Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out about the effect of Clove leaf (syzygium aromaticum) on the chemical quality of rice bran during storage. This research is done during a period of two months in the Food Technology and Engineering Laboratory of Pattimura, University’s Faculty of Agriculture. This research is an experiment using completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 repetitions. The experiments are: K = 200gr rice bran without preservatives (control), K1 = 200gr rice bran with addition of 30ml clove leaf extract with 200gr water + 100gr clove leaves; with 1:1 ratio. K2 = 200gr rice bran with addition of 30ml clove leaf extract with 200gr water + 100gr clove leaves; with 1:2 ratio. K3 = 200gr rice bran with addition of 30ml clove leaf extract with 200gr water + 100gr clove leaves; with 2:1 ratio. The measure variables are: water content, ash content, fat, protein, and crude fiber. The results are analyzed using ANOVA in SPSS Version 19. If there are any differences in the results it would be further analyzed with the Duncan test. The results of this research shows that the use of clove extract in treatment with 2:1 ratio could maintain the chemical quality of rice bran (water content, ash content, fat, protein, and crude fiber.

Abstract

Increasing people's welfare is in line with increasing consumption of broiler meat as a source of animal protein. Improving a person's quality of life has implications for a selective attitude in choosing the quality and quantity of food consumed. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the consumption of purebred chicken in Teluk Ambon District. The research location was determined purposively, namely deliberately in the market located in Teluk Ambon District, namely Pasar Rumah Tiga and Pasar Wayame. The basis for location considerations is that the people around the market have varied occupational professions and have heterogeneous levels of education. The research sample was drawn using the accidental sampling method, namely taking samples of respondents who are consumers who happen to shop for chicken meat. Respondents were taken as many as 60 people. To analyze the factors that influence the amount of consumption of chicken meat analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis method. The research results show that the price of chicken meat, the price of chicken eggs, the price of fish, the level of education, dependants, tastes, and income together have a significant influence on the amount of consumption of chicken meat. Partially, the variable price of chicken meat, the number of family dependents, income tastes have a significant effect on the amount of chicken meat consumption, while the price of chicken eggs, the price of fish, and the level of education have no significant effect on the amount of chicken meat consumption.

Abstract

The beef cattle business will have a higher use value if the production factors can be used effectively and efficiently to obtain decent profits, thus ensuring the sustainability of the business for the welfare of farmers. This study was conducted with the aim of finding out the income, profitability, and factors that affect the income of the beef cattle business. The survey was carried out in Lolong Guna District, Buru Regency, which took place in August 2023. A total of 3 villages, namely Wanakarta, Waegeren, and Grandeng villages, were designated as sample villages, and 60 respondents were determined by purposive sampling with the criteria of having raised beef cattle for more than three years and selling livestock in the last year. Revenue and profitability analysis was carried out to determine the feasibility of the business, and multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine the factors that affect revenue. The average revenue of the beef cattle business is Rp. 4,492,900 per year with a profitability value of 47.37%. Factors that affect the income of the beef cattle business are production costs, the number of livestock marketed, and the selling price of livestock. Meanwhile, livestock ownership does not affect income.

Abstract

Toinaman Hamlet is located on Moa Island, the condition of the hamlet is remote, limited infrastructure, minimal access to basic services and is an isolated hamlet.  Most of the residents in this hamlet are very dependent on the weather and natural products to survive. When natural conditions are unfavorable, such as storms, drought or rough seas, their source of livelihood is significantly disrupted. This of course greatly affects the ability of local hamlet communities to be able to meet their nutritional food needs, especially to fulfill their children's nutrition. Fulfilling nutrition for children in rural areas often faces its own challenges, especially related to access to a variety of nutritious foods. Some common problems include limited food ingredients, traditional diets that may lack diversity, and limited knowledge about nutrition. One source of nutritious food that is important for health is beef.  Beef is a good source of protein for children because it contains many important nutrients such as iron, zinc and vitamin B12, all of which support their growth and development. The PKM activity carried out is in the form of providing nutritious food in the form of processed beef to the children of Toinaman Hamlet, Moa Island. The aim is to improve the nutrition of the hamlet children, prevent malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies and support the growth and development of the children of Toinaman Hamlet, Moa Island. The food products provided are food products made from beef, namely rendang products

Abstract

Indonesia, as a developing country, generally has more people who are active or work primarily as farmers with middle to lower family economic status and low levels of knowledge. In particular, knowledge of the importance of daily nutritional needs is not very good. Increasing knowledge of daily nutritional needs is very necessary in order to make people aware of the importance of adequate nutrition for the development of the next generation. Various nutritional sources that can be used to increase nutritional intake, and have relatively cheap prices and can be reached by all groups. It is common knowledge that livestock products have complete nutritional content and high levels of nutrition. Among the livestock products that have quite high quality at affordable prices are eggs. Eggs can be used as a complementary source of nutrition, because eggs are an animal product that is rich in nutrients and easily digested by the human body. This community service is carried out in high school with the target of students so that they gain knowledge regarding the importance of nutritional needs for their physical and non-physical development. The results of implementing community service at SMK N 7 Southwest Maluku school went well in accordance with the strategy that had been prepared by the service team. The implementation of community service is generally divided into four sessions, namely the pretest session, the session providing service materials, the posttest session, and the awarding session.

Abstract

The socialization process is an effort by the livestock study program to introduce and get closer to the community outside. Implementation of community service for the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program, Southwest Maluku Regency was carried out at the SMK. The service approach is carried out by coming directly to the target school and having the theme of the school principal then discussing the purpose of the activities of the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program, Southwest Maluku Regency. Meanwhile, the second stage was implementing community service by presenting socialization material for the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program, Southwest Maluku Regency. This process of community service is specifically for students of SMK.N 7 Southwest Maluku who are in grade 3 so that the aim of introducing the Animal Husbandry Study Program can be clearer and is expected to become a benchmark for them to be able to continue their studies in the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program Southwest Maluku Regency. Results of the implementation of socialization in vocational schools. N 7 Southwest Maluku is running well according to what has been designed together with the livestock study program service team.

Abstract

Saluran pemasaran merupakan elemen yang sangat penting dalam kegiatan pemasaran sapi potong mulai dari peternak hingga ke konsumen akhir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis saluran pemasaran, margin pemasaran dan efisiensi pemasaran sapi potong di Kecamatan Lolong Guba, Kabupaten Buru. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei, sampel dipilih secara purpusive sampling untuk peternak maupun pedagang. Penelitian berlangsung pada bulan Februari hingga Maret 2023. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk mengetahui saluran pemasaran, analisis margin pemasaran dan farmer’s share untuk mengetahui tingkat efisiensi setiap saluran pemasaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 saluran pemasaran sapi potong di Kecamatan Lolong Guba, sebanyak 83 % peternak menggunakan saluran pemasaran I. Margin pemasaran berkisar antara Rp. 387.500 sampai dengan Rp. 1.162.500,- Saluran pemasaran yang paling efisien adalah saluran pemasaran II dengan nilai farmer’s share sebesar 90,04 %.

Abstract

White turmeric is an herbal plant that contains additives and has good potential, does not cause residues or is harmful when consumed by livestock. The main components of white turmeric rhizome which have medicinal properties are essential oils and curcuminoids. Curcuminoid compounds have antibacterial properties that can improve the digestive process by killing pathogenic bacteria and stimulating the walls of the gallbladder so that they can facilitate fat metabolism. Administration of white turmeric extract 0%, 2% and 4% had no significant effect on slaughter weight, carcass weight, giblet percentage and abdominal fat percentage of broiler chickens

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the correlation between live weight, carcass weight, and giblet weight in broiler chickens given 4% white turmeric extract. This study was conducted from July to September 2024 at the Poultry Unit of the Animal Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Pattimura University Ambon. The materials used in this research were 60 Cobb strain broiler chickens. The feed provided consisted of BR1 and BR2 produced by PT. Malindo Feedmilk, vita stress, and Gumboro vaccine. The white turmeric extract administered was 40 ml from a total of 1000 ml of drinking water (4% white turmeric extract). The data analysis technique used in this study was simple linear regression statistical testing to examine the effect of the independent variable (live weight) on the dependent variable (carcass weight) of broiler chicken at a significance level (?) = 0.05. Data processing was performed using the SPSS computer program. The results showed that live weight had a very strong (0.992) and positive correlation with carcass weight in broiler chickens given 4% white turmeric extract, while live weight and giblet weight had a strong (0.711) and positive correlation

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis motivasi peternak kerbau di Kecamatan Moa, Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya, serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan penyebaran kuesioner kepada 50 peternak kerbau di wilayah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi peternak dipengaruhi oleh tiga faktor utama, yaitu faktor ekonomi, sosial, dan budaya. Faktor ekonomi menjadi motivasi dominan, dimana pendapatan dari penjualan kerbau dan produk turunan seperti susu dan daging menjadi sumber utama bagi peternak. Faktor sosial berperan penting dalam menjaga status sosial peternak, karena kepemilikan kerbau menjadi simbol prestise dalam komunitas. Selain itu, faktor budaya juga sangat mempengaruhi, di mana pemeliharaan kerbau merupakan bagian dari tradisi dan ritual adat. Meskipun motivasi peternak cukup tinggi, mereka menghadapi berbagai tantangan seperti keterbatasan akses pasar, masalah kesehatan ternak, dan dampak perubahan iklim terhadap ketersediaan pakan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya dukungan pemerintah dan lembaga terkait dalam meningkatkan akses pasar, memberikan pelatihan kesehatan ternak, serta mengembangkan solusi yang adaptif terhadap perubahan iklim untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan peternak.
