Abstract

Women's equal participation in politics is critical to women's advancement. This determination, however, is not to be made uniformly across the globe. Yet, in contemporary periods, it has witnessed a significant shift in women's political participation globally. The purpose of this paper is to gain a better understanding of women's overall participation, their socioeconomic status, and their valuable role in urban policy formulation and implementation in Bangladesh. In this analysis, primary and secondary data are integrated. Primary sources are referenced to substantiate theories and arguments asserted in the secondary literature, which are based on the case study of Narayanganj City Corporation. It is completed with the assistance of theories and contentions gleaned from secondary sources. Additionally, this study concludes with an examination of Bangladeshi women's position in the decision-making process. Another pressing need is to broaden the participation of women in political culture at the grassroots level. In urban areas, the City Corporation must interact with various government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous bodies. The situation of female ward councillors has deteriorated to the point where there is some ambiguity. Women's involvement in politics has been limited by a decline in financial capital and family support. Women can appeal to low-level politics thanks to a patriarchal viewpoint. In Bangladesh, women continue to struggle for equal rights and face political challenges. Societal norms enforce gender stereotypes. Religious restrictions are the most severe concern among Bangladesh's status issues, which have a complicated structure. Women are not politically socialized enough to participate in the political life of their country. The City Corporation's institutional rules and responsibilities are of little concern to women, and the existing regulations are insufficient. Therefore, the paper can reveal the actual scenario of women's representation and obstacles in the urban level of Bangladesh.

Abstract

It has been more than one year that the Covid-19 pandemic has hit Indonesia. In the face of this pandemic, governments from the national and district levels have responded with policies that limit social activities, resulting in decreased mobility in the community to prevent the transmission of Covid-19. This ultimately has an impact on economic growth. In addition, policies in the health sector are also the main thing, starting from the handling of Covid19 patients at the beginning of the pandemic to the provision of vaccines in the New Normal era. The focus of this writing will look at the transformation of local government policies in the New Normal era of two districts in Indonesia, namely South Bengkulu (Bengkulu) and Pidie (Aceh) to maintain economic stability and health in their regions. By using a policy implementation approach and qualitative descriptive analysis methods, this article aims to understand how local government policies transform in the pandemic era. This study concludes that the policy transformation of the local government of Bengkulu Selatan and Pidie districts in maintaining economic stability and the district generally follows the rules from the central government, but is adjusted to the situation and conditions of the district, such as the Covid-19 transmission rate and the budget owned by each region respectively.

Abstract

Limited evidence is presented for the evaluation of a particular online service, especially in developing countries. Cambodia introduced an online vehicle plate registration in 2017. Since then, there have not been any research studies on the quality of this public online service after the implementation. This research has two main aims: (1) to describe the quality of online vehicle plate registration and (2) to present citizens' perspectives who have experienced this online service provided by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MoPWT). The research employs a mix-method combining online questionnaires (100) and in-depth interviews (10) to answer the research questions regarding website design, reliability, citizen support, trust, and accessibility. The average score for all components and overall service quality is 2, suggesting that people perceive the service as having low quality. The results strengthen the influence of reliability and citizen support on the people’s perception of service quality as claimed by researchers. However, it contradicts the previous research in that website design though not well appreciated does not have much influence on the quality of service as claimed. The research also indicates some issues with the online system. Building more trust, providing better citizen support in time, and finally reducing the chances of corruption are components of services quality that should be improved to increase the number of people using the online service and increase citizen satisfaction.Online Service; Service Quality; Customers; Cambodia; Perspective; Citizen Support; Reliability

Abstract

Aviation is an inseparable part of transportation in any country. The aviation sector is one of the sectors most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Indirectly, the spread of the Covid-19 virus can occur in airlines, which are the fast transportation options for passengers. Indonesia has taken a policy to stop its aviation sector from reducing the spread of the Covid-19 virus and prioritize the health of its citizens. The drastically reduced flight frequency without clarity of time impacts many losses to the aviation industry. The Indonesian government plans a gradual recovery effort in the aviation sector through domestic flights. However, there are concerns from the Indonesian people, as airline passengers who will be traveling, regarding their health safety on flights during the large-scale social distancing period during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study will discuss the strategies of the Indonesian government in the aviation sector after the Covid-19 pandemic to still prioritize the health of its citizens. This study uses the theory of the foreign policy decision-making process. The method used in this study is a qualitative based research method. This study concludes that the strategies taken by the Indonesian government include reducing 50% of passenger capacity to enforce safe distances, sanitizing aircraft, and for prospective passengers to be required to show a certificate of negative Covid-19 results through a PCR swab test or GeNose C19.
