Abstract

This study aimed to determine forage production and carrying capacity in the swamp Menggala District, Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province. This research was conducted in August - October 2017 at the swamp, Menggala District, Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province and the Laboratory of Nutrients and Feed technology Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, Lampung University. This study used survey method, with sampling taken using purposive sampling. The data used from this study consisted of primary and secondary data. The results showed that forage production in the district of Menggala in a year produced as much as 83.839.260 kg / year and 14.792.992 kg / year in dry matter. based ofn forage production as much as 14.792.992 kg / year can accommodate 4503 AU / year. Abstract

The research aims to determine the value of blood glucose and plasma total protein in Simpo cattle suffering from trematodiasis. The research was conducted in December 2018 by taking blood samples of Simpo cattle in East Lampung. The research design used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 4 replications from Simpo cow blood samples. The treatment used is P0: Simpo cattle which are not infested by worms; P1: Simpo cattle infested with 1 type of worm; and P2: Simpo cattle infested with 2 types of worms. Blood glucose value were analyzed in Biolab Indonesia Partner and total plasma were analyzed at Lampung Veterinary Center. Data from the observations were analyze using variance at the real level (P <0,10) and continued with the Small Significant Difference test. The results of this study showed that Simpo cattle suffering from trematodiasis had significant effected (P <0,10) on blood glucose values and had no significant effected (P> 0,10) on total plasma protein. The highest number of blood glucose values at P0(65,00 mg / dL) and the lowest at P1 (56,75 mg / dL). Total plasma protein at P0 (7,20 g / dL), P1 (7,30 g / dL), and P2 (6,95 g / dL). Abstract

This study aimed to determine: 1) the total of leukocytes and differential leukocytes of broilers given different probiotics; 2) the best total of leukocytes and leukocyte differentials with the different probiotics. This research was carried out on January 10 2018 to February 9 2018. This research held at the farm and leukocyte analysis and differential leukocyte were carried out at the Lampung Veterinary Laboratory. The experimental design used completely randomized design with 3 replications with each test having 25 experimental units and 4 treatments (P0: drinking water without probiotics, P1: drinking water with probiotics A, P2: drinking water with probiotics B, and P3: drinking water with probiotics C). Treatment was given to broilers aged 7 days. Leukocytes and differential leukocytes were tested by WBC test. Observation data were analyzed with 5% and / or 1% level variance and continued with the Smallest Significant Difference test. The results of this study showed thesupplementation of probiotics in drinking water had significant effected (P <0.01) on the total of leukocytes and had a significant effect (P <0.05) on lymphocytes and neutrophils while not significant effected (P> 0.05) on basophils , eosinophils, and monocytes of broiler chicken. Abstract

This study aims to determine the heritability value and breeding value of weaning weight of Ongole crossbreed (PO) cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. The study was conducted in Wawasan Village Tanjungsari District South Lampung Regency on May 2018 to August 2018. The research material consisted of a recording of the birth of the cows, the birth weight of the parents, the weaning weight of the parents, the age of weaning parents, the age of the parents at the time of birth, the weight of the female calves, weaning weight of female calves and weaning age of the parents which gave birth twice in 2015 to 2017. This study uses survey method. Data analysis was done by looking for corrected weaning weights, estimated heritability values, and breeding values of weaning weights in PO cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. Based on the results of the study showed PO cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency the average corrected weaning weight of the parents were 98.87±1.79 and the average calf corrected weights were 140.64±38.87; heritability value of weaning weight were 0.40; and the average breeding value were 140.64±15.24. Calculation of breeding values shows that there are 54% of PO cattle that have above-average breeding values. Keywords: Breeding value, Heritability, Ongole crossbreed, Weaning weight

Abstract

The purpose of this research was 1) to compare the effect of chemical (ammoniation) and biological (mold) treatment on coffee husk to dry matter and organic matter digestibility in vitro; 2) knowing the best parameters of the quality on coffee husk processed biologically and chemically on the dry matter and organic matter digestibility in vitro. The research was conducted on 31th of December 2018 until 01st of March 2019 at the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Food Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, University of Lampung; Microbiology Laboratory of FMIPA Lampung University and Dairy Animal Nutrition Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural University. This study used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments given in this study were coffee husk without treatment (P1), coffee husk with 4% urea (P2), coffee husk with 1.5% ammonium sulfate (P3), coffee husk with Aspergillus niger 5 gram (P4). The results showed that ammoniation and fermentation treatment significantly effect (P<0,01) for dry matter digestibility and digestibility of organic matter. The best treatment of coffee husk on dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility is by adding 4% urea. Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of microclimate manipulation on glucose levels and blood urea of boer goat and ettawa goat grade. This study was conducted on August—September 2018 in the UPTD Breeding Center of Negeri Sakti, the District of Pesawaran, Lampung. Analyzed of glucose levels and blood urea were done in UPTD Laboratorium Health Center of Bandar Lampung. This study used split plot design with treatments and 3 replications. The treatment in the research are the main plot is a cage without misting (K0) and a misting enclosure (K1). While the subplots are ettawa goat grade and Boer goats (T2).The data obtained were analyzed by variance analyzed with significant level of 5%. The results showed that the treatment of cage climate manipulation had no significant effect (P> 0,05) on glucose and urea in the blood. Abstract

Garlic (Alliumsativum Linn) is one of the herbs that have been shown to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Component of garlic that has been shown to inhibit microbe is allicin or diallyl acid tiosulfinat. This study aims to determine the effect of storage length on preference test sensory color, aroma, flavor chunks of breast meat of broilers fed extracts of garlic, Determine the effect of storage length to the preference test sensory color, aroma, and flavor chunks of breast meat of broilers fed extracts of garlic. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Production and Reproduction Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung and meat samples obtained from RPA Hi. Nasir, Jl. Skin,Langkapura, Kemiling, Bandar Lampung City. Treatment using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and twenty replications. The treatments were storage length 0, 3, 6, 9 hoursmeat broiler fed extracts of garlic. The data were analyzed ANOVA(Analysis of Variance) at the 5% significance level.These results indicate that giving garlic extract 10% inmeat storage broiler 0, 3, 6, 9 hours no real effect (P> 0.05) to power the likes sensory (color, aroma, and flavor). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding microorganic mineral and Silage of cassava leaves to TDN (Total Digestible Nutrient) and digestible energy based on palm oil waste on heifer. The study was conducted in March-May 2018 at the Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The material of this study using 9 Ongole cattle grade and grouping based on body weight. This study used a randomized block design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The research treatment consisted of R0 (ration control), R1 (R0 + organic minerals (Zn 40 ppm, Cu 10 ppm, Cr 0.30 ppm, and Se 0.10 ppm) and R3 (R1 + 15% cassava leaves (branched amino acid source / brand chain amino acid) The results showed that: The provision of rations based on oil palm waste significantly affected TDN (Total Digestible Nutrient) and did not significantly affect digestible energy in the Ongole Breeders cow, fermented waste palm oil rations (R2) produced the highest and optimum TDN average is 72.11%, the ration based on fermented palm oil (R2) produces the highest and optimum digestible energy average of 15381.57Kcal / head / day. Abstract

This study aims to determined the effect of giving rations with different of herbs dosages on external quality of crossbred chicken eggs and to find out the best dosage of herbs in ration that affect the external quality of crossbred chicken eggs. This research was conducted in September 2018 in the poultry house of the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The chickens used were crossbred chickens between male Lohmann brown and female kampong (3/4 Lohmann brown +1/4 kampong) layer phase aged (48 weeks) as many as 20 chickens. The experimental design used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment given are a diet with different dosages of herbs, which are, H0: without herbs, H1: 1g / 1kg, H2: 2g / 1kg, H3: 3g / 1kg. The data obtained were analyzed by analyze of variance using significant level of 5% and followed by least significant different test. The variables observed were consumption of calcium and phosphorus, egg weight, and shell thickness. The results showed that different rations with herbs level had a significant effected (P <0,05) on egg weight and did not significant effected (P> 0,05) on calcium intake, phosphorus intake, and shell thickness. Abstract

This study aims to determined the correlation between body weight with scrotal circumference and volume of semen and scrotum circumference with volume of semen of Saburai Goat in the source breeding area, Tanggamus District. This research was observing 20 Saburai goat males in the breeding area by survey method. This research was conducted from 26 April to 30 July 2018. Research data used primary data and secondary data taken from direct observation in the field and recording of livestock from breeders' source areas. Data were analyzed by correlation analysis using SPSS software 16.0 version. The variables observed included body weight, scrotal circumference, and volume of semen. The results indicated that correlation between body weight and scrotum circumference 0,410; correlation between body weight and volume of semen 0,300; and correlation between scrotal circumference and volume of semen 0,148.
