Palmyra Fiber as Additional Materials on Solid Concrete Brick of Aggregate

The use of waste as an additional material on the building work was increasingly actively developed, such as straw, styrofoam, bagasse, cow manure. The key drivers of the use of waste is the potential for waste is increasing, due to the depletion of non-renewable resources. Papyrus rod diameter 60 cm, length 30 meters, has a volume of 5,652m3 as well as the edges of the Rods that can be used for construction with a thickness of 3 cm has a volume 0,942m3, Pith and fiber volume content of the stem 4,71m3/rod, then in one rod, there are 2 to 3 bunches each fruit bunches yield as much as 20 to 30 items for one harvest, by weight of fruit fiber 101.2 gram / fruit, Fiber characteristics are round and smooth is expected to reduce cracks in solid concrete brick and also can reduce the use of sand. This study aims to determine the compressive strength of the composition of the additional material of Rods fiber content and Fiber of palmyra fruit with a percentage 3%, 6% and 9%, mixing ratio; 1 cement and 5 sand in the manufacture of solid concrete brick. Rods fiber content used the average Ø1,031mm with a tensile strength of single fiber 39,305N / cm and fruit fiber to an average value Ø0,40mm with a tensile strength of single fiber 33,691N / cm. Making test specimen with a length of 20cm, width 10cm and thick 8cm. The test results of compressive strength after 14 days with the lowest value at 3% of additional material combination of fiber content of 6% fiber stem and fruit by 70,384Kg/cm²with a water content of 15,254% In weight position 2,935Kg as well as the highest value on the combination of additional material 0% rods fiber content and 3% fruit fiber by 98,821Kg/cm² with a water content of 15,031% In weight position 3,058Kg. While N (without additional material) with a compressive strength below the average id 63,704Kg/cm2 with water content of 10,167 in weight position 3,072Kg. Research result of solid concrete brick with additional material of rods fiber content and palmyra fruit fiber was included on the type B70, the average value of the compressive strength of 78.57 Kg / cm² (SNI-03-1348-1989) with a water content of <25%.

Abstract

The number one function of governments anywhere in the world is to achieve public interest. Public interest and social interactions are so vast, complex and dynamic that; a government can not effectively administer all aspects by itself. Plainly put, whenever citizens require or request for a service from government, it is an implicit request for government to set up an institution to administer the discharge or provision of that service. Owing to this, institutions are set up to aid in the management of the different facets of public service. These institutions and their officials are then conferred power to effectively perform their functions. This power is Discretionary Power. The paper examines discretionary power from various angles and especially investigates the lingering question of how this power should be controlled to prevent abuse. Abstract

The study developed, validated, and standardised a statistical literacy test for university undergraduates in Cross River State, Nigeria. Five research questions were raised to guide this study. The study adopted an instrumentation design. A stratified sampling technique was used to select a total of 753 respondents from a population of 4705 students. Three instruments were used to collect data: the Statistical Literacy Test (SLT), the Statistical Reasoning Test (SRT), and the Statistical Anxiety Test (SAT). Descriptive statistics (means and simple percentages), correlational analysis, and the factor analytical technique were used to analyse the data collected. The result showed that only 25 items survived the last item assessment. The instrument was found to have strong construct validity as the items in the correlation matrix were all positively correlated. The statistical literacy scale showed convergence with statistical reasoning but diverged with statistical anxiety. The reliability of the instrument was found to be high as the coefficients of the scale were 0.81, 0.77, and 0.78 respectively, and it was adjudged reliable. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that the instrument was valid and reliable. Thus, it was recommended that students' skills in statistics should not just be on the computational aspect but on the utilisation of statistical knowledge. Statistics lecturers should emphasise statistical literacy to help students reason and think statistically, and the instrument should be widely distributed for use by researchers and psychometricians. Abstract

The study examined Students Variables and the development of employability mastery on undergraduates Business Education Students in Federal Universities in Southern Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were developed to direct the investigation in order to fulfil the study's objectives. For the study, a survey research design was used. 440 students in their final year of business study made up the population. Data were gathered using a 20-item survey called the "Students Variables and the Development of Employability Mastery' Scale" (SVDEM). Using the Cronbach Alpha statistical method, the instrument's internal consistency was determined, and the result was a 0.95 overall reliability coefficient. In order to analyze the data and provide answers to the study questions, mean (X) and standard deviation (SD) were used. The independent t-test was used to evaluate the null hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. The findings from data analysis showed that students’ variables significantly influenced the development of employability mastery with High Influence (HI). While the test of hypotheses revealed that, there is no significant difference in the mean rating of the positive and negative respondents on the influence of students’ attitudes and students’ interest in the development of employability mastery. Based on the study's findings, it was suggested, among other things, that school management should offer opportunities to spark students' interest in vocational courses that will improve their growth of employability mastery before graduation. Abstract

Terms like child abuse, child labour, street children, child trafficking, and child marriage underscore the vulnerability of children worldwide, and underpin the imperative of affording them holistic care. Such services must address the underlying factors that elevate their vulnerability as is consistent with the person-in-environment focus of social work. Given our historical commitments and top-notch values, the social work profession, more than any other, is most concerned with the well-being of children. Yet, not much is known of our professional action in Africa, a region near the pyramid's pinnacle in child rights violation. This article presents the findings of a qualitative study, involving five voluntary organizations, which explored the nature of social work services to vulnerable children. Drawing on a constructivist framework, semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather data in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria, and the results were then thematically analyzed. Findings indicate that social work services for vulnerable children require strengthening, since it does not address the root causes that exacerbate their vulnerability. Abstract

This paper focuses on Sociological Perspective on the impact of technology on airport management, with focus on Nigeria. Its general aim is to ascertain the impact technology has on airport management; in particular: 1). To find out the implications advances in technology has on airport security management, 2). ascertain the implications of advances in technology on job retention for airport workers, 3). examine the impact of technology on airport users'experience, and 4) identify policy-based recommendations for a way forward. To achieve these objectives, the paper employed qualitative descriptive method; the use of tabulation, and graphic illustration in its analysis. For the sake of proper understanding, and with the aid of extrapolations, a Sociological theory, 'Functionalism', was adopted as the theoretical framework. In its expected outcomes, the study revealed the type of relationship between the two variables (technology and airport management), and the implications for Nigeria as a whole, and airport stakeholders in particular. A few of the findings include: technology has both positive and negative impact in Nigeria's airport management processes; it assures airport users'advantage, as well portends risk; it aids airport workers' workflow convenience, as well portends future job loss, etc. The paper therefore recommends, 1. Nigerian government should embrace the global advances in airport technology but at the same time brace up for its discontents; 2. Airport users should be technology-compliant to enable them appropriate the advantages of new airport technologies and manage its discontents as well; inter alia . Abstract

The study was premised on factors that influence secondary school students’ participation in drug and substance abuse activities. In this context for data generation, analysis, and discussion, was guided by a framework comprised of the phenomenology and qualitative approach. For this study thirty students and six class teachers from one secondary school in Zimbabwe were purposively and conveniently sampled as sources of information for the issue under investigation respectively. Document analysis, focus group discussion, and personal interview were employed to generate data, which was later analyzed according to emerging themes. From the study, it was revealed that secondary school students were abusing a variety of drugs, and substances such as ganja cakes, among others. It was also noted that students at the secondary school under investigation were driven into drug and substance abuse activities due to peer pressure among others. With the aim to mitigate prevalence of drug and substance abuse amongst the students at selected secondary schools, it was advocated that peer counseling, establishing rehabilitation centers, the introduction of stiff disciplinary measures, and awareness campaigns. Therefore, it can be concluded that secondary school students’ participation in drug and substance abuse, within the school premises was largely influenced by multiple factors. It is in this context that the researchers recommend that in selected secondary school coaching of students secondary school students, teachers, and parents/guardians on the execution of peer counseling strategy to ease off secondary school students' participation in anti-social demeanors needs be reinforced. Abstract

This research looked at the hurdles to Iran's growth plans in the modern world political economy. The data for this study was gathered from secondary sources such as textbooks, magazine articles, and online sources, and the data was analysed using content analysis. According to this study, Iran has been plagued by violent strife for many years. Furthermore, the mistaken economic policies of earlier Iranian leaders, as well as a reluctance to open the economy to international investors, have contributed to the country's economic stagnation throughout the years. Finally, this study suggests, among other things, that a total shutdown of the Iranian economy in the current global economy will continue to deprive Iran of the myriad economic gains associated with globalisation. Abstract

This study examined the influence of forensic accounting techniques on fraud prevention in tertiary institutions in Cross River State, Nigeria. The study's methodology was a survey research design. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were developed in order to fulfill the study's objectives. Due to the manageable size of the population, all 152 auditors in bursary department participated in the study. A questionnaire titled “Forensic Accounting Techniques on Fraud Prevention” (FATFP) with a four-point rating scale was used for data collection. Two specialists in accounting department and one expert in measurement and evaluation validated the instrument. The Cronbach's alpha method was used to calculate the overall reliability coefficient of the instrument, which is.79. The standard deviation and mean were used to answer the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested using an independent t-test at the.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that computer-assisted audit techniques and interview audit techniques had a significant influence on fraud prevention at tertiary institutions. Among other things, it was recommended that, government should arm auditors with information and communication tools to aid auditing procedures for fraud prevention. Once again, auditors should use contemporary interview approaches, including watching candidates during interviews, using recording equipment, and installing CCTV cameras strategically placed to capture correct data that will aid in stopping fraudulent operations in Nigerian educational institutions, particularly in Cross River State, Nigeria. Abstract

This study is an exploration of the melancholic relationship to appearance reflected in Amadu Maddy’s “No Past No Present No Future”. To this end, the researcher uses textual analysis and descriptive criticism to unravel the causes and consequences of melancholic relationship to appearance. The theory of racial melancholia which is dominantly informed by Fanonian approach to the psychology of racism is used to account for the intra-psychic forces which operate within the melancholic characters in the subject novel. As the finding discloses, Amadu’s novel saw at close range that the immediate postcolonial world is dominated by two groups of people: some hermitized white souls whose mindset is stuck in more traditional forms of biological, and pseudo-scientific racism, and those black people with “black skin and white masks.”. Both exist in a borrowed time, unable to come to terms with the psychological states upon which their conscious and unconscious thoughts are hanging, have long lost wellness. The former see their articles of racial superiority as a self-evident truth; the latter plunge into a psychic process whereby the loss of belonging becomes the cause of ongoing trauma, realizing that they belong nowhere, that they must live in a world that would never give recognition to their existence. Abstract

Teachers are motivated by a variety of variables while they carry out their employment. However, the expected impact on teacher motivation has not been achieved as a result of the economic reasons. Numerous studies have demonstrated that social elements, such as satisfying interpersonal interactions, can spur people to pursue and accomplish a goal. But there has been a lot of silence over how this varies by gender. This made it necessary to conduct research to determine how interpersonal interactions (IR), specifically those between teachers and students, teachers and other teachers, and teachers and heads of schools in Ghana's Upper East Region (UER), affected teachers' motivation. A cross-sectional survey study design was used, and the data collection process used a mixed technique approach. Teachers at pre-tertiary institutions in UER in Ghana are the target demographic. 831 female and 1,719 male instructors from the area made up the sample. The data was gathered using a teacher motivation scale comprising 4 Likert scale questions and an interview schedule for focus group discussions. The findings demonstrated that interpersonal interactions at school (TP, TT, and TH) influence how instructors in pre-tertiary institutions in Ghana's Upper East Region (UER) carry out their duties, with TT offering the greatest incentive and TH the least. Although IR generally has no association with gender, Pearson's chi-square study revealed that TT as a teacher motivator is associated to gender. To encourage male and female teachers to fulfil their jobs, it is important to foster positive interpersonal interactions at pre-tertiary institutions. Being able to establish close relationships with one's co-workers is key to enjoying one's job as a teacher.
