Abstract

Adsorbent is an adsorption that is used to absorb various pollutants. Adsorbents can be used from natural materials. Natural ingredients that can be used are oil palm empty bunches. Oil palm empty bunches are a carbon-rich material that is getting new research interest in adsorption because of its abundance and properties. Oil palm empty bunches contain carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur, lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose. Oil palm empty bunches are used as adsorbent for water saturation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Si/Al molar ratio and the number of Na2EDTA additions on the purity and crystallinity levels of the synthesized zeolite X. zeolite X was synthesized by hydrothermal method at 70°C and 120°C for 3 and 6 hours, respectively. In the synthesis of zeolite X used boiler ash and aluminum foil waste. The results of characterization using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) showed that the level of purity and crystallinity of the synthesized zeolite X was influenced by the variation of Si/Al molar rasio and amount of Na2EDTA addition. The zeolite with the best quality was obtained from the synthesis with a Si/Al molar ratio of 1.6 and the amount of Na2EDTA added as much as 3.0 g. The synthesized zeolite X has a purity level of 75% and a degree of crystallinity with a total intensity of 845.

Abstract

Research on the Determination of Viscosity Mooney From Rubber by Fillers Charcoal has been done. Each latex was added into the coconut shell charcoal  ( particle size 80 mesh ) were 36 , 38 , 40 , 42, and 44 gram. Then the latex is coagulated with formic acid in pH 4.7. Formic acid is used as a control for the rubber crumple without the addition of coconut shell. Research carried out by measuring the quality of rubber Money Viscosity. From the results of research it turns out that the value of the viscosity of the money obtained by the addition of charcoal to the rubber in the latex is 72.5 ; 74 ; 75.5 ; 77 ; and 75. It can be seen that the value of the best rubber Mooney viscosity of 75 , so the rubber with medium Mooney viscosity value able to provide a meeting point between the energy efficient with superior physical properties .

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of adding VCO on glucose levels in brown rice that cooked by rice cooker and steamer. Sample preparation is done by adding VCO to brown rice and cooking simultaneously. The samples were measured for their glucose levels by adding phenol and sulfuric acid to the sample and then measuring their absorbance using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The results showed that the addition of VCO affected glucose levels in brown rice. The highest level of glucose in brown rice was 32,178 ppm without the addition of VCO and the lowest level was 0.946 ppm with the addition of 5% VCO. Meanwhile, the highest level of glucose in brown rice in a steamer was 22,268 ppm without the addition of VCO and the lowest was 0,768 ppm with the addition of 5% VCO.

Abstract

Development of the industry, especially the palm oil mill industry, it will have an impact with tangible evidence that makes the environment polluted. Heavy metals will be produced from the palm oil mill industry and will pollute the environment. Zn metal is one of the heavy metal waste produced from the mustard coconut factory industry. Zn heavy metal waste will be very dangerous if it exceeds a predetermined level and will have an impact on humans, animals and the environment. One effort to reduce heavy metals using the adsorption method. Adsorption has advantages over a variety of other methods. Adsorban that is used from materials found in nature and the resulting waste can be used as an adsorbent. The type and type of adsorbent greatly affect the pH adsorption level of the Zn metal solution.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to restructuring its acid fatty oils castor result of dehydration with coconut oil through the process interesterification to produce cocoa butter substitute (CBS). Coconut oil is obtained from coconut milk by heating it slowly over low heat. The resulting coconut oil has a FFA is 1.667%, a peroxide is 10.229 MekO2 / Kg and an iodine is 7,7080 gI2/100g, which meets the second quality standard according to SNI 01-3741-2002. The restructuring was carried out by interesterification of dehydrated castor oil with coconut oil with a ratio (50:50); (60:40); (70:30); (80:20) dan(90:10)with a NaOCH3 catalyst. The results showed that the interesterification of dehydrated castor oil with coconut oil with a ratio (50:50) was the most optimal ratio with a melting point of 33 oC  which corresponds to cocoa oil (32 oC-35 oC) and contain omega-6 fats (linoleic acid).

Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the effect of extract of the sambung nyawa (Gynura procumbens) leaf on albumin and globulin concentration of rats blood serum. The research method is experimental used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that consists of 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment of this research was induced rats with E. coli then given 0.5 mL of sambung nyawa leaf extract with doses 0.0 mg/kgBW; 300 mg/kgBW; and 600 mg/kgBW. The data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance. The results showed that the giving extract of the sambung nyawa leaves gives effect on albumin and globulin concentration of rats blood serum. Giving sambung nyawa leaf extract at dose 0.00 mg/kgBW; 300 mg/kgBW; and 600 mg/kgBW to rats gave the average of albumin and globulin concentration in a row in each treatment is 486 g/dL; 2.632 g/dL; 4.23 g/dL and 5.82 g/dL; 6.03 g/dL; 4.16 g/dL.

Abstract

The effect of various types of mineral acids in activating the silica of volcanic ash of Mount Sinabung has been carried out. The use of various types of mineral acids is aimed at reducing impurities in the form of metals contained in the ash so that it can increase the SiO2 content in the ash. In the treatment, volcanic ash is prepared beforehand by grinding and sieving with a 200 mesh sieve. The sieved ash was then added with mineral acids, namely HCl, HNO3 and concentrated H2SO4 and heated at 100oC for 2 hours. After that, it was neutralized with distilled water and in an oven at 120oC for 6 hours and characterized using XRF to determine the impurities that had been lost. Based on the results obtained using XRF characteristics, the SiO2 content of volcanic ash activated with HCl was 80,23%, HNO3 was 77,23% and H2SO4 was 76,89%. This shows that activation using HCl is more optimal than using HNO3 and H2SO4.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of oil quality that is used repeatedly by frying chicken with the SNI. Bulk oil is used for frying the chicken with 11 frying repetitions. Repetition of oil before frying, repeat 1 time frying up to 10 frying times. Then the oil is tested for water content, Free Fatty Acid (FFA), peroxide value and iodine value. From this study, the quality of cooking oil was obtained for the range of: water content 0.03- 1.04%(w/w), Free Fatty Acids (FFA) 0.39-1.01%(w/w), peroxide value 5,99-18,465 mekO2/kg, iodine value 3.255-3.55 gI2/100g oil. Based on the various tests, the water content up to the oil from frying 3, Free Fatty Acid to oil from frying 3, the peroxide value to frying oil 4 still meets the SNI 01-3741-2013 oil quality standard. And in the iodine value test, all repeated frying results still meet the SNI 01-3741-2013 oil quality standard.
