion in this paper. SIMARIS is developed using the V Model and ICONIX process. As a reference in the coding stage, UML diagrams generated from the Iconix process will be used. The application was developed using the PHP CI 3 framework and then tested using the Black-Box method. The results of the black box testing confirm that all features that have been developed match the user's requirements. This application is intended to be used by lecturers and mainly by LPPM to better manage its self-governing research and community engagement activities.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on transactions and economic activities for online sellers and traditional markets. Sellers need a new strategy to determine products that have the potential to be sold, one of which is through product research. Product research is a strategy for sellers to find information about a product that customers need and reach the target market by comparing the competitive price, quality, and product variants. Not only online shops but also traditional market sellers must also know product research to be able to survive the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on these problems, community service programs were held by inviting seller partners from the Gresik city market to provide briefing and assistance on product research. The results of the product research show that the kitchenware products sold by Sumber Rejeki shops as seller partners in the program have similarities with competitor products sold in the Shopee marketplace. There were five products analyzed, namely plastic plates, rattan plates, egg molds, bakwan mold, and wooden vegetable cutters. The product descriptions listed by seller partners in the Shopee marketplace have disadvantages, they are not describing product quality, name product titles too short, set prices that are less competitive with competitors, and lack efforts to promote products. Therefore, the results of this product research are expected to be able to improve the strategy of sellers to determine product details and variants, prices, product quality against competitors

Abstract

One health disorder that is categorized as a serious disease and can cause death is an inflamed lung condition, which is then called pneumonia. Each year, pneumonia infects about 450 million people (about 7% of the world's total population) and causes about 4 million deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020 reported that this disease is the cause of 15% of deaths in children under 5 years old. In Indonesia, based on a report from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2018, the number of people experiencing health problems due to pneumonia is around 2%. The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred since the beginning of 2020 has worsened this condition massively. The SARS-CoV-2 Corona Virus, which causes Covid-19, attacks the respiratory tract and infects the lungs, which then causes the lungs to become inflamed. Pneumonia due to COVID-19 is then known as Covid-19 Pneumonia. This research aims to detect COVID-19 pneumonia based on digital images obtained from the acquisition of lung objects from X-rays / x-rays of the lungs. The experimental process is carried out to classify the image of the lungs in normal conditions (no inflammation), experiencing inflammation due to the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus (covid-19 Pneumonia), or experiencing inflammation due to other factors (pneumonia). The classification approach used is the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method which uses a 5-layer convolution architecture with filter values of 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256. The experimental process uses 3900 images for the training process, 450 images for the validation process, and 225 images for the testing process. Based on the testing process that has been carried out, the performance of the Covid-19 Pneumonia classification resulted in an accuracy of 84.88%, a precision of 0.85, a recall of 0.84, and an f1 score of 0.85.
