Abstract

The problems of this research focused on the planning, implementation and obstacles of applying a scientific approach to thematic spider web learning models, aiming at making learners more active, critical thinking, the direct process experienced by the learners, the learning could be more meaningful, contextual and fun. This research was conducted at  SDN (State Elementary School) 07 and  SDN 36 at Sungai Ambawang District. It is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research were the educators and the students of grade IV at SDN 07 and SDN 36 of Sungai Ambawang District. The techniques of data collection used were observation, interview, and documentation study. Data analysis was conducted through the steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The technique for examining data validity was by triangulation. The results revealed that the educators had implemented the scientific approach on the thematic spider web learning model. The scientific approach implemented, includes: (1) observing, (2) questioning, (3) trying, (4) reasoning, and (5) communicating. Abstract

The main problem in this research is the difficulty of learning media procurement in math, especially on fractional concept material. Many learners have difficulty understanding fractions because learning tends to use a mechanistic way of giving rules directly to be memorized, remembered, and applied so that learners will quickly forget the fractional concepts, and it will be challenging to apply the concept. The results of this research are: (1) multimedia design is carried out through stages such as conducting preliminary research, designing, material collection, initial product development, material expert validation, media expert and design expert, (2) multimedia profile depicted in the storyboard contains the forms of drawings accompanied by explanations or narratives used in the process of producing multimedia programs, so that in the process of producing multimedia programs will be more structured and orderly, (3) students implement multimedia learning with enthusiasm, it looks more enthusiastic learners in the implementation of learning so that learners are more independent and active, and (4 Learning outcomes of learners who use multimedia, this can be seen from the differences in learning results fractional concepts between before learning and after learning to use multimedia.

Abstract

Based on the fact that teachers feel the low reading skills of students because they feel bored and lack of interest in learning. It is because the teacher does not use media that made students interesting and used the method of spelling and is not supported by supporting books such as pictorial storybooks that make students interested in reading. For this reason, the teacher used pictorial word cards to improve students reading skills. The form of research is classroom action research, collaborative in nature, the subjects in this study were students of second-grade SDN (State Elementary School) 36 Sungai Ambawang, and researchers who also acted as teachers. The procedure in this study follows the main stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Research techniques are direct observation and measurement techniques, data collection tools used are observation sheets and tests. The results of the implementation of the act of learning to read using pictorial cards in each cycle always increases. In the first cycle, the success of students' reading skills achieved 55.55%, then in the second cycle increased to 100%. With an average value of 62.22 in the first cycle and the second cycle, the average value increased to 77.77. Based on the description above, it can generally be concluded that the use of pictorial word cards can improve the reading skills of grade 1 students of SDN 36 Sungai Ambawang. Thus the pictorial word card media can be used during the learning process of reading to improve students' reading skills.
