Abstract

Analysis of the carrying capacity of the region is needed as an appropriate development direction. This study aims to analyze the carrying capacity of the area for the development of Bali cattle in Baito District, South Konawe Regency. The data used in the study are primary. Primary is obtained directly from interviews with Balinese cattle farmers in Baito District. The method used is the census method of all breeders. The data analysis used in this study was livestock density analysis. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that economic density can still be developed, the density of agricultural businesses is possible to accommodate Balinese cattle to be developed, and the density of the area is still very likely. Baito sub-district is based on a combination of livestock density, which includes distribution and development areas in a combination of farmer-region and development areas in 2 combinations, namely economy-farming and economy-region.

Abstract

This study aims to find an estimator of body weight by means of shank length and shank circumference in adult Kampung chickens reared traditionally. A total of 173 adult Kampung chickens (79 males and 94 females), aged 1 year belonging to several breeders in Prafi District, Manokwari Regency, were used as material for this study. Best Subsets Regression analysis was used to find the best body weight estimation model for this research chicken. The results showed that shank length (PSJ) was the best estimator of body weight (BBJ) for adult male Kampung chickens through the formula: BBJ = 0.363 PSJ – 1.67, because it had the best accuracy rate (highest R2 and lowest C-p and s) compared to the formula others available. For adult female Kampung chickens, shank length (PSB) and shank circumference (LSB) are the best estimators of body weight (BBB) for adult female Kampung chickens using the formula: BBB = 0.205 PSB + 0.127 LSB - 0.864, because it has the best level of accuracy (R2 highest and C-p and lowest s) compared to other available formulas. These formulas are very well applied to Kampung chicken farms that are kept traditionally in an area in order to choose good male candidates and prospective brooders for that area.

Abstract

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of cassava meal fermented to productivity of broiler chickens. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, each redication was filled with 3 chicks so that the number of chicks in this study was 60 chicks. The variables observed were initial weight, ration consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, final body weight, morbidity and mortality. The treatments were P0 (research ration with 5% cassava meal), P1 (research ration with 3% cassava meal fermented), P2 (research ration with 6% cassava meal fermented), P3 (research ration with 9% cassava meal fermented). The results showed a significant difference from these facts, but not significantly different on body weight gain, ration conversion and final body weight. The average initial weight was 45.55 grams/birds, the morbidity rate were 2 chicks the mortality rate was also 0.17%. Giving cassava meal fermented up to 9% can be consumed by broiler chickens without reducing productivity.

Abstract

Increasing people's welfare is in line with increasing consumption of broiler meat as a source of animal protein. Improving a person's quality of life has implications for a selective attitude in choosing the quality and quantity of food consumed. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the consumption of purebred chicken in Teluk Ambon District. The research location was determined purposively, namely deliberately in the market located in Teluk Ambon District, namely Pasar Rumah Tiga and Pasar Wayame. The basis for location considerations is that the people around the market have varied occupational professions and have heterogeneous levels of education. The research sample was drawn using the accidental sampling method, namely taking samples of respondents who are consumers who happen to shop for chicken meat. Respondents were taken as many as 60 people. To analyze the factors that influence the amount of consumption of chicken meat analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis method. The research results show that the price of chicken meat, the price of chicken eggs, the price of fish, the level of education, dependants, tastes, and income together have a significant influence on the amount of consumption of chicken meat. Partially, the variable price of chicken meat, the number of family dependents, income tastes have a significant effect on the amount of chicken meat consumption, while the price of chicken eggs, the price of fish, and the level of education have no significant effect on the amount of chicken meat consumption.

Abstract

Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is transboundary disease and characterized by the presence of nodules on the skin This Study is aimed to assess the level of knowledge of the sacrificial committee towards Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in Bandar Lampung City. The data were taken by using research instruments (questionnaire) with 100 respondents. The Research subjects in this study were sacrificial committees in 20 districts around Bandar Lampung City. Sacrificial committees were dominated by 50-60 years old, level of education Senior High School, and 1-10 years experienced in becoming sacrificial committee. Results showed that the average level of respondents’ knowledge regarding the LSD symptoms is high (80), whereas the knowledge towards LSD transmission, and control are in the medium level (72.06 and 64.3)

Abstract

Direct Fed microbials (DFM) is a product of non-pathogenic live microorganisms that is beneficial when given to humans or livestock to improve livestock health, feed conversion efficiency and perfomance by suppressing pathogenic microorganisms in the digestive tract and influencing the balance of intestinal microbes. This study aims to provide information about the potential of Lactobacillus plantarum FNCC 0020 as a DFM agent. This study used a descriptive experimental method. Parameters observed included resistance tests to acid pH (5, 3, 2), pH 7 were also tested to determine resistance to neutral pH. The ability of Lactobacillus plantarum FNCC 0020 to survive at room temperature with different incubation times (5, 7, 10 days) were also tested to determine the storability of Lactobacillus plantarum FNCC 0020 inoculum at room temperature.. The results showed that Lactobacillus plantarum FNCC 0020 had resistance to the lowest pH (2) and also survived at neutral pH (7) with a total colony of 2.25 x 108 and .3 x 107 CFU mL-1, respectively. Lactobacillus plantarum FNCC 0020 inoculum can be stored at room temperature for up to 10 days and still has a total colony of 3.8 x 107 CFU mL-1.

Abstract

Processing goat's milk into yoghurt products can reduce the distinctive aroma of 'prengus' by adding a starter that will break down lactose into lactic acid and switch the milk smell into a distinctive odour of yoghurt. It will also increase the consumption of goat's milk with higher nutritional value and extend the shelf life. This study aims to determine the potential of the natural stabilizer of uwi starch in improving the quality of set yoghurt goat's milk during its shelf-life. This study was conducted in experimental used CRD with four treatments (P1: 0-day storage, P2: 2 days storage, P3: 4 days storage, P4: 6 days storage) and five replications. Analysis of variance used to determine the potential of the natural stabilizer of uwi starch on total lactic acid bacteria, viscosity, and water content set yoghurt goat's milk. And then, Honestly Significant Difference was used to know the difference between the treatments. The results showed that the treatment adding a natural stabilizer of uwi starch was significantly different (P<0.05) in total lactic acid bacteria during storage and had no significant effect (P>0.05) on viscosity and water content during storage
