Abstract

Ethics is usually closely related to the values and norms that exist in a society. In practice, political ethics demands that all claims to the right to organize association be accounted for on basic moral principles. Therefore political ethics seeks to help society to realize the noble state ideology into objective political reality. This study discusses the Machievelli’s view of political ethics and its comparison with the Islamic theory of political ethics. Previous research focused more on understanding political ethics according to Machievelli only and understanding political ethics according to Islam only. While this research will complement the last gap research, namely comparing the understanding of political ethics according to Machievelli and Islam. The authors used a descriptive method with data collection techniques in journals, articles, and other literature in this study. From the perspective of Machievelli, ethics is often considered secondary or not essential. Political ethics cannot be applied in international politics and prioritizes self-interest rather than moral principles. Realizing self-interest by the state is seen as a right, or a duty considered a realist principle. In contrast, Islam views political ethics as a guide that upholds the values of justice and respects human rights to create sustainable peace under religious norms.

Abstract

ACFTA (ASEAN China Free Trade Area) is one of the collaborations built by Indonesia in the context of improving the domestic economy, in which Indonesia must follow the free trade policies and regulations set by the WTO (World Trade Organization). Indonesia's readiness to face this free trade is highly questionable. This also has an impact on MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in Indonesia, with the existence of free trade, trade competition is getting hotter. This article aims to look at the implications of ACFTA (ASEAN China Free Trade Area) on the development of Indonesian SMEs. Qualitative research with analytical descriptive methods is applied in this study, based on data sources obtained through library research techniques. This study shows that the implication of ACFTA (ASEAN China Free Trade Area) is not contributing to the economic improvement of MSMEs (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) this is inseparable from the government factor which is more concerned with Chinese imports and the lack of understanding of marketing for MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises)

Abstract

The AUKUS Trilateral Security Pact is a form of collective security cooperation, and this study examines its effects on South Pacific regional security. To stabilize regional security in the South Pacific, which is a main target of China’s maritime ambitions, the authors emphasize the urgency of AUKUS’s presence. To shed light on the issue, the authors used the collective security concept to dissect the framework of cooperation, the motives of AUKUS, and the Security Dilemma concept to explain how geopolitical shifts affect the security stability of the South Pacific. This research employed qualitative methods with an explanatory type of research. In this type of research, the formulated hypothesis was tested to see how the variables under study affected one another. According to this research’s findings, AUKUS’s approach to military confrontation as a partnership for collective security actually encourages an aggressive coalition and poses a security risk, thereby increasing the likelihood of further conflict in the South Pacific region.
