Abstract

Transmission lines are an important part of a power system. Transmission lines have high power transmission capacity and they are prone to faults of larger magnitudes. Various faults occur in transmission lines. Therefore, protection relays are necessary to protect transmission lines. The purpose of protection system is to interrupt the faulty section from the healthy section because the fault currents may damage the electrical equipments. One of the protection relays is distance relay and it is mainly used in transmission line. Sometimes these relay are used for backup protection. Distance relays for determining the impedance need the voltage and current. Transmission lines are typically protected by distance protection relay. Distance relays are considered of high speed class and can provide transmission lines. Nowadays, numerical distance relays have been used instead of using electromechanical and static distance relays. The proposed model was verified under different tests such as single line to ground (L-G) fault, double line to ground (L-L-G) fault, line to line (L-L) fault and three phase (L-L-L) fault. SimPower System was used for modelling and simulation of distance relay, transmission lines and faults. The simulation results were obtained from MATLAB software shows the feasibility of analysis of transmission line protection with mho type distance relay for single line to ground fault, double line to ground fault, line to line fault and three phase fault at different location of transmission lines. The difficulties understanding on operation of distance relay can be cleared by using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Keywords: distance relay, double line to ground (L-L-G), line to line fault (L-L), MATLAB/SIMULINK, single line to ground fault (L-G), three phase fault (L-L-L).

Abstract

Oil insulation is one of the insulation medium types commonly used in high voltage apparatus. This insulation is to separate between the conductive part and non-conductive part. However, oil insulation can experience decreasing of dielectric strength. It may be caused by the presence of solid particles. Therefore, the testing was conducted to obtain the effect of solid particles to characteristics of partial discharge and breakdown voltage of oil insulation. The results generally proved that the existence of solid particles can reduce the breakdown voltage value of oil insulation. In addition, the solid particles led to two types of corona on oil insulation, namely positive and negative corona. Keywords: oil insulation; partial discharge; breakdown voltage; corona; particle shape; particle total.

Abstract

This study presents a green-timing optimization simulation on a 3-lane traffic light to reduce the density of the vehicle queue (density) in each lane. The method used in green-timing optimization is a combination of background subtraction and fuzzy logic control. Background subtraction functions as density extractor and fuzzy logic control as the green-timing controller itself. Green-timing optimization simulations in this study show a decrease in waiting time in each cycle of timing and a decrease in traffic-density of 44% -45% compared to a fixed-time timing system. Keywords: background substraction, fuzzy, green-timing, logic control, traffic light.

Abstract

The importance of socialization about alternative energy that can be used for daily needs, for example from the simplest such as lighting at home, although not permanent but is very useful in the event of a sudden power outage. The high price of electricity makes small communities have to think twice as much to regulate daily expenditure needs so as to encourage to find alternative energy that can produce electricity that is environmentally friendly. Seeing the large number of detergent products in Indonesia, it inspires to process the waste from laundry clothes or other objects and even the detergent water itself, because so far the used laundry waste is thrown away so that it can pollute the environment. The purpose of this study is to reduce the effect of environmental pollution due to used laundry waste which is used as an alternative energy source to turn on lighting lamps at home or even on the road. The method used in this research is a chemical or electrolysis reaction involving zinc and carbon as well as the content in detergent washing water. From several experiments conducted for 3 detergents with several parameters, namely the amount of mass and water volume of 120 ml. From the experiment the voltage is 1 volt with a current of 2 mA for detergent Rinso, for DAIA detergent the voltage is 0.7 and current is 0.56 mA, and the experiments tested on SOKLIN produce a voltage of 0.8 volt and a current of 1 mA. Whereas the testing which was carried out randomly with a volume of 1200 ml water produced a voltage of 0.547 v with a large current of 0.006 mA. This proves that detergent waste can be utilized as a renewable energy although it still requires further research but this can ease the burden on the community to pay for electricity from PLN and in the subsequent development independent power plants are built in each house so that the community can save on electricity. Keywords: alternative energy, detergent, electricity.

Abstract

Object extraction is one of the important and chal-lenging tasks in the computer vision and/or robotics ? elds. This task is to extract the object from the scene using anypossible cues. The scenario discussed in this study was the objectextraction which considering the Space of Interest (SOI), i.e.,the three dimensional area where the object probably existed. To complete such task, the object extraction method based onthe probabilistic maps of multiple cues was proposed. Thanksto the Kinect V2 sensor, multiple cues such as color, depth, andnear-infrared information can be acquired simultaneously. TheSOI was modeled by a simple probabilistic model by consideringthe geometry of the possible objects and the reachability of thesystem acquired from depth information. To model the color andnear-infrared information, a Gaussian mixture models (GMM)was used. All of the models were combined to generate theprobabilistic maps that were used to extract the object fromthe scene. To validate the proposed object extraction, severalexperiments were conducted to investigate the best combinationof the cues used in this study. Keywords: color information, depth information, near-infrared information, object extraction, probabilistic maps.
