Abstract

Academic performance disparities among the gender of students are the cause of concern. Numerous explanations for academic performance disparities, especially in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Arts subjects between male and female students, are established in many countries. However, similar studies in Bhutan, especially at the tertiary education level, are scant. Therefore, this study mainly assessed i) students’ perception of STEM and Arts subjects, ii) compared male and female academic performance in STEM and Arts subjects, and iii) studied students' perception of the factors affecting their academic performance. Data were collected from 265 students of four constituent colleges (two Science and Arts colleges each) of the Royal University of Bhutan using semi-structured questionnaires. A multistage sampling (comprising a mixture of purposive and random) was employed. The research used a quantitative approach with descriptive and inferential statistics (Chi-square, t-tests, and binary logistic regressions). The result showed no significant association between students’ gender and their choice of subjects. At Science colleges, female students outperformed male students. In contrast, there were no significant differences in the performance of male and female students at Arts Colleges. Overall, females (71.63 ± 6.35) outperform male (69.57 ± 7.80) students. Hence, there are no stereotypes in STEM and Arts subjects among Bhutanese undergraduate students. However, future research could include parents and lecturers to gather their perspectives on STEM and Arts subjects. Variables, including study hours, communication skills, and Bhutanese Educational Policies, should also be thoroughly investigated as factors affecting students' academic performance

Sample selection uses the method of sampling units by selectively distinguishing the units to be analyzed based on the scope of the research problem. Data analysis using interpretive approaches: Reducing data to manageable representations: summarizing or simplifying data; inferring contextual phenomena: relying on analytical constructs or models of the chosen context as warrants; Narrating the answers to content analysts’ questions amount to make the result comprehensible to others. Based on the study results, the learning experience is determined based on the end goal of learning. Discuss in-depth the concept of learning the Indonesian language and literature in elementary schools based on multiliterate, integrative, and differentiated learning concepts.

A stratified random sampling procedure was used to gather pertinent data from 195 participants. Descriptive measures, correlation analysis, and binary logit regression analysis were used to examine the socio-demographic data and the level of knowledge and attitude in regards to the faculties’ decision to purchase life insurance. Results showed that educational attainment and knowledge on life insurance significantly influence the purchase of life insurance. Furthermore, purchase on life insurance increases as the faculty becomes more knowledgeable about the benefits of having life insurance coverage. Abstract

The telecommunication industry in Bangladesh, with the global trends, has been considerably grown up during the last two decades. At the end of December 2020, the number of cellular phone subscribers reached 170.137 million under four operators in the country. The telecommunication industry has been experiencing increased competition because the government has introduced uniform call rates for all operators and launched mobile number portability (MNP) in 2018, resulting in an easy switching for a customer to other operators. This situation has originated a great challenge for the cellular service providers in Bangladesh to retain the existing customers, especially the young subscribers who have more switching trends. The hyper-competition in the industry also induced mobile operators to work hard to attract new customers and retain the existing ones. The paper, therefore, aims to find out the determinants of young customer retention in the cellular industry of Bangladesh. This study is exploratory based on primary data collected from 415 young cellular phone users of the age of below 40 years in the two largest cities (Dhaka and Chittagong) in Bangladesh. The study examined eight determining factors of customer retention using the statistical tools: mean and standard deviation. The study found that price perception, customer satisfaction, switching barriers, and brand image are the strongest customer retention determinants. This study's findings have important implications for cellular phone operators to tailor their services and strategic priorities for maximizing customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention to gain market growth and higher returns.

Dynamic ensemble method that combines various predictive models to improve the accuracy of forecasts. The results showed that the model has a high level of accuracy with a small error value, which is below 1.5% for MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error), and an average RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of 5%. This suggests that investors could reduce their long-term investment risk by stealing the pandemic by using this model. In addition, these results are committed to being used as a basis for policy and decision-making for investors

Abstract

Evaluation of the different characteristics of a school leader in the Philippines is a bit limited in educational literature. Hence, this study focus on assessing the personal attributes, traits, and competencies of school leaders in the Hindang District, Leyte Division, Philippines to elucidate its nature and promote new policy in improving the educational system. This study employed a cross-sectional data gathering from a complete enumeration of teachers in the district. Mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation were computed in describing the survey data, and Spearman rho correlation was utilized in determining the association between variables. Results showed that school leaders are rated as "very satisfactory" concerning their "personal attributes", "traits", "result-focus", "self-orientation", "innovation", "leading people", "people performance and management", and "people development" characteristics. School leaders are also rated as "outstanding" in terms of their competencies such as "self-management", "professionalism and ethics", and "teamwork." The correlation matrix revealed that all the characteristics of a school leader are positively correlated (strong) to each other at a 1% level of significance. Hence, it is concluded that each character is a very important asset for a school leader in developing the school. This implies that to attain continuous progress in a school, the qualification in hiring a school leader must focus on personal attributes, traits, and competencies, not on the curriculum knowledge. Furthermore, a school leader must undergo seminars and training that deal with lead management and innovative ideas to become globally competitive leaders.

Abstract

Innovative managerial and social changes, such as sustainable marketing practices considerably improve organizational performance. Although the RMG sector of Bangladesh is widely known to global consumers through the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tagline, effective implementation of sustainable marketing in the country has been proven as a difficult task. This research examines the current state and implications of sustainable marketing in the RMG sector of Bangladesh. Primary data were collected from 20 RMG factories located in Dhaka and Gazipur that were selected using convenience sampling techniques and 120 officials were selected using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using the content analysis technique where the theoretical framework was informed by the theory of planned behavior. The research shows that knowledge about sustainable marketing of most factories is limited and often they are not interested in practicing it. It also evidences that RMG manufacturers have been late in emphasizing and adopting sustainable marketing practices. They have not yet started showing concerns in this respect. Lack of supporting information systems often impedes the implementation of sustainable marketing practices. Legal requirements and the mandatory rule for sharing information regarding sustainable marketing work as the main motivations to adopt sustainable marketing practices.
