Abstract

Environmental problems that arise are often triggered by the development of population and socioeconomic communities. The increase in population affects the water needs in Pekalongan City. Water needs in Pekalongan City are obtained from unconfined aquifers and confined aquifers. The quality of unconfined aquifer groundwater is more susceptible to pollution than confined aquifers. This is because the groundwater in the aquifer is close to the surface, allowing pollutant sources to easily enter the groundwater. One of the objectives of this study is to determine the level of vulnerability and its suitability with land use. This study used the GOD (Groundwater occurrence, Overlying lithology and Depth of groundwater) method, to analyze the vulnerability of groundwater to pollution. The parameters used consist of the type of aquifer, the type of cover lithology, and the grondwater depth of the unconfined aquifer. The three parameters were analyzed using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and a raster overlay was performed. From the results of the analysis, it produced 3 (three) zones, namely moderate vulnerability level (0.45-0.5), high vulnerability (0.51-0.7), and very high vulnerability level (0.71-0.9). Keywords: Unconfined Aquifer, GOD, groundwater vulnerability zone, Pekalongan City.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of indigenous bacteria on the degradation process of physicochemical compounds in batik and textile wastewater. Research Methods: The method used in this study is a laboratory-scale experimental design and active participation involving batik business groups as partners. The data analyzed in this study were physical and chemical parameters of wastewater treated with bacterial isolates and aeration of 2-3 mg/L for 24 hours using an aerator blower compare with a capacity of 500 volts. The data were then analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that native bacteria significantly affected the decrease in pH and temperature parameters in batik waste, namely pH from 6.6 to 6.3, temperature from 29.470C to 28.200C. The results also showed a decrease in water chemical parameters which included BOD from 8.49 mg/L to 7.52 mg/L, COD from 5.52 mg/L to 4.40 mg/L, TSS from 272 mg/L to 187 mg/L, organic matter from 110 mg/L to 91 mg/L and increased dissolved oxygen capacity from 2.28 mg/L to 3.40 mg/L. Exactly the same conditions also occurred in textile waste samples, where the treatment of indigenous bacteria affected the decrease in pH parameters (6.8 to 6.7), temperature (28.670C to 28.010C), BOD (7.89 mg/L to 6 .11 mg/L). ), COD (12 to 9.5 mg/L), TSS (571.11 to 498.89 mg/L), organic matter (145 mg/L to 117 mg/L) and increased dissolved oxygen capacity of wastewater from 2 .83 mg/L to 4.01 mg/L. The conclusion of this study is that the application of native bacteria quantitatively greatly affects the rate of degradation of the physical and chemical parameters of batik and textile wastewater by 10-30% through the process of degradation of waste compounds for 24 hours. So that the treatment of indigenous bacterial isolates is considered quite effective when compared to no treatment.  Keywords: Organic matter, indigenous bacteria, wastewater, waters, pH

Abstract

Coastal settlements are areas with a high level of vulnerability, both in terms of floods, tidal waves, land subsidence, and threats from climate change. Settlements in the North Pekalongan District are part of the coastal area, which is also struggling with flooding and tidal problems. Current efforts by the government tend to be responsive to current problems, and there are no adaptive efforts that look at long-term impacts. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop the application of the Water Sensitive Urban Design concept to realize resilient coastal settlements. The Water Sensitive Urban Design concept is one of the efforts that are based on coastal characteristics. The research method used quantitative descriptive, to identify the characteristics of the settlement and formulate design directions for the application of the Water Sensitive Urban Design concept. The results of this study showed that the application of the concept of Water Sensitive Urban Design are structuring river borders on the Loji River, providing air storage ponds downstream of the river, and installing rainwater harvesting systems.  Keywords: Water sensitive urban design, settlements, coastal area

Abstract

Floods and droughts are a problem in most parts of Indonesia. The cause is suspected to be due to changes in land use from an open green land to land covered by buildings. As a result, water infiltration into the soil decreases, and runoff increases. This condition will be overcome by increasing the infiltration of water into the soil. Various attempts have been made using recharge wells and biopores. However, due to the small capacity of the infiltration equipment, it has not been able to overcome the problem of inundation and flooding. Horizontal Recharge Pipe (HRP) with perforated walls has a very large infiltration. The watersheds of the Meduri and Bremi Rivers, which are located in the western part of Pekalongan, are areas that frequently experience inundation and flooding. The results of the analysis of rain data showed that the planned return periods of 2 years, 5 years, 10 years, 25 years, and 50 years respectively for the Meduri watershed were 106.33 mm, 146.98 mm, 172.05 mm, 200.40 mm, and 219.73 mm. As for the Bremi DAS, it is 104.84 mm, 147.62 mm, 173.11 mm, 200.38 mm, 217.98 mm, 233.47 mm, and 247.93 mm. The design flood is calculated using the Gama-1, ITB-1, ITB-2, and Nakayasu methods. With a flow coefficient of 0.455 for the Meduri watershed and 0.439 for the Bremi watershed, the flood discharge plan for the Gama-1 method with return periods of 2 years, 5 years, 10 years, 25 years, and 50 years respectively for the Meduri River is 34.36 m3/sec, 47.49 m3/s, 55.59 m3/s, 64.75 m3/s, and 71.00 m3/s. While the planned discharge of the Gama-1 method for the Bremi River is 49.97 m3/s, 70.36 m3/s, 82.51 m3/s, 95.51 m3/s, 103.61 m3/s, 111.28 m3/s, and 118.17 m3/s. In the LWL condition, it does not rain, and the capacity of the river is sufficient while in the LWL condition and it rains some of the river sections overflows. There are several options for handling this flood, namely A. Motion weirs, ponds, and parapet normalization; B. Dams, ponds, parapet normalization, pumps, and HRP; C. Normalization, parapet, and HRP. Of the three options, it is recommended to choose option C depending on budget availability with the following considerations: low cost, environmentally friendly, increasing groundwater availability, reducing land subsidence, and preventing seawater intrusion, as well as lower operational costs.  Keywords: Flood, horizontal recharge pipe, reduction, pump, land use change
