Abstract

This research is entitled Liberal Feminist Values As Reflected In Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. This novel described a woman who broke her wedding because she wants to feel the love. Through Anna Karenina, she fought for her rights to express her opinion to her husband. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of the main character and feminist characteristics of the main character in the novel. Qualitative method is applied in this research. The main data source in this study is Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina and to complete the data source, this research also uses other books, reviews of novels, films and sources from the internet. The method of data analysis in this study is qualitative method. In this study, a feminist approach from Rosamarie Tong and "Liberal Feminists" from Betty Friedan are employed in this research. The researcher also analyzed the main characters by describing their characteristics using the theory from M.J. Murphy. Based on the analysis, the results of this study have produced several conclusions. First, character of Anna Karenina descriptions by people around her in some characterization there are beautiful, kind, loving, mysterious and negative thinking. Second, Anna Karenina struggle her opinion in public especially her husband. She wants to express and defending her opinion. However, seen from liberal feminism perspective the main character show direct resistence with maintains her opinion and ignore opinion from her husband.

Abstract

Digital transformation is a change in the way work is handled by using information technology to gain efficiency and effectiveness. Since April 2011 the government has echoed Indonesia 4.0, through the ministry of the industry it has made Indonesia 4.0 a Roadmap that has been integrated as the implementation of many strategies in entering the industrial era 4.0. The public relations profession has become a target for the era of technological disruption 4.0 which is capable of producing big data, analytic data, artificial intelligence, internet of things (IoT) which exponentially boosts the quality and effectiveness of various public relations functions. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to conduct in-depth interviews with predetermined respondents. This type of research uses field research, namely research that goes to the field to make observations about a phenomenon in a scientific situation. The data were obtained from two sources including one Pertamina MOR I Medan worker and one Head of BPC Perhumas Medan. The data analysis technique used is data reduction which is the process of selecting, focusing on simplification, and transforming data that arise from written records and research locations. Based on the research results obtained through interviews with resource persons, human performance opportunities in the public relations profession still have a good and exciting future for the world to be disrupted because this era will become rivals for public relations practitioners to be more advanced. Because artificial intelligence (AI) can support and facilitate public relations practitioners in carrying out their duties.

Abstract

In this undergraduate thesis, the writer discusses short story Madam Butterfly written by John Luther Long. This study is aimed: (1) to describe the Geisha social life condition in Japanese society as reflected in Madame Butterfly (2) to describe the social class in Japanese society in 1903s as reflected in Madam Butterfly. In doing this research, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method which refers to description of things, characters, meaning and symbols. There are two types of data in this study.The findings of the research show that Geisha in Japan through Cho Cho San the main character in Madame Butterfly was a reflection of Geisha’s life condition in Japanese society. The writer conclude that Social condition of Geisha in Japan in 1930s are an entertainer because they are has been train for accompany all of the guests. Serve the drink, singing, dancing and playing music instrument were the Geisha’s job while accompany the guest. The guest also did some flirting to the Geisha. In 1930s American missionary and American Navy enter Japan for some mission, there are also American people who married Japanese girl. Beside the Geisha social life condition, there are two class in Japanese society that exist in 1903s Kazoku (Nobleman) and Heinin (Proletar). The social class in Japan in that time is very contrast between the Nobleman and Ploretar. Madam Butterfly include to high class people because of she married to a foreigner because according to Japanese, if they married a foreigner it can rise their social status.

Abstract

Bulan Desember 2019 media di Indonesia diramaikan dengan pemberitaan wabah virus Covid - 19. Edukasi dan pencegahan wabah ini menjadi fokus yang diberitakan oleh media. Pada Bulan Maret 2020 pemberitaan tentang virus Covid - 19 lebih masif lagi karena sudah masuk di Indonesia. Pro kontra pun terjadi, seperti kontroversi transparansi identitas korban Covid - 19 dan kebijakan pemerintah dalam menangani kasus Covid - 19. Banyak pihak menilai pemerintah tidak siap dalam upaya penanganan kasus Covid - 19. Kesan tersebut tidak lepas dari peran media dalam membingkai berita tersebut. Salah satu media yang memberitakan Covid - 19 adalah koran.tempo.co. Media online ini melihat polemik yang terjadi di pemerintah dalam mengambil kebijakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui analisis framing media online koran.tempo.co dalam pemberitaan tentang kebijakan pemerintah dalam menangani kasus Covid - 19 di Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah analisis framingmodel Robert N Entman dengan elemen - elemen analisis yaitu define problem, diagnose causes, make moral judgement, dan treatment recommendation. Dengan empat elemen ini akan diketahui pembingkaian berita yang dilakukan oleh media. Media online koran.tempo.co membingkai sikap keraguan pemerintah dalam menangani kasus Covid - 19. Karena tidak ada kesiapan setiap kebijakan yang dibuat pemerintah terkesan tidak menemukan keberhasilan.

Abstract

The Last Song written by Nicholas Sparks is a novel that tells about family conflict that begins from the divorce between the parents and involves their children. The children must face the reality about their parents’ divorce when they are at the age of ten and seventeen. Not only for their children, but the divorce also brings an impact to the main male character, Steve Miller, in this novel. There is misunderstanding at the beginning in children’s comprehension about the causes of the divorce in their family. But after they know, especially the daughter, everything has changed between the main male character and his children. The aims of this study are to analyze the cause of the divorce and the impact of divorce on male male character, Steve Miller, as reflected in Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song. The writer uses psychological approach to analyse the cause and the impact of the divorce on the main male character, Steve Miller, as reflected in Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song. The writer also uses qualitative research method. The primary data are taken from the copy of novel The Last Song (2010) in the form quotation, phrase, and clauses or in the form of sentences that are related to the points discussed in this research. While, the secondary data are taken from all the analysis and criticism related to the novel. This secondary data of this research are also taken from some library documents and internet sources. The result of this study shows that the cause of the divorce in Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song is because the male main character’s wife had affair with the stranger that he does not know before. It makes the communication with his wife is rarely done. It also involves their children and makes the relationship between father and daughter is broken. Not only to the relationship between the family members, but this divorce also give effects to the main character’s psychological and physical states.

Abstract

PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero) is a corporation engaged in the maritime and port sector under the auspices of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) headquartered in Belawan, North Sumatra. As a corporation, of course, a campaign is required to inform the business being run so that it is more widely known by the public. As a form of public relations campaign and an effort to socialize its business, Pelindo 1 offers Port Visit activities as a means of learning about the world of ports. This research was conducted to find out how PT Pelindo 1's Public Relations Campaign Strategy in Disseminating its Port Business through the Port Visit program. In this research, it focuses on Port Visit activities with PERHUMAS Muda Medan which was held on February 28, 2020. The type of research that the writer does is descriptive qualitative. In this study, the authors used the theory of Corporate Campaign Theory and AIDDA theory as the basis for campaign marketing. By using the direct observation method where the author participates in the concept-making process and organizing activities as well as the interview method with 5 (five) resource persons, 2 (two) of whom are the Pelindo 1 public relations team, and 3 (three) others are activity participants. The result of this research is that Pelindo 1's PR has made the Port Visit activity a superior program and campaign tool to socialize port business to the community. This is evidenced by the fact that Port visits are registered in the company's Monthly Activity Plan (RKB) and are carried out routinely 2-3 times in a few months. Based on the results of the research, the participants who took part in the Port Visit activity admitted that the concept was not only theoretical but involved directly in the field to see the port area, as well as a fun session as an evaluation stage, making their thinking about the world of the ports and the role and function of ports change not only as a place leaning on ships but serving as a gateway to the world economy.

Abstract

The writer discuss about the personality of the main character, Krystal Weedon, in The Casual Vacancy. The writer focuses on the personality of Krystal Weedon by using psychoanalysis approach. In this research, the writer used qualitative research method. Quality refers to the what, how, when, and where of a thing its essence and ambience. This novel described a unique personality of Krystal Weedon as a teenager that has many problems in her life. By means of the background above, the writer would like to analyze the novel The Casual Vacancy using psychoanalysis study to reveal the personality of the main character in this novel.

Abstract

The current phenomenon in the world of politics is flooded with families of politicians who run for politics. Where the next cabinet will be dominated by young people. On the other hand, a young politician, although included in the scope of a political dynasty, shows that young people are not politically apathetic. And to continue to exist in the world of politics, personal branding is needed where every candidate for politicians must build a name or reputation which means creating a "brand" or public perception of them. Bobby Nasution as one of the candidates for the mayor of Medan 2020 tries to create positive personal branding among the people of Medan. This study aims to determine how the public opinion on the personal brand of the 2020 Medan Mayor Candidates. This type of research uses quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were the people of Tanjung Selamat Subdistrict, Medan Tuntung District, with 100 people as the sample in the study. Data collection techniques in this study were observations and questionnaires (questionnaires). Data analysis in this research is a single table analysis. This research was conducted in the environment III Tanjung Selamat, Medan Tuntung District. When this research was conducted in July 2020. The results of the study, namely personal branding, aim to obtain perceptions that give rise to a positive reputation for the individual. But in fact, the personal brand Bobby Nasution tends to be less than optimal in the Tanjung Selamat Community. This research concludes that Bobby Nasution's brand as a candidate for Mayor of Medan in 2020 raises public opinion and raises the pros and cons of society.

Abstract

This undergraduate thesis describe justice theory and propaganda theory. This is aiming at analyzing violation of justice and propaganda police towards the main character and society in American. This undergraduate thesis has two main objectives to portray the violation of justice and the police propaganda in America as reflected in the Changeling film. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. There are two types of data in this study, they are primary and secondary data. The primary data is taken from the film Changeling and secondary data are taken from books, articles, journals, and data from network sources. In this research the, writer uses an interdisciplinary study. In conducting the analysis, researchers used the theory of justice and propaganda theory. To analyze this topic, the researcher uses John Rawls's theory of justice, which is actually contradict with what happens in this film. Then the researchers used propaganda theory from Jowett and O'Donnell, which the theory shows the behavior of the police against the main characters. The result of the study shows that is Los Angeles Police Department does not serve the society wisely. They use their power to be inappropriate. It acts in a violent way, and intimidates its citizens. The evil man are protected and the good is shot dead. Justice is not always run by violating people’s right. This research also finds that people who have been given a great power, they tend to abuse the power. Moreover, in human relationship, the concept of equal treatment must be applied to avoid conflicts. People who get unfair treatment tend to fight against the bad treatment. Everyone has rights to be treated equally. Upholding justice is not always done by violation their rights. This research also finds that fairly equal treatment is valuable. People should be treated equally in any condition.

Abstract

On this research, the researcher has aim to find out the main character Dewi Ayu’s human needs and identify the most dominant needs. In this study, the researcher applied the psychological approach and theory of human needs. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The writer uses a library research method to collect the data. It means that the writer visit the library and reads the novel then read several related books. The main data is novel beauty is a wound by Eka Kurniawan, while supporting data is obtained from books, articles, and the internet. The result of this study can be explained that the main character can not totally fulfill well, such as: (1) the physiological needs of the main character can be fulfilled well because she is from a wealthy family (2) the safety can not be fulfilled due to factors in that era (3) the love and belonging need can be fulfilled well because the main character has a beautiful appearance (4) the esteem needs can be fulfilled because she is a famous figure at that time (5) self-actualization needs also can be fulfilled well because the main character is a brave and is able to position herself very well. From the five hierarchy needs the most dominant need is safety needs.
