Abstract

According to 2018 International Labour Organization (ILO) data, globally, there are 60,000 fatal accidents per year. Approximately 1 in 6 reported fatal accidents occur in the construction sector. The number of workplace accidents in Indonesia is relatively high. This is due to the still weak awareness of workers. This study aimed to determine factors related to compliance in the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among workshop workers at PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas New Makassar Terminal 2. This type of research uses quantitative methods with a cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique used was total sampling with a total of 40 respondents. Data were obtained using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (alpha = 0.05) and from the results of the study obtained that the variables related to compliance in the use of PPE are attitudes (p-value = 0.040) and availability of PPE (p-value = 0.039) while those that are not related are Education (p-value = 0.392), knowledge (p-value = 1.000) and supervision (p-value = 0.369). It can be concluded that there is no relationship between Education, compliance, and supervision, and there is a relationship between attitudes and availability of PPE with compliance in the use of personal protective equipment. The study's findings suggest that PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas New Makassar Terminal 2 should implement a stricter K3 system and routinely provide guidance in the proper use of PPE, which could significantly improve workplace safety.

Abstract

Supplementary Feeding (PMT) is an intervention program implemented by the government in the toddler age group, which is intended as additional intake besides daily staple foods to overcome the problem of malnutrition. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the supplementary feeding (PMT) program for malnourished toddlers with an input-process-output approach at the Tamalanrea Jaya Community Health Center. The type of research used was quantitative descriptive. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the Chi-Square test. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The research sample was 50 people. The results of the study showed a relationship between human resources and the effectiveness of the PMT program (ρ = 0.000), there was a relationship between facilities and infrastructure and the effectiveness of the PMT program (ρ = 0.002), there was a relationship between program implementation and the effectiveness of the PMT program (ρ = 0.023) and there was a relationship between program achievements and the effectiveness of the PMT program (ρ = 0.001). These findings suggest that future research should focus on these areas to enhance the PMT program's effectiveness further. It is hoped that future researchers can analyze the effectiveness of the supplementary feeding program for toddlers in more depth.

Abstract

Safety talk is an activity carried out before work by providing material to remind workers that occupational health and safety (K3) is important in a job. This study aims to determine the relationship between safety talk and work accidents at PT. Pelindo Terminal Petikemas New Makassar Termina 2. Pelindo Terminal Petikemas New Makassar Termina 2. This type of research uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional study design with a population of 77 workers and a sample of 77 workers using total sampling. Data analysis was done univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test to determine the related variables. The results of this study show that the p-value of knowledge with work accidents is 0.609, the p-value of education with work accidents is 0.498, and the p-value of compliance with work accidents is 0.000. A p-value less than 0.05 is considered statistically significant, indicating a strong relationship between the variables. Therefore, it can be concluded that the influential variable is compliance with work accidents. This study concludes that compliance is a variable related to work accidents. The suggestion from this study is that it is hoped that the company will provide training to workers regarding the importance of occupational health and safety (K3).

Abstract

Occupational contact dermatitis is a disease caused by work due to the interaction between the skin and substances used in the work environment. These substances irritate the skin, causing damage and stimulating inflammatory reactions, so that skin irritation is the most common cause of contact dermatitis. This study aims to analyze the determinants of occupational dermatitis in scavengers of the Antang Landfill. The type of research used is Analytical Observation with a case-control design. The sample was 70 respondents. Primary data collection was obtained from interviews using questionnaires, and data processing was carried out using the SPSS program. Univariate and bivariate data analysis was carried out using the chi-square test. The results of the study were obtained based on the results of the Pearson Chi-square test, the value of ρ = 0.037, which is smaller than α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between work period and the occurrence of contact dermatitis in scavengers. Based on the results of the Pearson Chi-square test, the value of ρ = 0.002, which is smaller than α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between work history and the occurrence of contact dermatitis. Based on the results of the Pearson Chi square test, the value of ρ = 0.000 or less than 0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the use of ganco and the incidence of contact dermatitis Based on the results of the Pearson Chi square test, the value of ρ = 0.003 or less than 0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the use of PPE and the incidence of contact dermatitis in scavengers. This study concludes a relationship between work period, work history, use of ganco, and use of PPE with the incidence of contact dermatitis in scavengers at the Antang TPA, Makassar City.

Abstract

Fatigue is a combination of mental and physical function decline that reduces work enthusiasm, decreasing work effectiveness and efficiency. This study aims to determine the factors associated with work fatigue in workers at PT. Maruki International Indonesia in 2023. To achieve this, we conducted a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. We used a total sampling technique, surveying all 64 workers in factory 1. Data were obtained using a questionnaire to measure various factors related to work fatigue. We then used univariate and bivariate analysis, including the chi-square test, to analyze the data. The results showed a relationship between age and work fatigue (p-value = 0.000 <0.05). There was a relationship between workload and work fatigue (p-value = 0.000 <0.05). There was no relationship between length of service and work fatigue. There was no relationship between work period and work fatigue. There was no relationship between nutritional status and work fatigue (p-value = 0.595 >0.05). From the results of this study, the researcher suggests that companies should provide more attention to older workers, providing sufficient rest time and reducing the workload given to minimize work fatigue, and also for workers to maintain normal nutritional status.

Abstract

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause mild to severe symptoms. On April 4, 2020, the WHO reported that the number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 was 1,056,157 people, with a death toll of 57,130 people. The purpose of this study is to determine the risk factors for the occurrence of COVID-19 at the Andi Djemma Masamba Regional General Hospital in 2021. The type of qualitative research is the case-control study method. The design of this study was carried out by first identifying the group of cases (COVID-19 sufferers) and then looking retrospectively at whether or not there are risk factors that are suspected to play a role. The sample in this study consisted of 352 respondents from Lewenshow's calculation, with a ratio of 1:3, consisting of 88 cases and 264 controls. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analyses with a chi-square correlation test. The results of this study show that age is a protective factor of the incidence of Covid-19 at Andi Djemma Masamba Hospital (OR=0.614; 95%CI=0.312-1.210), gender is a protective factor of the incidence of Covid-19 at Andi Djemma Masamba Hospital (OR=0.463; 95% CI=0.282-0.760), clinical symptoms are a protective factor of the incidence of Covid-19 at Andi Djemma Masamba Hospital (OR=0.020; 95% CI=0.119-0.808), and commobid which is a protective factor of the incidence of Covid-19 at Andi Djemma Masamba Hospital (OR=0.945; 95% CI=0.553-1). 616). The conclusion of this study shows that age, gender, clinical symptoms, and comorbidities are protective factors against the incidence of COVID-19. As a suggestion in this study, it is hoped that people with comorbidities will be able to control their comorbidities, considering that comorbidities are one of the factors that aggravate the incidence of COVID-19.

Abstract

A work accident is an incident that occurs suddenly, unintentionally, and can result in the loss of life and property. An unsafe act, or an unsafe action, is a behavior that can pose a risk to the worker or other workers in the workplace, resulting in an incident due to various factors. This study applies a quantitative method using a cross-sectional study research design. This study's results show that knowledge and training variables are significantly related to unsafe acts committed by stevedoring workers at the Nusantara Parepare port. In contrast, the variables of work period and supervision do not have a significant relationship with unsafe acts in stevedoring workers (TKBM) at the Nusantara Parepare port. Workers must carry out their work while still following the safety procedures that have been implemented. The importance of increasing worker knowledge and training regarding Occupational Health and Safety is so that workers can protect themselves and others while doing their work. Workers should rest when they feel tired and pay more attention to a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Hypertension in pregnant women is a serious health problem that contributes to high rates of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. This study, conducted at the Asera Community Health Center, North Konawe Regency, aimed to determine the relationship between family history and physical activity and hypertension incidence in pregnant women. The observational analytic study with a case-control design, involved 38 pregnant women as respondents selected through a total sampling technique. Data was collected using questionnaires and medical records, and then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between a family history of hypertension (p = 0.000) and physical activity (p = 0.021) with the incidence of hypertension in pregnant women. The conclusion of this study is that a family history of hypertension and low physical activity increase the risk of hypertension in pregnant women. These findings have important implications for health promotion and prevention efforts, providing a basis for strategies to prevent complications of hypertension in pregnant women.
