Abstract

With the development of information technology, document management is now done digitally and paperless. Document management is also carried out as an implementation of knowledge sharing activities in an organization. Document management as a part of knowledge sharing activities is one of which is carried out by Bina Nusantara University (Binus). This article is compiled to find out how document management is an implementation of knowledge sharing in the Binus University environment. The method used is descriptive method of conducting interviews and literature review. From the research conducted, Binus University developed the Binus portal as a forum for employees to carry out knowledge sharing activities as well as manage documents in the organization. The managed documents include institutional documents such as organizational structure documents, business processes, duties and functions of each directorate, training materials, references in carrying out assignments, sharing expertise, case studies, case-based reasoning, as well as documents in the form of ideas, innovations, and opinions written in popular form by employees at Binus.

Abstract

The use of cloud storage every student is certainly different, different behaviors also affect how individuals manage and use the digital archives they have stored in cloud storage. The purpose of this study is to find out how cloud storage behavior emerges when managing digital archives that students have in their educational activities. This study is done qualitatively with phenomenological methods through interviews to active computer engineering students Undip and observation as techniques in obtaining data. The data analysismethod used in this study is thematic analysis method, which is used to find patterns or themes by analyzing the data obtained then associated with the phenomenon found through the researchers' glasses. The results of this study obtained two themes, namely student knowledge regarding the management of digital archives owned using cloud storage and the behavior of using cloud storage that was raised by computer engineering students. While managing digital archives owned by students, it tends to be done simply in accordance with their knowledge and abilities. The management stage is carried out starting from the selection stage, the structuring and grouping stage, the evaluation stage and the meeting again. All stages of management that are carried out are of course related to one another. The utilization behavior shown by students has different goals in various ways to help with their lecture activities. The behavior of using cloud storage that is carried out is adjusted to the needs and interests of students to be able to meet information needs to support their academic activities.

Abstract

Candil is a digital library application that allows users to access library collections via cell phones, this application launched by Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Barat. With this application, users from various regions can access the library’s collections without any problems. It is important to analyze the extent to which this digital library application can be accepted by its users. Because by knowing how users respond to this digital library application, it can also be seen the advantages and disadvantages in it. This study aims to determines usefulness aspect and ease of use aspect of using the Candil application which can be used as a consideration in developing the digital library application. This research method uses a qualitative approach with case study analysis. The informants of this study were Candil application users and staff of Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Barat. The data collection techniques was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentations. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data collection, data reduction, data display, and verification. The results showed that the usefulness aspect was built on several items such as work more quickly, makes job easier, increase productivity, and useful. The items that have not been fulfilled in the usefulness aspect are job performance and effectiveness. The ease of use aspect was built on several items such as easy to use, controllable, easy of learn, easy to become skillful, and clear and understandable. The item that has not been fulfilled in the ease of use aspect is flexibility. The conclusion of this study shows that overall the Candil application is quite easy to use and provides benefits for its users even though there are some obstacles that can still be overcome. These obstacles are like applications that sometimes experience lag or difficulty connecting to the internet network, which users can still handle.

Abstract

The Indonesian Government has made various efforts to increase investment, mainly through deregulation. One of the implementations of these deregulation efforts is the development of the One-Stop Service Center (PTSP) at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM as an integrated service center for licensing and non-licensing activities related to investment, Foreign Investment (PMA), and Domestic Investment (PMDN). Badan Standardisasi Nasional (BSN) took part in providing service counters at the Central PTSP to provide services in the field of Standardization and Conformity Assessment (SPK). The implication is that BSN requires competent human resources to support these services. Currently, the personnel assigned to the Central PTSP is a librarian. This study aims to identify the skills and competencies needed by librarians to support the investment ecosystem in Indonesia through Central PTSP services. This study was designed by qualitative research with a case study method. Data collection methods using literature study and in-depth interview. This paper focused on the case of a BSN librarian as an informant who was assigned as a liaison officer at the Central PTSP. Data analysis was carried out using a descriptive method. Findings in this study highlight that librarians in special libraries need to improve and adopt 11 (eleven) skills and competencies that are relevant to the duties and functions of the institution, as well as an investment ecosystem to produce optimal librarian performance for the parent institution and society in general. The conclusions of the study include; First, special libraries have different resource tendencies from one institution to another which have an impact on different needs for skills and competencies. Second, special libraries can synergize with institutions outside the parent institution to meet the information needs of segmented users. Third, librarians in special libraries are very important to be subject specialists in their institutional environment. Fourth, the skills and competencies experienced by librarians in special libraries can be overcome by various strategic steps.

Abstract

The Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of Bantul Regency is an agency engaged in research and regional development planning. This agency produces a large number of archives. Archive have a very important role in many aspects in life. Archive as an information source and an authentic evidence than can be accounted for righteousness. The archive over time will decrease the level of use and become an inactive dynamic archive. Inactive archives that are managed properly will produce archives that can be maintain information and physical archives and make it easier the process of archive retrieval. The purpose of this research was to study how to manage inactive dynamic archives and process of retrieval in BAPPEDA, Bantul Regency. This research used descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, and documentation with three informants with the positions of implementing archivist, PHL archive manager, and staffing administration. The data analysis was done through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the processing of inactive dynamic archives in BAPPEDA Bantul office is starting from transferring, identifying archives, describing, maneuvering files, giving definitive numbers, wrapping, arranging archives in boxes, labeling, and assigning boxes on the shelf. Archive retrieval process quite well and have been using archives retrieval tools, it is Archive Listings (DPA) and laptop. There are three supporting factors for the effectiveness and efficiency of archive retrieval, that is the archive storage/processing system, human resources, and infrastructure. In conclusion, the inactive dynamic archive processing carried out at the BAPPEDA office is quite good and the retrieval time process is relatively fast.

Abstract

Digital asset management (DAM) is a series of systems or processes for managing content, e.g. text and images. The concept DAM began to move into the library. With an integrated library system, libraries must be ready to develop DAMs according to their size and type. Bibliometric can be done in a certain time period (3—5 years). The research aims to determine trends in DAM scientific publications, core journals of scientific publications DAM, number of productive researchers, number of scientific publications by affiliation/institution, number of scientific publications by country, number of publications by type of document, number of scientific publications by subject, number of scientific publications based on funding sponsors,  and frequency of occurrence of the most keywords. Data collection was carried out by Scopus searches with the keyword 'digital asset management' in 2011—2020. The research used a qualitative descriptive method with a bibliometric approach. The results showed the growth of scientific publications peaked in 2019 with 374 publications (22.09%). The highest publication came from Lecture Notes In Computer Science Including Subseries Lecture Notes In Artificial Intelligence And Lecture Notes In Bioinformatics is most common (37 publications/7.97%). The most productive writer is Love, PED from Curtin University with 6 publications (9,230 citations). The most productive institutions are Schlumberger Limited with 26 publications. The research publications are published by 81 countries, of which the United States has 456 publications. The common document type is conference paper (997 publications/58.89%). Computer science is is the highest subject of publication (689 publications). The results of research publications received the most funding sponsors, namely the European Commission (19 publications). The results of VOSviewer keyword mapping show the research trend is divided into 9 clusters. The conclusion is scientific publication development have positive growth and the visualization was divided into 9 clusters.

Abstract

This research discusses automotive information search behavior by AutonetMagz Youtube channel subscribers. The purpose of this research is to find out the six stages of automotive information search behavior by AutonetMagz Youtube channel subscribers. The method used is qualitative research method with case study approach, data collection technique is done by conducting interviews, literature studies, observations, and documentation. This research model uses a model introduced by David Ellis in 1987 consisting of starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, and extracting. Informant in this study consists of 5 (five) interviewees, all five are subscribers or subscribers Youtube channel AutonetMagz for a minimum of 6 months or more. The result of this research is at the starting stage, the informants began to understand the automotive information they needed then the behavior carried out is to start looking for automotive information on Autonetmagz Youtube channel. At the chaining stage, the behavior of the informant is to look to the main source of a statetment that is accompanied by the main source when delivered by the reviewer AutonetMagz. At the stage of browsing, the behavior of the five informants is to start conducting a semi-structured search for automotive information. At the differentiating stage, the informant conducts the behavior of searching for other automotive sources of information with the same content as AutonetMagz's Youtube channel on Youtube. At the monitoring stage, informants conduct behavior that is always watching the latest videos uploaded by AutonetMagz. At the extracting stage, there is no specific behavior performed by the five informants, because this stage does not have to be done at the end but can be done at any time when the informant receives automotive information and can directly select it according to what it needs.

Abstract

In the process of dissemination information that mostly designed and carried out in an organized manner, the role of communicator is very impactfull to the successness of information delivery and also to gaining the trust or good responses from the audience. In order to get a good communicator, creating a strategy for selecting communicator is one of the good way that can be done and an important aspect that must be considered. This research aims to determine how the process of selecting a communicator strategy that carried out by GPSTEPS went using the theory of communicator requirements according to Cangara (credibility, attractiveness, and strength) and knowing the details of the stages of the strategy. The focus of this research consists of four stages of the GPSTEPS’s communicator selection strategy which are the selection of division heads, open volunteer recruitment, screening material regarding the GPSTEPS profile and health information to be submitted according to each division, and conduct special training to support the skills and creativity of communicators. This research was also conducted to provide a new perspective in determining the qualifications of a good communicator. The research method used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are using observation, interviews, and documentation study. The results showed that from stages of strategy for selecting communicators for the Waktu Belajar II program, GPSTEPS got the main communicator (each division heads) who has been determined using the GPSTEPS’s rotating system and the communicator’s assistant (volunteers) who has been determined by each division heads according to their performance, commitment, and credibility during the selection stage. The communicator selection strategy for Waktu Belajar II program was made by GPSTEPS to meet the qualifications of a good communicator for the Bantar Gebang Bekasi’s integrated landfill children.

Abstract

With the background of the importance of preservation activities, a library needs to be the main headline in library activities. Moreover, as the scope of the library's duties, preservation is a mandatory activity that is owned to extend the life of a collection. The author conducted research on the children's library, Pustakalana Children's Library to find out the preservation activities carried out at Pustakalana. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method with a case study approach in which non-quantitative data will be interpreted descriptively. The selection of sources as primary data acquisition, using purposive sampling method. The resource person chosen by the author is the head of the Pustakalana librarian, which is none other than the proximity of the librarian in preservation activities. Furthermore, observations were made for the acquisition of secondary data and a literature review to obtain tertiary data to support primary and secondary data. Data analysis used three stages, namely, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions and verification. The results show that preservation activities in Pustakalana include active conservation activities that are directly related to library collections such as wrapping books, passive conservation which is carried out by conditioning the environment around the collection starting from the optimal room temperature in Pustakalana at 20˚C - 23˚C. , humidity levels, air circulation to sunlight, and preventive conservation related to the formulation of policies and operational standards regarding preservation and conservation activities themselves. Furthermore, it is important to recognize the factors that cause damage to a collection in Pustakalana divided into two, namely, internal factors include collection characteristics, and external factors include environment, humans, natural disasters and biota. It was concluded that Pustakalana was very aware of the importance of preservation activities in the library. Pustakalana has done both passively, actively and preventively to extend the life of its library collections.

Abstract

Electronic catalogs have brought about a change in cataloging patterns in libraries. The existence of a catalog based on SLiMS is a choice of electronic catalogs that are easy to uses in libraries. This study aims to determine the research on the application of SLiMS in library processing on the Google Scholar database which analyzes the themes/topics, research methods, and research results used. The research method uses an qualitative approach through a narrative literature review on eight references indexed by the Google Scholar database with a range of publications from 2017 to 2022. The results shows that research on the application of SLiMS in a library processing on the Google Scholar database is a research that is mostly carried out in various libraries. According to the research theme/topic, the SLiMS studied were from the field of university libraries and public/city libraries. As for the research analysis method, SLiMS has been widely studied using qualitative and quantitative methods. The eight references analyzed have research results showing that SLiMS provides convenience and benefits in the continuity of collection processing activities in the library. The SLiMS electronic catalog has helped librarians in collection processing and librarian development.
