Abstract

The  aims  of  this  research  is  to  find  out  the  significant  correlation  between  the students’ attitude toward the students English achievement, to find out the significant correlation between learning motivation toward the students English achievement, and to find out the significant simultaneously between students’ attitude and learning motivation toward the students English achievement at the first grade in SMAN 3 Tolitoli. This research use quantitative analysis, the population of this research is the first grade of SMAN 3 Tolitoli and the sample of this research are 33 students. The researcher used questionnaire   as the main technique of collecting the data, the result of this research showed that there was significant correlation between students’ attitude toward the students English achievement, it is proved Tcount2,1113>Ttable 2,045. The second, there was no significant correlation between learning motivation toward the students English achievement, it is proved Tcont0,3234<T table 2,045,  the  third  there  was  no  significant  simultaneously  between  students’  attitude  and learning  motivation  toward  the  students  English  achievement  it  is  proved  sig  f  change 0,136>0,05.  The  conclusion  from  this  research  there  was  no  significant  simultaneously between students’ attitude and learning motivation toward the students English achievement.Keyword: Attitude, motivation, achievement

Abstract

This study aims to determine what are the teaching skills that implemented by students in the microteaching course at the University of Madako Tolitoli. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research that located in University of Madako Tolitoli. The data source consists of 10 students who had practiced microteaching class. Data collection techniques used interview and documentation. The result of this study shows that students majoring in English who had been followed the practice of microteaching implemented seven (7) teaching skills. They are opening skill, explaining skill, reinforcement, variation skill, questioning skill, class management skill, and closing and evaluating skill.Key words : teaching skill, microteaching

Abstract

The  purpose  of  this  research  is  to  discribe  the  English  teachers’ perception about the Dynamics of the implementation of the school based curriculum and the 2013  curriculum.  This research  conduct  in  four  defferent  schools,  they  were  SMAN  1, SMAN 2, SMAN 3, and SMKN 1 Tolitoli where the repondents were two English teacher from each school. In collecting the data, the researcher give questionnaire to all of the respondents. To get more deep information the researcher also apply interview to five respondents. The result of the interv iew show that the good curriculum to be implemented in the school is the school based curriculum with the spporting factors such as the method used in teaching, the process of evaluation and the the teachers’ time in teaching. Then the result of the questionnaire show that the percentage is 55%, while the percentage of the 2013 curriculum is 45%. Considering the finding of this research, the government must to carefully in taking decision in the future. Key words: The teachers’ Perception, the School Based Curriculum, the 2013 Curriculum.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to compare the effectiveness jigsaw and STAD at the eight  grade   of   SMPN 4   Tolitoli. It was true experimental research. It was conducted at the eight grade of   SMPN 4 Tolitoli. The researcher gave a pre-test to measure the students previous reading skill. Then, a post test was to find out the students reading skill after giving treatment which used jigsaw technique and STAD. The researcher used SPSS 21 program to analyze the data collection. The result of the data analysis showed that the average score of VIII C (Jigsaw class) was for the 51,472 pre- test and 81,904 for the post-test. The average score of VIII A (STAD class) was 53,412 for the pre-test and 80,364 for the post-test. Jigsaw technique and STAD was effective to improve students’ reading skill at the eight grade of SMPN 4 Tolitoli. Although, both of the  technique  could  improve  students’  reading  skill  but  the  obtained  score  of  t-test showed that t-score -0,646 was lower than t-table 2,011. It meant that Ho was accepted and Ha was rejected. Since, the tc was lower than tt, there was no significance difference in the achievement students in class VIII C who were tought mind Jigsaw technique and students in class VIII A who were taught STAD. Key words: Comparative, Jigsaw technique, STAD, Reading skill

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of teachers in increasing student motivation at SMAN 2 TOLITOLI during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach with observation, interview and documentation procedures. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 TOLITOLI, which is located on Students  street of 5 Tambun Village, Baolan District. The subjects of this study were one school principal, two educators at SMAN 2 TOLITOLI and two students at SMAN 2 TOLITOLI. The results showed that: the role of teachers at SMAN 2 TOLITOLI in increasing student learning motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic has played a role, can be seen through varied and interesting learning activities by utilizing learning media and selecting the right method so that student achievement is maintained and students will remain confident to pursue the goals you want to achieve. Through interesting learning activities and the awarding given based on rankings will spur student motivation to study hard. Not only in the process of learning the role of teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic, it leads to providing motivation to maintain a good environment to avoid the COVID-19 virus.Keywords :Student Learning Motivation, The Role of Teachers

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out whether the Word Wall and Flash Card media can increase students’ vocabulary of eighth grade students at SMPN 5 Tolitoli. The design of this research was true-experimental research. The sample of this research is consisted of 38 students’ is VIII A 19 and VIII B 19, which using random sampling. The data obtained from pre-test and post-test. In the class Word Wall post-test, it found that the mean score of the students is 73,26  was higher than pre-test 52,84 And the mean score of the class Flash Card in post-test is 72,00  was higher than pre-test 40,11. The testing hypothesis showed that the value of t-count was lowest than t-table (0,269<2.028). In Conclusion, there was no significant difference whether the of word wall and flash card in increasing students’ vocabulary at SMPN 5 Tolitoli. Key words: Compare, Word wall, Flash card, Vocabulary

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the significant difference between scaffolding technique and guided writing improving students’ writing ability at the ninth grade of SMPN 5 Tolitoli. It was a true-experimental research. It was conducted at ninth grade of SMP Negeri 5 Tolitoli. The researcher gave a pre-test to measure the students’ previous ability in writing. After gave treatment scaffolding technique and guided writing, the researcher gave post-test to the students. In analyze the data collection the researcher use SPSS 21 program. Based on data analysis showed that, there was significant effect of scaffolding technique and guided writing in students’ writing ability. The mean score of post test in scaffolding technique (84,05) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (52,00). And the mean score of post-test in guided writing (86,60) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (52,05). Although, the improvement in  guided writing was higher than scaffolding technique  but the testing of hypothesis showed that the value of tcount was lower than ttable (-0,755≤2.024). Hence, there was no a significance difference of students’ achievement score between who were thought scaffolding technique and guided writing at ninth the grade of SMPN 5 Tolitoli.Keywords: Comparative, scaffolding technique, guided writing, writing ability.

Abstract

The current research is entitled Relationship between Emotional Intelligence, Spiritual Intelligence in Students’ Academic Achievement. The objective of this research which were: 1) is there any significant correlations between Spiritual Intelligence and Emotional Intelligence simultaneously students in academic achievement. 2) Which one the aspects that influence spiritual intelligence and emotional Intelligence in academic achievement. This sample was taken simple purposive sampling. Instruments of this study used questionnaires and documentation. This study used a quantitative descriptive method. To know the answer hypothesis the researcher used analysis of multiple correlations. Based on the analysis quantitative descriptive showed that sig F change = 0.177, it means that the correlation between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence with simultaneously to the students' academic achievement is negligible refers to the table interpretation by Sugiyono (2012) who stated that the coefficient interval between 0,00-0,199 the qualification is negligible. The result of the formula about the significant multiple correlations between emotional and spiritual intelligence in students' academic achievement is = 1.8701652319935. Because the total significance is = 1.8701652319935 > 0,05, it concludes if there was no significant correlation between emotional and spiritual intelligence in students' academic achievement.Keywords: Correlation, Emotional Intelligence, Spiritual Intelligence.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the significant difference between Clustering technique and Mind Mapping technique in improving students’ writing ability at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Tolitoli. It is a true-experimental research. It was conducted at eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Tolitoli. The researcher gave a pre-test to measure the students’ previous ability in writing. Then, a post-test was to find out the students’ writing ability after given treatment which is the application of clustering and mind mapping technique. The researcher used SPSS 21 program to analyze the data collection. The result of data analysis showed that clustering technique and mind mapping technique gave a significance effect to the students in writing ability. The mean score of post test in mind mapping technique (71,00) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (32,33). And the mean score of post-test in clustering technique (68,10) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (34,76). Although, the improvement in mind mapping technique was more effective than clustering technique  but the testing of hypothesis showed that the value of tcount was lower than ttable (0,717≤2,021). Hence, there was no a significance difference in writing achievement score between students were taught to using clustering technique and mind mapping technique at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Tolitoli.Key words: Comparative, mind mapping technique, clustering technique, writing ability.
