Abstract

This article describes the analysis of the weaknesses of Sigmund Freud's concept of divinity which is analyzed with the concept of Al Kindi's divine philosophy. The analysis uses a qualitative approach with exploratory and analytical methods. The result of this research is that Sigmund Freud's view of God cannot be justified, because it is only his subjective view that is far-fetched without conducting a deeper study of the essence and existence of God Himself. Freud only studied the psychological side of man, but he did not study the spiritual side of man himself. Al Kindi's view of God is more reliable because he explains the essence and existence of God based on empirical evidence that exists in nature, such as the novelty of nature, diversity in form, and the neatness of nature. He also explained that God is both the creator and the ruler of the universe. There is only one God and no one like Him. Besides Allah, it has many meanings. Therefore, in order to attain knowledge of God, it is necessary to conduct a deeper study in terms of man's intellect and spirituality so that he does not deny the existence of God.

Abstract

This study examines the values embedded in the pesantren education system that form a patron-client relationship between kiai and santri. This relationship is characterized by the characteristics of imbalance, individuality, and breadth, which are reflected in pesantren educational literature such as Kitab Ta'lim Muta'allim. Qualitative methods will be used in writing this article, with qualitative methods integrating field research and literature studies to explore the relevance between the pesantren ethical principle of sami'na wa atho'na which means "we hear and we obey" with Immanuel Kant's ethical philosophy, particularly the ethical theory of obligation or deontology. Kant, who lived in the 18th century, developed an ethical concept centered on the categorical imperative and the importance of good will and the autonomy of the will, which emphasized universal moral obligation and the attainment of eternal happiness. This article highlights how the principle of sami'na wa atho'na is still relevant and respected in the context of pesantren, despite differences with modern educational approaches that encourage students to be more active and critical. This research provides insight into how traditional pesantren values survive and interact with modern ethical concepts, as well as their implications for the dynamics of education and morality in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Sufistic approach in the study of religion is a method that seeks to explore the mystical and esoteric dimensions within various religious traditions, including Islam. This article highlights the use of the Sufistic approach by scholars, both within and outside the Islamic tradition, to understand the phenomenon of Sufism and mystical practices in Muslim communities. This study shows that the Sufistic approach is not only relevant for understanding individual morality and spirituality but also provides a broader perspective on interfaith dialogue and pluralism. Various methods such as phenomenology, historical, and even interreligious approaches are employed in Sufistic studies. Thus, this approach offers a deeper understanding of subjective and symbolic spiritual experiences. However, the study also emphasizes that understanding Sufism requires mastery of complex Sufistic terminology and concepts. This article concludes that, amidst the challenges of modernity and extremism, the Sufistic approach in religious studies remains relevant as an effort to enrich the understanding of religiosity and tolerance among religious communities.

Abstract

Humanism is a school of thought that emphasizes human value and dignity, individual freedom, and the potential for human rationality in shaping their own lives. This research was conducted using qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Humanism developed from Renaissance thought which shifted attention from cosmocentrism and theocentrism to anthropocentrism, where humans became the center of thought. However, humanism is not free from criticism, especially from the perspective of religion, postmodern philosophy, and ecology which considers humanism to be too human-centered and ignores divine and environmental aspects. In this research, humanism is discussed in relation to divinity, criticism of humanism, and its implications in various aspects of life, such as education, psychology, philosophy, and art. This descriptive qualitative research was carried out through data analysis from various literary sources, revealing that despite criticism, humanism has had a significant influence on the development of human rights, democracy, and rational and secular thinking in the modern world.

Abstract

This research is library research that makes books that discuss the themes studied as a source of data in research, as the object to be explored in this research is Nurcholish Madjid. Furthermore, the results of this study show that Nurcholish Madjid's thoughts on the concept of Islamic ethics are contained in his argument about the idea of discipline which in his view has a close relationship with the concept of obedience which has a very mature meaning in Islamic teachings. According to Nurcholish Madjid, discipline is not just a social attitude, but also a manifestation of an individual's belief and diversity towards God. In addition, the concept of Islamic ethics in Nurcholish Madjid's view is also contained in his interpretation of piety. Taqwa in Nurcholish Madjid's view is a religious attitude that will further guide a believer as an individual who has a noble character.
