Abstract

This research examines the search patterns carried out by users in the Mataram State Islamic University library. The goals of this research is to analyze information search patterns carried out by users using the Google search engine. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the search patterns carried out by users at the Mataram State Islamic University Library tend to use simple search features. The features that can be used are image, news, video and calculator search features and file extensions. In using these features, users only enter keywords directly in the search column then select the image tab to search for images, videos to search for videos, news. In advanced searches, the feature that can be used is searching based on file type by adding the file extension at the end. searched keywords (.doc, .docx, .pdf, etc.). Readers who use this type of file did not access it via advanced search, but directly enter keywords and the file extension in the search column.

Abstract

A B S T R A C T This article explains the importance of communication between librarians as providers of information and users as recipients of information. Communication in the context of library organizations is an essential need in a variety of forms, including verbal communication, written communication, non-verbal communication, and direct face-to-face interaction. The focus of this article is related to effective verbal communication strategies in increasing interaction with library users. The research method uses case studies and literature studies, which he took from trusted sources or previous research. The purpose of this research was to provide informants with an overview of communication strategies in the library environment as well as steps that can be used as a reference to improve interaction between informants, librarians and libraries. Based on the results of research on verbal communication in the Muhammadiyyah University Ponorogo Library, one of which uses social media, namely You Tube, Instagram and Tik Tok, this was obtained based on observations that verbal communication in the Muhammadiyyah University library was solid, short and clear, this is in accordance with the theory that has been stated. convey the researchers before us.

Abstract

This paper discusses strategies for using social media in the Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University Library. This strategy involves outreach through posters, banners and pamphlets uploaded to social media such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and WhatsApp. Social media acts as a tool for promotion, communication, and handling direct communication obstacles in libraries. Librarians can also provide feedback, suggestions, criticism and suggestions via social media, which supports efforts to improve library quality and awareness. The use of social media also helps libraries become better known in the community and facilitates the exchange of information with related agencies. Challenges related to the use of social media include difficulty adapting to technological developments and a lack of organization in the use of social media in libraries. Therefore, good communication, both through social media and writing, is considered the key to making a library friendly and comfortable.

Abstract

The research conducted in Surabaya aimed to describe the efforts of working mothers in fostering reading habits in their children. The study population consisted of working mothers with children from preschool age to early elementary school. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling with criteria of working in the formal sector, having children aged 2-7 years, and being either married or single parents. Data were collected through surveys using semi-open questionnaires and probing techniques to gain in-depth information about the unique efforts made by respondents. Primary data came from the questionnaires and probing, while secondary data were obtained from various literature sources. Observations were also conducted to observe related phenomena. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were used to enrich the research results. The study concluded that the role conflict of working mothers affects the division of time between work and household duties, hindering efforts to foster children's reading interest. Although working mothers strive for balance, their main focus often remains on household chores. Children's reading activities are done in between busy schedules, not at specially scheduled times. Mothers with flexible working hours, such as lecturers or teachers, are better able to schedule their children's reading time. This research emphasizes the importance of time flexibility in supporting children's education at home and the need for effective strategies to support children's reading interest amidst the busyness of working mothers.

Abstract

The librarian's professional code of ethics is the capital of professional values ??and rules, which must be carried out by all librarians in the process of their work. The purpose of this research is to find out how the Implementation of the Librarian Professional Code of Ethics to Realize the Integrity of Librarians as the Main Strength in Improving the Image of the Library at the Library Board of the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya, whether the librarian has implemented the librarian professional code of ethics properly in accordance with the rules that have been set. . The research method used is a qualitative approach. The focus of the research is the implementation of the code of ethics for the librarian profession by the librarian at the University Library on 17 August 1945, Surabaya. Determination of informants by purposive sampling amounted to 6 (six) people while for data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is through data reduction, data presentation, data storage, and verification. The results of the study can be concluded that the Librarian of the Library Board of the University of 17 August 1945, Surabaya, in carrying out his obligations to the Nation and State, the librarian has carried out his duties well. In establishing a relationship with the user, the librarian uses a communal approach method. In establishing relationships with professional organizations, namely by attending seminars, the relationship between librarians and outsiders has been going very well. The librarians of the University of 17 August 1945 also understand the code of ethics for librarians that is used as their basis for carrying out their duties and responsibilities in the library. The basic attitude of the librarian is that the librarian has served the users well and is responsible for the job descriptions of each librarian. The impact that is felt if a librarian does not apply the code of ethics properly and correctly is that the librarian will become arrogant and indifferent to the user. However, until now, no one has violated the librarian's code of ethics. So the librarians of the University of 17 August 1945 in Surabaya have implemented the librarian's code of ethics and realized the integrity of the librarian well.
