Abstract

Introduction. Impaired mobility in the elderly is a condition of limited movement in the function of one or more of the body's extremities which can affect the independence of the elderly in carrying out daily activities physically and psychologically. Objectives. To determine the description of pain level in elderly patients with immobilization history. Methods. Descriptive research with a retrospective approach, examining the medical records of elderly patients with immobilization history who were treated at Ruang Anggrek RSU Negara during 2022-2023. Data analysis to calculate the percentage of each pain level in elderly patients with immobilization. The tool used to measure pain was the numerical rating scale (NRS). Results. The number of elderly patients with immobilization history treated at Ruang Anggrek RSU Negara during 2022-2023 was 105 patients, most of whom were female (51.4%) and in the age group 60-69 years old (47.6%). The most frequent comorbidity was hypertension (20.0%) with myalgia (86.7%). Based on pain level, it was found that 67.6% had mild pain, 29.5% moderate pain, and 2.9% severe pain. Mild pain was more often accompanied by myalgia (91.55%). Severe pain was more often accompanied by arthralgia (66.67%) and with ≥2 comorbidities (66.67%). Conclusions. The pain level in elderly patients with immobilization history was mostly mild, most of them were female with comorbid hypertension accompanied by myalgia. This mild pain was related to the most common cause which was muscle pain (myalgia). Joint pain (arthralgia) tends to cause more severe pain. Hypertension tends to worsen the course of pain

Abstract

Introduction. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious respiratory system infection caused by a new type of Coronavirus. COVID-19 infection can cause mild, moderate, or severe symptoms in the form of fever, tachypnea, severe respiratory distress, and hypoxemia. Oxygen saturation is an indicator of oxygenation status. Hypoxemia is an important prognostic indicator of hospital length of stay and death. Objectives. To determine the description of oxygen saturation in COVID-19 patients during treatment in the Ruang Isolasi RSU Negara. Methods. Descriptive study with a retrospective approach, to examine the medical records of COVID-19 patients with moderate and severe symptoms. Results. The number of COVID-19 patients treated in Ruang Isolasi RSU Negara during the 2020-2022 study was 384 patients. Most of them had moderate symptoms (70.05%). SpO2 values <93% were found more frequently in men (51.11%) and in the age group 41-60 years (49.63%). Comorbid DM was more commonly found at SpO2 values <93% (23.02%) and pneumonia was more common at SpO2 values <93% (97.21%). Conclusions. Patients with SpO2 values <93% were more likely to be male patients, age group 41-60 years, with comorbid DM and pneumonia. Women's immune systems are superior to men's due to hormonal protection. Hypertension and diabetes mellitus are low-grade inflammation (systemic inflammatory processes) and cause more severe organ damage. An increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines in serum is associated with inflammation in the lungs, causing pneumonia.

Abstract

Introduction: Agriculture plays an important role in Indonesia's international development, providing rice, corn and wheat to meet the needs of the community. Agricultural development can increase food availability and food security, as well as improve the economy and welfare of the community. One of the villages in Banyuwangi, namely Ketapang Village, is an area where most of the population works in the agricultural sector. KCl fertilizer is one type of fertilizer that is often used in rice fields to increase rice yield. Objective: This study aims to analyze chloride levels in rice field water after fertilization using KCl fertilizer, with the aim of determining the effectiveness of fertilizers that can be absorbed by plants. Methods: This research was conducted at the Chemistry Laboratory of STIKES Banyuwangi in March 2024. Mohr's Argentometric titration method was used for chloride analysis. Rice field water samples were collected from Ketapang Village. Results: The analysis showed significant variation in the percentage of chloride absorbed by plants at eight different paddy field sites after fertilization with KCl. The percentage of chloride absorbed ranged from 49.37% to 97.31%. Conclusions: The analysis showed significant variation in the percentage of chloride absorbed by plants after fertilization with KCl. Sites with a high percentage of chloride content can be considered a good indicator of fertilizer effectiveness, indicating that plants are able to absorb nutrients optimally. This has important implications in evaluating the quality of fertilization applied by farmers and can contribute to increased productivity and health of rice plants.

Abstract

The onset of menstruation is one of the first real changes that teenagers experience. Even though menstruation is a normal, natural process, some women experience discomfort during menstruation, including dysmenorrhea (low back pain), irregular menstruation, or lower abdominal pain. To relieve dysmenorrhea, one of the options is to use methods other than drugs. To relieve the severity of menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea, this research will examine the efficacy of acupressure and ginger drinks, as well as variations in administration and the effects of ginger drinks. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest strategy with two groups. Thirty women aged eighteen to twenty-one years participated in the study (15 in the acupressure group and 15 in the red ginger group). To select the sample, the researcher used a purposive sampling technique. The research results revealed that acupressure, ginger drink, and a combination of the two were effective in alleviating the symptoms of menstrual pain and dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. However, the effects of ginger drinks and acupressure treatments are not additive. In the Adolescent Girls Age Group

Abstract

Back pain, particularly in the lumbosacral region, is a common issue among women in their third trimester of pregnancy. This discomfort tends to become more pronounced as the pregnancy progresses. Without prompt intervention, this condition can lead to persistent pain until postpartum. Endorphin massage and effleurage massage are alternatives to help alleviate back pain in pregnant women during their third trimester. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of endorphin massage versus effleurage massage in alleviating back pain among women in their third trimester of pregnancy in the working area of the Kembiritan Banyuwangi Health Center in 2023. This study utilizes a pre-experimental methodology, employing a two-group pretest-posttest design. It targets the entire population of third trimester pregnant women suffering from back pain, totaling 99 individuals. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling and resulting in a total of 60 pregnant women who are then divided into two treatment groups, namely group 1 endorphin massage and group 2 effleurage massage then will be tested using the Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test. The findings of the study determined using the Wilcoxon test showed a pvalue of < 0.05 both in endorphin massage and effleurage massage which means there is a decrease in pain scales before and after treatment. The Mann Whitney test result found a pvalue of < 0.018 in endorphin massage and a pvalue of < 0.00 in effleurage massage, thus it can be deduced that a difference exists in the reduction of pain levels, and effleurage massage proves to be more efficacious in alleviating back pain among pregnant women in their third trimester. than endorphin massage. Advice for health workers to practice and teach effleurage massage for pregnant women in their third trimester who are dealing with back pain.
