Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to describe how metacognition skills are assessed from student learning outcomes in class XII quadratic equation material at SMA St. Fransiskus Asisi Pontianak. The research method is descriptive with the survey. The subjects of this study were six students of class XII Natural Sciences which consisted of two students with high learning outcomes, two students with moderate learning outcomes, and two students with low learning outcomes. The results of this study indicate that metacognition skills for learning outcomes are high, almost all indicators are fulfilled in every planning, monitoring, and evaluation. While metacognition skills for learning outcomes are moderate, only planning and monitoring indicators are met, evaluation is still lacking. There for metacognition skills for learning outcomes are low, only planning indicators are met, monitoring and evaluating is still lacking.Keyword : Metacognition Skill, Learning outcomes, Quadratic Equation

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to find out describing students' mistakes in solving the algebraic arithmetic operations in class VIII of SMPN 14 Pontianak. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data collected using tests, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this research were students of class VIII SMPN 14 Pontianak. The test results show that the mistakes made by students include concept errors, principle errors and careless mistakes. Concept errors include students wrong in adding up algebraic forms because they add up different terms. Principle errors include students using associative, distributive and operating positive and negative integers. Abstract

AbstractThis research generally aims to clarify and solve learning obstacle in the problem solving of System of Linear Equations In Three Variables in the tenth grade of MA Al-Mustaqim Kubu Raya. To minimize the learning obstacles, the didactic design was arranged. The form of this research was didactic design research with a qualitative approach. This study was conducted by giving the pre-test questions of problem solving to 27 students, then selecting four students to be the research subjects randomly. After analyzing the results of the pre-test, students experienced learning obstacles in understanding the problem, arranged a solution plan, implementing a settlement plan, and recheck the results obtained. After that, the researcher arranged the didactic design in the form of learning scenarios and the student worksheets. The didactic design that has been prepared is tested on research subjects. After that, the researcher gave the post-test questions. Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research is to describe the form of mathematical fallacy and its causing factors. The research method used is descriptive method in the form of case study research. The subjects of this research are eight senior high students, four students from SMAN 1, two students from SMA Santo Paulus and two students from SMAN 3, who participated in National Science Olympiad 2019 in Pontianak. Mathematical fallacy in this research consists of three forms. They are division by zero, mistaken of taking squares and exponent fallacy. Mathematical fallacy in the form of division by zero was done by 5 students, mistaken of taking squares was done by 6 students, while exponent fallacy was done by 8 students. It was concluded that there were five factors leading to mathematical fallacy. Those are (1) Students were trying to skip several mathematical procedures who claimed as not substantive; (2) Students lacked of understanding in using the argumentation scheme in the form of procedural/steps to solve the problems; (3) Students took  the conclusion hastily without depth analysis; (4) Teachers tend to skip certain facts, concepts, principles and mathematical procedures; and (5) Some text books students used contain things which may lead to mathematical fallacy.Keywords: Mathematical Fallacy, Olympiad, Procedure

Abstract

Pemahaman konseptual terbagi pada lima indikator yaitu mengidentifikasi fakta-fakta yang berkaitan; mengenali contoh dan noncontoh; menafsirkan tanda-tanda, simbol dan istilah; memanipulasi ide-ide terkait; menyempurnakan hubungan konsep dan prinsip. Pemahaman konseptual siswa masih rendah, hal ini dapat dilihat dari pengetahuan prosedural mereka. Pengetahuan procedural siswa masih kurang, hal ini disebabkan kurang terbiasanya mengembangkan berbagai cara yang kemungkinan dalam memecahkan suatu permasalahan matematika. Mereka hanya meniru pola yang diajarkan guru tanpa memahami mengapa menggunakan langkah-langkah yang demikian.Kata kunci: pemahaman, pengetahuan, konseptual, prosedural, kemampuan

Abstract

Program Ms Power Point adalah program aplikasi keluarga Ms Office yang biasa digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran dengan berbantuan computer. Pada program ini terdapat fasilitas untuk menganimasikan sebuah objek, sehingga objek tersebuat dapat muncul, bergerak, berpindah dan menghilang. Sederhananya pemanfaatan fasilitas animasi ini yang membuat Ms Power Point banyak digunakan dalam berbagai presentasi, termasuk dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Pada tulisan ini diuraikan bagaimana memanfaatkan program MS Power Point sebagai media pembelajaran berbantuan komputer, dimulai dari bagaimana memulai program, bagaimana membuat header dan footer, bagaimana menggunakan animasi, bagaimana mengatur hyperlink, bagaimana mengatur background dan bagaimana mengatur slide.Kata Kunci: PowerPoint, Animasi, Pembelajaran, Hiperlink

Abstract

AbstractThe background in this research is the student’s adaptive reasoning ability that is still relatively low. Adaptive reasoning ability are influenced by some factors,  one of them is student’s cognitive style. Therefore, adaptive reasoning ability should be analyzed based on student’s cognitive style. This research aims to describe the student’suu adaptive reasoning ability based on cognitive style in quadrilateral at SMP Negeri 8 Pontianak. The research method use descriptive method with case study. The subject in this research are four students grade VIII D consist of two reflective cognitive style students and two impulsive cognitive style students. The result of data analysis showed that the adaptive reasoning ability are different depending on their cognitive style.  One of students who has reflective cognitive style can  fulfill five indicator of adaptive reasoning ability and one of other students who has reflective cognitive style can  fulfill four indicator of adaptive reasoning ability. One of students who has impulsive cognitive style can  fulfill four indicator of adaptive reasoning ability and one of other students who has impulsive cognitive style can  fulfill two indicator of adaptive reasoning ability.  Keywords: Adaptive Reasoning Ability, Cognitive Style, Quadrilateral

Abstract

Abstract  The background of this research was the lack of junior high school students’ spatial reasoning and quantitative reasoning  in Pythagoras theorem. This research used Didactical Design Research (DDR) method which started by a preliminary study to 18 students of grade IX A Bumi Khatulistiwa  Junior High School.  The preliminary study was aimed to explore students’ learning obstacles to develep didactical design. The developed didactical design was implemented to 20 students of grade VIII A of Bumi Khatulistiwa  Junior High School. After this implementation the developed didactical design was revised. The results of this research were the learning tools used by previous teacher have  explored spatial reasoning and quantitative reasoning, the developed didactical design had minimized students’ epistemological obstacle.    Keywords: Didactical Design, Spatial Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Epistemogical Obstacle

Abstract

AbstractStudents' thinking process stages in solving problems covers the thinking process of understanding problems,  arranging plans, executing plans, and looking back. The difference of students also can be analysed by their cognitive styles: Field Independent and Field Dependent. This research aims to describe junior high school students' thinking process on solving problems in algebra expression materials. After recognizing students' cognitive styles, teachers have larger vision to execute  appropriate teaching method in class and give certain behaviors to students depending on their thinking process. This research is descriptive-qualitative research. The research subjects are eight students of class VIIID in SMPN 8 Pontianak. Four of them were students with Field Independent cognitive style, and the others were Field Dependent. The data collection methods used were Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT), writing test and interview. Based on the results of writing test and interview, it showed that are 1) Students with cognitive style of Field Independent were able to understand problems, arrange plans and execute plans; 2) Students with cognitive style of Field Dependent were only able to understand problems without further performance. Keywords: Cognitive Style, Field Dependent, Field Independent, Thinking Process

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kemampuan penalaran analogi matematis siswa SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya dalam materi bangun ruang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 6 siswa di kelas VIIIB SMP SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya. Hasil tes kemampuan penalaran analogi menunjukan bahwa kemampuan penalaran analogi matematis siswa dalam materi bangun ruang dapat dikategorikan rendah. Tahap Encoding, Mapping, dan Applying hanya dapat dicapai oleh siswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan atas dan tengah, sedangkan tahap Infering dapat dicapai oleh semua siswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan atas, tengah, dan bawah.   Kata kunci : Penalaran Matematis, Analogi   Abstract: The purpose of this research is to explain student?s mathematical analogy reasoning skill in SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya in geometry. The method in this research is Descriptive method with case study research form. The subject in this research are 6 students in VIIIB grade in SMP SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya. The result of the analogy reasoning skill test shows that student?s mathematical analogy reasoning skill in geometry. Encoding, Mapping and Applying level can only be achieved by the students that has high level skil l and medium level skill, while for Infering can be achieved by all the student with high, medium, and low level skill.   Key words : Mathematic Reasoning, Analogy
