FOCUS AND SCOPE Enggang adalah jurnal pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya. Enggang dipilih sebagai nama jurnal ini karena kehidupan masyarakat Kalimantan Tengah tidak jauh dari alam, termasuk kedekatannya pada burung yang bernama enggang. Burung enggang merupakan simbol kebesaran dan kemuliaan suku Dayak di Kalimantan Tengah. Burung enggang juga melambangkan perdamaian dan persatuan, sayapnya yang tebal melambangkan pemimpin yang selalu melindungi rakyatnya. Ekor panjangnya dianggap sebagai tanda kemakmuran rakyat suku Dayak. Kaitannya dengan jurnal ini, tidak lain adalah mengambil makna filosofis kebesaran burung enggang agar jurnal pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya ini, nantinya menjadi besar yang akan dikenal secara lokal, nasional, dan internasional. Jurnal Enggang sebagai jurnal pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya merupakan salah satu wadah untuk mengumpulkan dan melestarikan kekayaan kita yang tidak ternilai harganya. Tentunya kekayaan yang berhubungan dengan pendidikan bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya. Jurnal ini hadir untuk siapa saja yang mencintai dan ingin berkarya di bidang pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya. Selain itu, kami sebagai pengurus jurnal ini bersedia memberikan bimbingan dan pelatihan untuk siapa saja yang ingin maju dan berkompeten dalam hal menulis karya fiksi maupun nonfiksi. Melalui bimbingan dan pelatihan pasti gairah menulis para calon pendidik, para pendidik, dan para pecinta pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya bangkit dengan semangat membara. Abstract

Novel terwujud karena hasil dari proses merenung seorang pengarang terhadap berbagai unsur kehidupannya sehingga hasil tulisannya mencerminkan kehidupannya dan masyarakat sekitarnya. Kebudayaan Jawa yang dikemas oleh Taufiqurrahman merupakan usaha untuk melestarikan kebudayaan yang ada disekitarnya. Apalagi generasi muda mulai melupakan kebudayaan yang sudah ada di dalam masyarakatnya, bahkan ada yang mulai melupakan. Oleh karena itu setiap anggota masyarakat wajib untuk melestarikan budayanya masing-masing agar tetap eksis. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk unsur kebudayaan Jawa yang terdapat dalam novel KSJ. Pendekatan antropologi sastra digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif hermeneutika. Kebudayaan masyarakat Jawa dalam novel KSJ karya Taufiqurrahman al-Azizy terdiri dari empat unsur yaitu bahasa, tradisi, kesenian, dan religi. Pertama, Unsur bahasa yang digunakan dalam novel KSJ seperti sapaan yang khas dan biasa masyarakat Jawa gunakan untuk berkomunikasi yaitu Mas, Mbok, Bu, Le, Mbak, Lik dan Dik. Selain itu juga digunakan untuk nama tokoh dalam novel Kerling si Janda seperti Kastiyem, Pras, Kusmin, Kosim, Muniri, Ponijah, Paijem, Munah, Rustini, Pah, Ginah, Karjo, Tono, Karman, Kartinem, Gimin, Tugiyo, Prawiro. Prayit, Sirhadi, Sunardi, dan Subardi merupakan nama-nama khas masyarakat Jawa. Kedua, unsur tradisi yang ada dalam novel KSJ, diantaranya yaitu tradisi selapanan, walimatul maulid, tahlilan, mudik menjelang hari lebaran dan Mbesik. Ketiga, unsur kesenian yang ada dalam novel KSJ yaitu tradisi menyanyikan lagu untuk membuat seorang anak diam dan tidak menangis lagi. Keempat, Unsur religi dalam novel KSJ menggambarkan sistem religi agama Islam seperti shalat dan membaca Al Quran.

Abstract

The medical device business in Indonesia is showing rapid progress, as evidenced by the increasing number of products from international brands and new companies engaged in medical devices entering Indonesia. Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Directorate General of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Development, there are 359 medical device companies in Indonesia.The purpose of this study was to determine the Marketing Public Relations Strategy implemented in educating customers about medical device products.The theory used in this study is the theory of Scoot, M, Cutlip, Center, Allen H, and Broom which formulates specific Marketing Public Relations. The research method used is descriptive through a qualitative case study approach. The results showed that the Marketing Public Relations program carried out by PT. Global Dispo Medika included: exhibition, print and publication, all of the Marketing Public Relations activities described above had been carried out in accordance with the program that had been prepared so that the implementation went well and achieved target market.

Abstract

English is increasingly being used in indonesian society. This happens as a consequence of people being impacted by technology and social networking sites. One of them is the wide acceptance of english-language films among general audiences. Although english is an important world language and the common language of every country around the world, we must understand it well if we want to enter the global arena. In addition to the actions of governments and certain groups in countries where english is taught or used as a second or third language, here are some reasons why people quickly learn to use the language, especially financial reasons. A systematic review of the literature approach is used to analyze, identify, and evaluate all data on the problem of investigation with a view to addressing the stated research objectives. The slr method is divided into three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. It turns out that english has a close relationship with other fields of study. In addition, english is one of the world's dialects which is used all over the world, especially in indonesia, because it is used in educational institutions and commerce. English also plays a role in the progress of the globalization process to date

Abstract

Indonesia is the second ranked country with the most extreme disaster risk. Efforts to reduce disaster risk and the impact caused by disasters are to organize education, training and counseling to ensure that everyone is trained and aware of the importance of preparedness in dealing with disasters. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of education on disaster mitigation on community preparedness in Mahawu Village, Manado City. The research method used in this study was quasi- experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. totaling 15 respondents using a random sampling technique of data collection using questionnaires, analyzed by Mc Nemar statistical test. The results of the study before being given education showed that preparedness was not good 9 (60.0%), after being given education showed good preparedness 13 (86.7%). Statistical test results obtained p value = 0.016 where p value = 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a significant effect between education and community preparedness Mahawu. The conclusion in this study is that there is a significant influence between disaster mitigation education on community preparedness in Mahawu Village, Manado City. Suggestions This research is expected to increase the level of community preparedness and implement disaster mitigation such as diligently cleaning waterways and disposing of garbage in its place

Abstract

Based on (UNAIDS) Global Statistics in 2018 recorded that 36.9 million people in the world are living with HIV Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that could weaken immunity in humans. The HIV/AIDS issue around the world continues to increase.. Nurses have a significant role in efforts to maintain the health quality of HIV/AIDS patients. Awareness and a positive attitude are crucial to maximize care and increase comfort in care providers. The purposes of this study was to determine the correlation between the nurses' awareness and attitudes toward HIV-AIDS with the nurse's actions toward HIV-AIDS patients in Robert Wolter Mongisidi Tk. II Hospital Manado City. This study conducted using a descriptive-analytical research method that is cross-sectional which aims to obtain information. The sample is taken from respondents as many as 31 respondents using total sampling. Data collection is done by giving a questionnaire. Furthermore, the data that has been collected is processed using the SPSS version 16.0 computer program to be analyzed using the Fisher's Exact Test statistical test with a significance level (α) 0.05. The results show that as many as 26 (83.9) nurses had a good awareness, 22 (71.0) nurses had good attitudes, and 23 (74.2) nurses had good actions. The Chi-square statistic test aqcuire P value of awareness was 0.002 (α≤0.05), and the P value for Attitude was 0.003 (α≤0.05). This study concluded that there is a significant correlation between the nurse’s awareness of Hiv-Aids and the actions of nurses in patients with Hiv-Aids. Also, there is a correlation between the nurse’s attitudes of Hiv-Aids and the actions of nurses in patients with HIV-AIDS.

Abstract

An open wound or vulnus laceratum is one of the events that occurs due to sharp object injuries and blunt object collisions. Almost all the people around do not know how to do first aid for this type of wound. One of the steps that can be taken to increase knowledge of open wound first aid is to provide health educational simulation method.to find out the effect of health education simulation methods on open wound first aid skills in lay public society at village. The researchmethod use the Quasy Experiment, with a one group pre-post test method . The samples in this study taken 15 respondents by the accidental sampling techniques. The research instruments used is an observation sheet. Then the data collected processed by Mc Nemar Test. Findings , the Mc Nemarl test results obtained a p value = 0.001 with a significance of< 0.05. The conclusion is giving heakth education simulation methods on open wound first aid skills in lay public society at Tateli Village. The results of this study are expected to provide skill and knowledge to the society about open wound first aid.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop students’ speaking competency through role play. This research is quantitative research through a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research is students of the English Department at FBS Unima, and the sample is the first semester, which consists of 25 students. The instrument of this research is a test; there are two pre- and post-tests. It is in the form of an oral test. The items in the test are constructed based on the instructional materials given to the students. The test will be given to evaluate the students’ achievement. The result shows that there is a significant improvement in students’ speaking ability through role-play technique, as shown by the scores they get. In the pre-test, the highest score is six (6) achieved by twelve students, six (5) achieved by ten (18) students, and the lowest score is five (4) achieved by three (3) students. The mean score of the pre-test is 5.20. While in the post-test, the highest score is nine (9) achieved by four (4) students, eight (8) achieved by eleven (11) students, seven (7) achieved by nine (9) students, and the lowest score is six (6) achieved by one student. The mean score of the post-test is 7.36.

Abstract

This research is intended to prove whether reading aloud and question and answer techniques are effective or not in improving students’ ability to read narrative text at SMA Negeri 1 Ratahan Timur. This research is classified as classroom action research because it was conducted in a cycle. The second-grade students were taken as a sample consisting of 19 students. The writer used reflective journals, field notes, and tests in collecting data. The data were analyzed through the "triangulation" method. It is a kind of data analysis technique used to analyze qualitative data in which related data are compared and evaluated to explain the parallel characteristics. This was done to check whether the problem in reading comprehension of narrative texts has been overcome, all at once to check the student's progress. The result shows that by applying reading aloud in Cycle 1, It was found that only 36.84 % or 7 students of the 19 students could understand the text given with some comprehension and it was categorized as unsatisfying. The application of question and answer in Cycle 2, shows 52.63 % of 10 students made progress in the teaching-learning process of reading ability development and it was categorized as quite satisfying. By the combination of reading aloud and question and answer in Cycle 3 most of the students made great progress, with 68.42 % or 12 students, and it was categorized as satisfying.

Abstract

This study aims to describe analyzing and knowing the effect of academic supervision, the effect of teacher performance on achievement, and the simultaneous influence between academic supervision and teacher performance. This research was conducted in an ex-post facto and explanatory research with a quantitative approach. The results showed that the principal's academic supervision contributed positively to student achievement in public elementary schools in East Ratahan. This research has a positive contribution to the development of student learning outcomes and achievement where academic supervision must be implemented to supervise teacher professionals in implementing learning to students. Teacher performance does not significantly contribute to student achievement in public elementary schools in East Ratahan. The implication of this research in learning activities in schools lies in optimizing students' cognitive and learning skills through stimulation and teacher professionalism. Another thing is the nutritional and emotional factors that must be optimized and developed by parents in facilitating their children to learn. The principal's academic supervision and teacher performance simultaneously contribute positively and significantly to student achievement in public elementary schools in East Ratahan. The results of this study have a positive contribution to the learning process which includes curriculum, professionalism, and school managerial systems. Improvements to the curriculum, teacher professionalism, and principal managerial systems must be a holistic entity in its implementation.

Abstract

This research intends to reveal violence and its impact in Alice Walker’s The Color Purple. The design of this study is qualitative research that pictures the data in the form of words and quotations. The writer collects and selects the data from the primary source, the novel itself, and the secondary source, which includes books explaining research, literature, and some other references that are relevant and support the analysis. In analyzing the data, the writer uses an objective and mimetic approach to explore the literary work as a reflection of human life. The result shows that Afro-American women, as pictured in Celie’s experience, are treated badly physically, sexually, and mentally by black men who are introduced as her stepfather and her husband. These bad treatments are caused by an internal factor that comes from Celie’s plain character: a fear of fighting. Besides that, the external factor, which comes from social conditions at that time, also gives influence toward men’s point of view about black women, in which for them, women are inferior socially so that they are usually the object of cruel treatment from white, even black men.
